John I am the exact same age as you. Give of take a few months. I was a passionate golfer in ‘68-‘70 and the promise of Spring was like waiting for Christmas as a five year old. You have prompted me to turn my thoughts to those days so long ago, and remember to hold those dear memories close. Have an excellent Spring, and thank you for steering my thoughts there!!
Wonderful talk John. Celebrated by bards and storytellers for centuries, spring fever definitely affects the young more than the elderly since it involves our biological clock and the hormones we produce but I still go through the ritual every year. As for old memories and nostalgia, I remember reading somewhere that every first experience leave a larger imprint in our brain, rendering the memory larger than life. Of course, the fact that we were going through the phases of childhood or teenage years which involves less responsibility and more freedom at the time for most certainly helps to depict a distorted although comforting image. Nevertheless, I’ve often heard that the most precious heritage we can leave our offspring is a beautiful childhood and that is precisely what I've strived to do with my two kids. I sometimes remind them that no matter what happens, nobody can steal that from them.
Yeah, usually, but there was a baseball game going on in the back of me which you can hear faintly, and there were many joggers & bikers out on the trails this morning. Oh well, I can't have it to myself all the time.
Hiya matches! I love the symbolism of Spring!! The fertility symbols of eggs and multiplying bunnies! Sweets, Sun, and Rebirth!! Jesus rose when he did for a reason as He is the Sun of God!!! My town is so pretty right now! Thanks for the reflections, matches!! Spring Fever!!! Watch out, ladies!! Haha
Matches860 hahaha! I do too....but it’s different now. As a kid, I could care less about the flowers and stuff, haha! Of course, that may happen when you move to a small town from Long Beach, Ca!! Huge difference! Have a great weekend, Matches!
What a great view out there. It is fun going back, for me the time I loved the most was summer. Winters where I grew up were mild and most we ever saw was rain. The smells of food on the grill, the ice cold lemonade, and kids running around the sprinkler in the grass. Have an awesome Easter John, happy piping brother.
Hello John Just returned from the work shift and watched this awesome video,I do love spring and hot summers, in the 68 I was just one year of age, lol, Best greets ,happy Easter and warm spring days To You and Yer Beloved ones, Paul

Such a thought provoking set of memories of times gone bye ! Really appreciate your sharing of these wonderful things that you have experienced with us ! Have a wonderful weekend Brother
The chimney was a mess so I sat on a fallen tree and used it as a back drop. Next weekend is the town wide cleanup,I should come out and work on it LOL.
MATCHESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 860 HAPPY Friday John! Thanks for the great video... because I understand completely what you're talkin about especially about living in the past and the memories that come with spring and right away it triggered quite a few so I have a great appreciation for that video so I see the chimney in the background so I think we have made it I think we have survived another New England winter take care of John have a great Easter my friend 😁👍🏻
Yes the circle of time holds so many memories and as we come back to those points in the circle again and again we reflect on them. The 13 year old boy and made his mark on that point in time as the wheel turned again and again. Both time and space alter themselves on behalf of the constant of light, if you are to believe in Eisteins theory. If the now exists where the concentration of light is strongest I sometimes wonder if the dim past is some way doesnt look towards us and the blurry future isnt looking back at us as well. Do these certain points within the ever repeating wheel of time open a link from us to the past that is deeper than memory? Time itself is a fascinating enigma for study outside our lineal perception of it. The depths and heights of the universe hold so many ever evolving secrets. Great video John.
G'day John. My memories of early teen hood are good ones and being a teen through the 1970's was awesome. The difference is we were always in search of autumn. Still are, summer is hanging on like a dog with a bone right now. By the way mate, I finally took the plunge and ordered some "haunted bookshop" I have become a happy convert. Enjoy your spring Bro. Regards, Kevin from Australia.
Autumn has always been special as well, but I suppose it was the fact that we were so sick of winter that made spring special, not to mention that the school year was more than half over.
Thanks brother , another good video. The red bud trees in spring down here in the Ozarks almost glow in the spring moon light an the smell of the first fresh cut hay still takes me back. Thank You for taking us back with a pipe and a story. 😎
It does not hurt annyone to think of past time. Spring brings happy days. Smoke a pipe in the sticks does good aswel just missing the coffee :D Greetings,, Kitty.
You can’t live in the past, but it sure is a nice place to visit. Beautiful sentiments as always, my friend. Thanks for sharing. Happy spring and happy Easter!
Hey John, it’s always fun to revisit the past! This reminds me of the story my Dad has told me many times...it was 1960, and it snowed every Wednesday for a month! I guess that was pretty odd for NC! Thanks for the video, I hope you and the family have an awesome Easter! Take care!
Hi Shawn, I do recall one spring (1964) in your neck of the woods. We stopped in York, PA and then on to D.C. I believe we hit Gettysburg on the way back. Beautiful country.
Lovely video John! Yes, Spring! Nothing to really start your day well, than hearing the beautiful sound of the birds! Also, your video title caught my eye. When I was a kid, I used to watch the program, In Search Of...
I wanted to do this video the past couple years, but trying to make it work is difficult. When I settled on the title, I felt like I was already telling the story...funny how stuff works backwards sometimes LOL.
Excellent video taking me back to my youth of the sights and smells of Spring. The mind may forget the past but the body’s senses sure can take us back to relive the magic as you say. Wish those folks making the noise in the background knew how famous and important you are and give you some peace and quiet! Happy Easter!
Thanks for that John! Great thoughts als always! And...it may explain the behavior of those teenagers in my last video...LOL Take care! Hope, you're well! Mark

Well it’s pouring rain here in TN, but it’s been spring for some time now. Down here we fear the summer more than the winter I think, it crested 80 for the first time this year on Tuesday, and it stays hot until October! Oh well, Burley goes well with hot weather, so I’m all set 👍 see you this evening?
It will be pouring rain here tonight as well, several inches expected. We will remain on the cool side probably till June when the real heat sets in. Give me 75 or less and I'm happy!

Nice story John....The park looks great.....love the Springtime air.
Unfortunately, they have removed a hunk of the woods over towards the right of where I was sitting to make room for another playing field.
I was in the Central Highlands of Vietnam as a surgeon in 1968. I must admit the area was beautiful
I remember watching a documentary where one serviceman was mentioning beautiful flowers which were getting demolished by severe bombing. So tragic!

This is a classic example of what made Matches860 (John) so special. This just magical. I miss him so much
Spring....when a young man’s thoughts turn to what young women have been thinking about all along.
LOL, but they don't tell you that till much later!
In 1968 I was -2 but I absolutely get it. I feel sorry for folk born in climates that don’t have proper springs or autumns.
I agree, after an extreme winter, spring is as good as life gets!
Greetings from New York....👌
