What I find so interesting is that you can have something so intricate and layered and still be able to dress yourself. With many other fashions, outfits with this many pieces would require help putting on. I'm super impressed 😍
Right?? European and American women back in the 1800's needed a maid to undo a corset, assistance in putting on farthingales etc but these are simple enough to do on your own

Some of the earlier stages of wearing these could look almost like tradition-inspired modern outfits, too! And of course, the full ensembles are gorgeous.
I'm pretty sure most of those costumes aren't 100% accurate and are inspired by modern fashion.

Im Chinese and sadly I've only worn those kind of dresses once, I saw these dresses in a shop with a lot of traditional dresses. I was very young at the time. Honestly speaking, though, you don't have to be Chinese to wear these dresses! I'd be fine with it, as a Chinese person.
I really love the Chinese traditional clothing, I even have a Hanfu it's really pretty I hope in the future to buy more traditional clothing from other countries + I love learning about Chinese history it's really interesting, like the myths and everything .

If these were the clothes worn by the ladies during the Han dynasty then these prove that China was really one of the most prosperous nations in the world during ancient times.
A lot of these clothes could only be worn by noble ppl, means the upper class back then. Ordinary ppl could not even dream of such fabrics and designs. Lots of them were slaves too, for rich ppl. The slavery system was very profound in Ancient China. As such rather than a prosperous nation, just wealthy ppl in a country. There was also restrictions in designs. Like only certain ppl can wear certain colors and designs. Jewelry too. Everything was separated by a class system.

I've always loved seeing other culture and their own traditions and traditional clothing. Like this or the long term "fake" tattoo (sorry, don't know the name) in some other countries. Sometimes I think: "Just the clothes from my "culture" (I'm french born in Canada, so half one and half the other) looks so boring compered to those. When I was little I was sad when my mom explained to me why my hair couldn't be braided like Africain people!

Thank you! Unfortunately, South koreans are appropriating Chinese culture and distorting history in order to claim these clothing as theirs. Although Chinese culture has influenced korean culture, there are still differences between these two. But koreans are claiming Chinese culture such as Hanfu being part of korean culture, and misleading others into believing that korea influenced China. In kpop, they began using these clothing without giving any credits. Now, they are forbidding Chinese from wearing their own traditional clothing :(

In the old days we could communicate with each other through Hanzi (china), Hanja (korea), Kanji (japan), Hantu (Vietnam). But right now we can only communicate with each other through English. The West has divided our East very deeply.

I think the thing that impresses me most, after the fabrics and designs themselves, is that every component of each ensemble ADDS JUST a PERFECT ELEMENT to the final effect, without ever seeming to be too much or overdone. With each successive layer it comes more refined - it never looks cluttered or messy. That is a design achievement.

Until the reform and opening up, there was a group photo of 56 ethnic groups in China. Each ethnic group wore its own ethnic clothing. Only the Han people passed on shirts and bibs. What is this? After 340 years, we have even forgotten what our national costume is. Poor? I feel very poor.
