The problem is not that some South Africans are allergic to nuclear; rather, it is that there are still not enough people allergic to the ANC to take them down.
We are not allergic to nuclear. We just allergic to more government wastage and the corrupt intent of the government officials orchestrating these deals. I think we have all seen enough to know when we are in for a kick in the teeth, Gwede!!
We are not scared of nuclear when its run by a competent company, but when its run by you,who can't run and maintain a small home generator properly, then we are very scared, you cant even keep within the time frame of revamping koeberg.
What the hell was done with the funding the U. S. and Germany gave Ramaphosa not that long ago? Funds that were meant for the electricity crisis. Not even a word of an action plan, never mind implementation. Oh I forgot, the ANC need to eat. SA is crumbling very quickly, how many more companies must close?, How many more people are going to be unemployed? Words, words, words............
Once it's built Nuclear wins. But the lead time and build cost as it stands now does not compete with the downward trajectory of renewable energy and grid storage costs. In other words, if you order a plant today, the cost of repaying the plant will never be able to catch up with renewables ordered and going online by the time your first watt of nuclear comes from that plant. However, with modular reactors, the cost and lead time will probably be able to beat RE. We need to develop pebble-bed modular reactors so that every municipality of every small town has its own reactors and they can generate income directly from that.
the reason for this is that the modular reactors are manufactured at one factory and then shipped to the location which drastically cuts the costs and red-tape involved in a traditional nuclear build.
The people who took over from the team who hand over the successful and top ESKOM businesses in 1994 up untill today are to blame for this sad situation.Shame on the ANC
Words not grounded in reality... It takes around 8 years to build a large traditional nuclear power station (if things go well), keep in mind we could not even build a coal power station in that time period, and a nuclear power station is way more complex and has far stricter safety requirements - also very expensive. The only remote chance for nuclear-to-end load shedding is factory-manufactured small modular nuclear reactors that can be installed quickly, but many units will be required to make up the generation deficit.
Not allergic just using nuclear whilst cANCer are in governance..ffs you can't even control traffic at main intersections during loadshed hours... good help us Voetsak ANC Voetsak
When I look at the US FLEET of Carrier Air Groups (CAG), it is powered by a Single Nuclear Reactor which supplies Energy at a Life Cycle of between 20 - 40 years according to the Life Cycle Analysis without hard maintenance. Question is why aren't these innovations being explored for high demand or peak energy generation? If we are inadequate for change then we will not resolved the energy crisis any time soon. Sorry to sound pessimistic but that is the reality.
SA is allergic to 0 energy Gwede Mantashe. He's again sensing cadres enabled to Eat and Ruussi Rubles incoming towards anc salaries. He clearly has something big on Ramaphosa, meanwhile, who exactly is he trying to fool?
Nuclear as an IPP could work.. just wonder who would bid for it since the risk is with the provider using that model. As an investment I reckon it’s one of the easiest to make given the market forces as an ipp long term contract. One thing Sa has to consider going forward though is nuclear recycling and enrichment onshore. Buying it is a waste.
This is poor reporting. He was talking about the influence of Western rhetoric on the average working class South African that nuclear energy is extremely dangerous and requires the care and responsibility that South Africans do not process to completely power a stable national grid of this energy. He is correct in that South Africa certainly has the capability and responsibility... none of which the ANC processes. South Africa, with our hard past and colourful people, will always be seen by the World as unpredictable and dangerous. Not only are we geographically gifted, but we have proven that we are up to any task. It is in the Wests best interest that we are kept a 3rd world. Never forget the outside, silent and devious hands that try to sabotage and keep us from progressing. Those same hands that spread world peace, also promote fighting and division amongst ourselves in the interest of their idea of "World Peace"
Ag just resign. Koebeg was never "attacked " .. you never kept it going or built anything new. Surely you can just give a wonderful clever person the job for a quarter of the money they pay you to actually make the electricity work 😅
Exactly. He suggested this in his early years of reign.Whoh! The rebuke and insults he received for this suggestion.Had this been done we would not be in this predicament today.
The problem is not that some South Africans are allergic to nuclear; rather, it is that there are still not enough people allergic to the ANC to take them down.
Lol😂😂😂
Exactly
Mantashe has a point here.NGOs have too much power and are holding us back
It is because Gwende Mantshe does not know or understand what he is doing i think he must resign immediately

@@CassidayJacobs yes koeberg
We are not afraid of Nuclear energy ! We are afraid of the Incompetent ANC running a nuclear plants when they can't run coal plants properly !!!
This!!
You have a point.
I think if the ANC becomes allergic to "mismanagement" then we could build nuclear.
😂😂😂

You say that because you have shares in coal
Nuclear is very clean energy
Blame anybody but the ANC.
All this loadshedding is to push the Russian Nuclear deal and make a buck while doing it..
These old people, it is time to let our intelligent young people lead this beautiful country enough is enough
How would the ANC eat off nuclear power they will go broke😂
Who is funding those fake environmentalist, this group needs to assessed. Full stop

Our leaders must please call on the ANC to step down. They have failed South Africans in so many ways. We can not allow it to continue.
Choose your words wisely old man
Its not because of any allergy. Its a huge lack of knowledge that is the problem.
Where will the 20 billion dollars come from to build a nuclear power plant.
It takes 8 to 10 years to build one, and with the SOE track on time, corruption, poor design and workmanship on recent projects I would be petrified!
The people who took over from the team who hand over the successful and top ESKOM businesses in 1994 up untill today are to blame for this sad situation.Shame on the ANC
SOP for the ANC - point fingers at everybody else instead of the real problem - lack of political will to solve the problem.

For once we thinking forward...Electricity for South Africa citizens 😊😊😊😊
Why not just fix the generators and distribution equipment? As SA has over enough coal to supply the country for many years?
just imagine corruption and terrorist groups attacking that nuclear station
