Analysis right on! His down fall was his inability to fire that wretched D coordinator. He also missed on some recruits.

Golden was an absolute flop. He was a used car salesman who alienated a bunch of the local high school coaches and insisted on running an outdated defensive scheme that forced square pegs into round holes. He might have had a chance to succeed if he wasn’t overly loyal to his friend, defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio. He refused to fire D’Onofrio despite him fielding some of the worst defenses in Miami history.

Please do the rise (and fall) and rise again of Luke Fickell. He has such an interesting story and has turned UC into a powerhouse!
As a miami fan during the al golden era Miami had loads and loads of talent I loved watching them play

Yes. He. Was. HOWEVER, I don't think UM made a full disclosure of what type of sanctions they were facing when they hired Golden.
He was already hired and then the sh!tstorm started.
Unfortunately Al Golden was handed a raw deal because of the Shapiro scandal in which the boosters and administration failed to realize especially when Randy Shannon didn't allowed this clown to be around the team. He should had never left Temple University.

This video should be the called the fall and failure of Al Golden, because he never rose to the occasion. Virginia and FSU used to always beat him. He couldn't get Amari Cooper, Teddy Bridgewater, Lamar Jackson, or any other big time recruits. Btw Kstate beat tf out of my Canes. You definately sugar-coated this bum's coaching career. Manny keeps making changes that SEEM to turn out well
First year terrible offense. Went and got a player and great OC
Second year TERRIBLE defense. Got rid of his DC (we all know it was a find another job thing ) and re worked the whole defensive staff.
Uses the portal to fill the gaps that they lacked.
And has been recruiting well

As someone who became a college football fan by watching the Hurricanes, Al Golden was a failure.
The plays were mundane. No creativity, nothing new.
He failed at making adjustments, ie firing his brother in law, the D-Coordinator.
The team wasn't aggressive, and Golden didn't adapt.
The season would start with ambition and then the vibe would plateau.
Talent was there. Golden just didn't do what was necessary.
There comes a point where a decision MUST BE MADE. That moment will push you to the next level, or create the BIGGEST SETBACK. Golden is a nice guy, but wasn't willing to go for GREATNESS.

Al was a bad hire. He never connected with the players or community. He didnt want the old players to stand on the sideline.
