  • I thought it would be neat to dig into my Pelican 1510 box and show you what I (currently) bring with me to my audio gigs that I work. If you have any other suggestions for things I should consider adding, or any questions about what is in the box, please comment below!

    Nail clippers, light first aid, snacks, Sharpie, zip ties, rack screws, two way radio, beanie hat for cold weather, small tape measure, spare house/car key, lanyard for passes/keys/flashlight, pocket knife or Leatherman, chewing gum, notepad, you may have mentioned most of these but I may have missed them. Thx for posting!

      Definitely going to add gum and small first aid! I have most of the other things that I typically need from your list. Thanks for the suggestions!

    Some things I would recommend are, a cable testing box. A Stubby Phillips head screwdriver. Lineman's pliers, cable strippers, and exacto knife, I carry both a disposable snap off straight blade, and a standard curved blade. A dentist pick, the kind with a hook. I use these to reach in and re-align the tang on a 1/4" guitar plug, when they get out of alignment, which often happens when the guitar player steps on their cord, pulling it out at an angle. A long pair of needle nose pliers are great, small vice grips to hold stuff together temporarily. I also carry a Hakko iron and a soldering kit, (lead, flux core solder, flux paste, copper Brillo, a swatch of sandpaper, heatshrink tubing, small diameter wire, and a rubber band to put around needle nose pliers to make a makeshift clamp etc). Single guitar strings, a couple short 1/4 jumper cables for pedal boards, an inexpensive 9v pedal board power supply, with daisy chain cable, a pair of drum sticks, 2032 batteries, a headlamp, and single use superglue tubes, (the gel kind is better), good for repairs and finger wounds.

      Nice recs! I have lots of these things already so I can definitely pack the box based on what's needed for the event. Thanks! 😁

    Klein multi- screwdriver/nutdrivers, ... covers so much of what anyone would encounter.
    The tight fit and neodym magnet holders are brilliant in use.
    Finally, legit multi drivers worth carrying and relying upon.

      Thanks! Definitely seems better than carrying a bunch of separate single drivers. *Adds to cart* 😁

    I have some stuff in my kit and you should add cable tester, sound bullet, Sound tools Sniffer sender for XLRS, tons of xlr adapters and xlr to 1/4 and stuff and the kill-a-watt meter to measure gear that takes a lot of power and extra AA batteries

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  Рік тому

      Nice! I have a tester, but rarely bring it. I do like the idea of the sound bullet!

    you can make diy trekpak dividers with 4mm coroplast with 2mm sticky back eva foam on both sides and bobby pins for the connections. Idk how well that would work with the store bought ones though.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  Рік тому

      I'll have to look into that. I hate how expensive the Pelican ones are!

    Nice case. I have a similar setup in a hobo freight 5800. I've got the pelican brand lid organizer as well. Do you have a link to those drum mic clamps? I just picked up a kit with wood hoops and they look like they might work nice with that.

    I second the sound bullet or a whirlwind qbox which perform similar tasks. Sound bullet is cheaper and smaller.
    I also second a decent cable tester for both audio cables and one for VDV in case you need to test an ethernet run.
    I also bring a soldering Iron and a modular crimp tool in case I would need to repair a cable laid into a bundle that can’t easily be replaced. I also bring a pair of RJ-45 couplers.
    I also like having a couple of switchable xlr pads. They can be very handy. Same with having a few inline xlr pin 1 lifts or an Isolation transformer. Sometimes its what you need.
    For tools I also like having a pair of scissors (you choose what you like) I like communications shears but some guys like medical shears.
    I like having a 4-5” pair of pliers like the knipex cobra or similar (above and beyond a multitool) and anyone that has ever carried a set will know. MT pliers just have limits.
    I also want to have a full size screwdriver, like a klien multidriver.
    Lastly, a razor knife or utility knife is super handy if its not banned where your traveling.

      Nice! I definitely pack this box a little differently depending on what gig I'm going to. A few things that I still want to add are a small soldering pen, a Klein multi-driver, and one of those sound bullets. I have a cable tester and most of this other stuff, just depends on what makes it into the box!

    cool kit! I got a bunch of those neewer clamps myself. mine has the magic arms so I can articualte the mic to a good position. maybe get some of those magic arms? for a replacement mic for tuning the iSEMcon EMX-7150 are a good middle tier microphone. since you have a db meter a db sound calibrator would be a good idea so you are confident of your db reading. and that goes for your tuning mic as well. when you are using smaart or something similar you can use the calibrator to adjust your interface preamp. hope this help.

      Thanks so much! I was wondering how to get the DB accurate with preamp gain and this makes SO much sense now. I'll definitely look into these.

    Hey, really dug this video. Makes me wanna grab a pelican for some guitar repairs that I do! Do you happen to have a link for that drum clip, that looks SUPER handy for what I could use it for.
    As far as what I'd add to your case, maybe a 58, an XLR cable (unless your venue has a bunch), and possibly a pair of monitoring headphones that are cheap like the Audio Technica M40's or something, unless that's what's in your backpack haha.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  Рік тому

      Thanks! This is the exact clamps I bought, and I think there's a brand on Amazon that is a dollar cheaper as well.
