    Am I the only one who didn't think Michael was the killer from the start? He seemed genuinely distressed, his story stayed the same and he was completely cooperative with police from the second they arrived. Really makes you wonder how many completely innocent people are sitting in prison. It's terrifying.

    • @Ashbrash1998
      @Ashbrash1998 2 місяці тому +413

      The hard part about all of this is that it's really hard sometimes to base innocence just on actions. So many people are assumed guilty if they don't act a certain way, even if they are on the spectrum or any other diagnoses that alter their behavior. And even those that don"t will get seen as sus by police just because they have a hunch based on nothing.

      A lot of people would dismiss him and letting the "sus" assumption that they already pre-conceived get into their brains.
      Officers ofc would put him as a suspect until evidence is shown. That's only natural.

They told her they can't do anything unless they catch him in the act. Restraining orders do nothing. Get a fire arm and get trained on how to use it. That will keep you a lot safer then some piece of paper.

    • @Scruuhb
      @Scruuhb 2 місяці тому +7

      From my understanding EMTS/first responders don’t go straight to the injured unless the crime scene is locked down & secured by law enforcement. In this case they don’t know if the attacker was still in the house or if there was multiple attackers.
      @mike yes that also depends on the situation. If it was a physical accident that you could control that was caused by yourself or friends/family member… sure… but in this case it’s a crime scene & you don’t wanna tamper with anything until authorities get there and start their investigation .

      Damn, that's terrible. I had protected a friend of mine for a couple weeks one time when a guy was stalking her and she was a mess. The mental and emotional stress was overwhelming for her. She was well under 21, but I ended up getting a gun for her and it possibly ended up saving her life. Her stalker finally found a time when she was in a dark "transitional space" and came up behind her, but she expected him and had her gun in her hand already. It was the first and last time she ever saw his face. She believes that he never covered his face, because he had planned to kill her and seeing his face didn't matter. In the end though, he was never identified and we still have no idea who he was (over 20 years later). Your comment reminded me of the whole situation and now I'm wondering if I should suggest for her to go through mug shots and the sex offender website to see if he was ever arrested before or after that. I think the sex offender registry existed before that... or at least I think that sex offenders from those days will be on there also if they're still alive. I don't think he could ever be charged for stalking her though after so long. They never indicted him at that time, so the statute of limitations would make it impossible to have him charged. (My x brother in law stabbed my sister years ago and although he fled and was never caught, he was indicted, so the statute of limitations will never protect him from being charged if he's ever caught, even if 50 years goes by).

      Yes lets automatically blame the police for being reasonable, its a form of suspecting people, and usually people who report crimes including murderers can sometimes be the culprit, do you know how suspicious it sounds for
      1. Being the only person on site
      2. Being the only witness on site
      3. Having wounds that the "Suspect" can't explain
      Cops have to come to quick assumptions and make sure evidence isn't destroyed, so they take the prime suspect which is usually a person who is closely related to the victim or the only person present during the crime, the United States as you might know is based off of a Innocent until proven guilty, this situation may seem like its contradicting it but he's still innocent, and their following regular procedure to make sure that he IS innocent whilst the evidence is still present and "Fresh"

      @@mikeydude750 The Constitution doesn't mandate bail/bond and many people are denied bail/bond when the evidence against them is strong and it's a bad enough crime. You also shouldn't speak as if you know the law when you so clearly know Nothing at all.

      What behavior? All they did was question him and cleared him? What if they do besides think logically? They see a blood man and a dead woman. Should they not question that person? When 99% of the time it’s the person you live with that kills you.. I don’t get what they did that’s so awful.

    You can’t ways read a persons emotional response to trauma. I was definitely impulsive to who appeared to be the culprit through the initial body cams. Also, huge respect to the officers who walk up to this.

      I know this is a true crime channel so there's a ton of bootlicking, but it's mostly because the police are pretty bad at their jobs
