    Morning Micah, just wondering if you have enough pasture to do regenerative ranching where you just let your cows eat grass and not have to worry about buying feed and making silage. I was just wondering. Not to mention there is a channel I watch called Deep South Homestead. They are in Southern Mississippi. Danny King hss been growing corn for over 40 years and has blended several corn types together for over 30 years. Of course he calls it Danny corn, lol. But this is heirloom and open pollinated. His corn has been shown to grow to at least 15 feet tall and some ears have been as long as 15 inches. It is good for animal feed as well as human. People from all over the country has been able to grow it. Just wondered if maybe you could get a hold of him and see if you could get some from him. Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there. And yes this year was rough on his corn crop too. Before I forget, He and his Wanda started another channel called Pine Grove. That's where last year and this year's corn crop is. They are getting their first Homestead ready to sell. It is 10 acres and they bought 40 acres a few miles from the original 1.

      We don’t have that much pasture, but we’re going to try to rejuvenate the one we’ve got! We are desperate for rain and hopefully we will have a wet winter here! We’ll reseed it!

    Enjoy your videos but question for you, do you own or could you borrow a sickle mower bar. Remember my father had one on the farm years back. We used it for mowing the roadsides and other stuff. You could cut the corn for silage so much easier and maybe complete a task quicker and move on to your much growing list of projects to complete on the farm.

    How many acres do you grow corn on? We did a 1/2 acre of corn for silage this year for our butcher beef. Maybe eco blocks instead of plywood sides?

    • @McGieHomesteadAdventures
      @McGieHomesteadAdventures  15 годин тому

      I’m thinking we grow 6-7 acres, and made silage with 5 of it. My tractor won’t pick up those blocks and that would mean it would be a permanent fixture, maybe somewhere someday!
