- Watch this video about the Red Bull RB16 driven by Max Verstappen and Alex Albon. In my opinion this is the currently the best V6 sound in F1,and it's improving year after year. Let me know what do you think about it.

Sounds like Honda found a way to spool the Turbo during downshifts with the engine firing without burning fuel. Therefore MGU-H can be used to generate power, without the need for it to drive the turbo. I believe this is also why Verstappen experienced turbo lag problems after introduction of Spec 4 last year. They now have a form of clutch between Turbo and MGU-H, so that they can spin the turbo faster than MGU-H on high speeds, without the turbo being limited to the 125.000 RPM the MGU-H regulation has.
Air Safety News 24x7 Honda powered cars were amongst the best in acceleration last year, top speed they were somewhere in the middle but that’s probably because of the drag that rb cars produce, they have the power but just need to fix the reliability a little bit more

Not only does the car look cool with the Aston Martin wings on the spoiler, it has an awesome Honda sound, good performance and reliability, does not cheat, and shoots flying sparks under braking!
I once remembered the accelerator technique that Ayrton Senna used to accelerate as fast as he could at the start of a corner.
In the past, Honda engineers referred to this unique accelerator technique as "Senna Feet."

It feels like the RB16 brakes so much later and has engine group to go flat out where others (except mercedes) need to lift. Impressive work from both RBR & Honda!

Cosmo Kramer but it seems as it has gotten more loud and aggressive. Might be because Honda doesn’t have to build the engine around the car but the team build the car around the engine giving Honda more space to idk make it better.
I don't think that's coincidence. I was following F1 news like crazy back in February, also checking out vids about the new launched cars. Back then I read something about Adrian Newey inventing a new form of the blown diffuser. But in this case (if it is the case) it would've been done with the rear wing instead of the diffuser. Don't know if it really is the case but if it is that would be ingenious!

I knew I had faith in Honda. Too bad the relationship with McLaren didn't work out, but they seem right at home with the Red Bull guys!
Love the off throttle and coasting noise. It just sounds raw and excited--like it's run on the heart of a kaiju.
TheOz91 mclaren just ran out of patience with them unfortunately. But I knew honda could improve!
@@ciello___8307 McLaren didn't run out of patience, they wanted to negotiate a new contract with more money for them. Honda made the side deal with RedBull and left. It had to happen, they both made big management changes after.
To be honest I am so glad it didn't work out with McLaren as this way not only do we have 2 teams we can support but also the F1 apparels look better than a subdued design and black grey colour scheme of McLaren.
I also feel the youthful energentic and enthusiastic image of RedBull suits Honda appealing to a more younger demographics of the car market (rather than established old millionaires).
To be honest, McLaren and Honda separating was the best for both, especially McLaren. It showed that they were also to blame for their lack of performance. The deal with Renault exposed McLaren in 2018
McLaren wouldn't work WITH Honda. They wanted to try their size zero concept no matter what even though it didn't have enough engine cooling and as a result it kept blowing up and Honda had to turn the engines down to keep them alive.

I agree, the v6 sounds aggressive and fast, especially the Honda. Sounds powerful and twitchy, like it wants to step out at the rear. Just like the turbo charged v12s and there onboards. The v10s and v8s are just for whiny little children who can't relate f1 to anything other than that sound

Looking forward to this year! I'm English so obviously hoping for Hamilton to equal that incredible record of Michael Schumacher this year.
Team wise, I've got my fingers crossed for Williams to be competitive. Been a Williams fan since I first started watching F1 back I the late 80's. It's been heart breaking watching how much they've struggled over the past seasons.
Interesting to see where Ferrari shake out. They look (as much as you can tell from a first test) like they might be up against McLaren and Racing Point, at least at the start of the year.
But who knows!!?? It's going to be a good year I think, especially as we get new regs next year and see how willing teams are to push the envelope for this year.

No, those are vortexes in the air created by turbulation in the air by the rear wing. Google F1 vortex and you can see some interesting articles about it.
