- NOFX - Backstage Passport is the Fuse all-access documentary series that follows longtime punk band NOFX on their 2008 world tour. NOFX was formed by vocalist and bassist Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin in 1983. The two rallied up some musician friends in Los Angeles, and put out their debut EP in 1985. NOFX rose to popularity and went gold with their 1994 album Punk in Drublic. With over 20 years on the scene, NOFX has been through it all and stood the test of time. After the success of Punk in Drublic, NOFX received offers to sign with major labels, but took a stand by staying on indie label Epitaph Records. The band has taken influences from punk rock, skate punk, and ska punk, focusing heavily on themes like politics, society, racism, the government and politics, and religion. The band has been known to dislike the media, doing very few interviews and only making a handful of music videos, so Fuse's series is a rare treat. Join Fat Mike, Eric Melvin, El Hefe, Erik Sandin, as the guys tour in places like Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru and Japan, meeting crazed fans from around the world on NOFX - Backstage

One thing I learned from season 1: I can book NOFX, promise tons of kids excited to see them, then tell them I am not paying.
Standard operating procedure for promoters throughout the 80s and 90s. Not just in the punk world either. Every band had to have muscle to deal with shady promoters.

Trust NoFX to do things a little differently.
Usually it's the manager keeping the band drunk and high, so he can screw them over financially.
In their case, the manager is drunker than any of the band, and they're all getting screwed over financially by the promoters.

I was there , i saw NOFX concert in Jakarta, hope nofx comeback again someday.. Fat mike said "there is a thousand poor kids out there" at the concert, i remembered it

Reading the reactions, it surprises me how few people get what this tour was all about. They already knew they were probably gonna get ripped off a lot. But it was about the adventure, and about doing something bands don't usually do. The 'kids' in these countries don't usually get to see bands like NoFx. Fuck the money, they make enough to live a good life, so why would they need more.

In the 80's a lot of the metal bands would apparently have their "security" go collect the money after the show, if you catch my drift. At the show in China, they had 1500 people attend at roughly $20 a ticket, which comes to around $30k. That Jason douche was saying the venue can charge up to $50k to use that space? Suuuure they do, which means at BEST you are already in the red by as much as $20k? Must be that funny math.
