Im not going to talk about the core game, since i see many other comments doing that, but mainly just an overall look at the game. I don't think it's just a trend at all (this game is still pretty fresh and unique when it comes to the average FPS game). Whats happening right now is that the game is stabilizing, in terms of its content and specifically its playerbase. I don't think anyone expected the game to consistenly keep a 200,000+ player base, not right off the bat. Alot of the people just riding on the game because of the hype as well as most of the cheaters have all left the game, causing the player count to drop but more importantly leaving an actual solid player base who enjoy the game and will continue to play it for the long run. I also do think alot of people simply just got burnt out and are taking a break which is normal. It may seem like im just dick riding but I really believe Embark has been listening to the community and have been issuing out patches and updates left and right (the aim assist nerf, addressing the cheaters, adding a solo mode etc) hell they're even going to overhaul the Recon Sense perk, something that fans have been begging for. The game aint perfect and it 100% needs more content, but they have been listening and they have been addressing the issues about the game, and they're doing it better than most AAA FPS games nowadays so you have to commend them for that.
You’re not alone. Boring is a great way to describe how I feel as well. Lack of variety (due to meta gaming) and poor overall experience due to strict SBMM has made the game no longer fun. Personally, what I tend to see is 90% light class lobbies in bank it and nearly 100% mediums in ranked. It’s the same game every game while Embark (in my opinion) continues to make poor, questionable balance changes while also failing to continue adding content. I know the launch wasn’t that long ago, but they are competing with games that are already well established and the only way to retain players is constantly pump out new stuff. Waiting 3 months at a time for anything new will not cut it.
I only play casual bank it and i personally find the game really fun. I have over 24 hours of play time so far and i'm still enjoying it. I feel that i'd be in the same boat as the poster if i tried to grind out comp.
From the first moment I saw gameplay for The Finals I knew that meta would be the undoing of any fun you could possibly derive from this game. There is nothing fun about meta in a game designed to be a sandbox shooter. Right now all I see are Heavies and Mediums healslutting and using double-shields because that's the only consistent way to steal a cashout.
I feel like heavy class is better than medium and light. It feels unkillable due to its HP and the shields, high damage and high ammo capacity. If you're fighting on your own as a light or medium most of the times the heavy will win
I agree with you despite what other comments are, was fun first week or so untill the meta was established by like day 8 of release. Feel like it’s more of issue with metas existing in a gaming the reality is 99% of gamers aren’t pros but try to play like them. And when I want to try to have fun with a werid loadout or character but its impossible to use in even causal that’s when a game becomes more than just a balancing issue.
yah i agree with that. its the reason why i stopped playing a lot of games. theres always some meta and everyone just does the same thing and it gets cheesy and annoying.
Medium is the best class in the game lol after the heavy nerfs and being the only class to have access to recon and defib The scar is basically a death laser its so easy to control, you should be beaming lights down in half a clip
I don't think The Finals were ever going to takeoff because there are just so many tropes and game mechanics that it covers that already exist in a lot of other games. The two best FPS I've been enjoying this year and last are Ready or Not and SQUAD. Very great shooters, although a completely different genre. They're simulators, not e-sports related at all. Overall, hope to see more content from you by the way!
@@SirSoaks Yeah, I fixed the wording, but I stand by what I said. It really didn't take off because it really couldn't sustain its player count. That's what I meant by "take-off" so to speak.
Huh, interesting. I personally like Vegas the most (lack of entrances aside) and Seul the least. Even my buds agree that Seul is the by far the least fun map even though they also dislike Vegas unlike me
I don't think this game was ever intended to be "the next big shooter" and kill off all the other games you played. Just a fun and passion project from the devs. I doubt even they expected to have this many players. I feel the same. The "meta" trend will go to all games. Each game will always have it's "best" set ups to play with. No hiding from that. The devs have been super responsive and seem to care about the "fun factor" the most. Give it time and you'll either grow into it or out. Not all games can cater to EVERYone, but I heard the devs love this project and are prioritizing fun over anything else.
Its funny how universally vegas is disliked, i hope they take it out too it just isnt fun, apex adding new maps and rotating them is what killed the game for me too. Apart from that the recent update has changed my other biggest issue with the game, the c4, arena carriable spam. I see it a lot less now.
I do think this game is a trend, from what I've seen, all my friends have stop playing this game too. You can look up the steam chart as well, it's on a decline. But if you ask me why, I think it all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I didn't like the gameplay of the game and also the gunplay. I do play all sort of fps game, from apex, cod, overwatch, battlefield, and valorant. This game doesn't strike to me as much as these other games. Not sure about the metas or cheaters (cuz I stopped right after the beta), but I do agree solo queue in this game is much more pain in the ass than other game, I've come across many full party teams and theres not much that you can do as a solo person, there's no reward in solo carrying. But do correct me if I'm wrong, might be just a skill issue playing this game?
What is bro yapping about😂 the hype is still there they adjusted the balance in the latest patch. Nukes are no more, they nerfed invis, nerfed the shotgun, nerfed mesh shields, adjusted aim assist, and other quality of life changes. You should keep your info updated
Alright nah, Ive listen to you yap for 5 mins.. bro Mediums have so much versatility… what are you talking about “aim is the main thing of your kit” Turrets Jumpad Defibs All these gadgets make you versatile when combined. You are incharge of movement, defense and support for your team with JUST THOSE GADGETS You’re playing this game like its not team based. You’re playing it like its CoD almost, when in reality its not I can sympathize with you but I fully disagree with some of your points, if not most of them, this video just doesn’t come across as constructive AT ALL, just sounds like you bitchin’ for 10 mins
Lmao and he basically complains that medium doesn’t have the same abilities as the other two classes.. sounds like he doesn’t understand the team dynamic
Turrets, Jump pad and Defibs won't do you much good against Heavies throwing C4 barrels at you, RPG's (besides preplaced ADS) and Invisible Lights (beside sonar which isn't consistent). All the things you listed are reactionary measures. You're right that Medium is good for defense, but what then for offence? You and two other mediums are trying to take a cashout against a team of one build each, which then leads to my point that you have to role with the common meta to win games. I appreciate your opinion. My perspective is that the developing meta of the game is making the gameplay linear and static.
It honestly does sound like he got destroyed by nukes one game and started crying in a video thinking people would side with him on youtube instead of Reddit.
@@AccountBurner turrets jump pads and defibs arent SUPPOSED to counteract heavies throwing C4 barrels but with that said I do agree like everyone else that something needs to be done about the nukes.
Wanna know the secret to enjoying games? Stop being a meta slave and pretend you're playing a pve game. Find very niche stuff like the sword, dagger, throwing knifes, sledge+goo gun or riot shield on medium, even some guns like the revolver could be your cup of tea, idk but either way you find these unique things and you play them and dont care about winning, just enjoy the game and pretend everyone else but your team are ai pve players because with how sheep like and win hungry everyone is, you will face the same stuff over an over but that's no different than say playing gears back in the day or destiny 2, and than every once and awhile you'll come across some guy running sword also or using something unique and they're good with it and theres your raid bosses 😂 I faced a team of sword players the other day and we were playing a totally different game, they were hunting me down not caring about the point and I just ignored my team and hunted them and I was having 1v2s and 1v3s with these sword players and it felt like i was playing fps final fantasy lmao we lost miserably but I would like to think me and that purple team were the true winners, so fun is what you make of it, if you're always negative about the game and just chasing wins like your life depends on it than I think that's the problem most people fall into.
