Im Chinese and sadly I've only worn those kind of dresses once, I saw these dresses in a shop with a lot of traditional dresses. I was very young at the time. Honestly speaking, though, you don't have to be Chinese to wear these dresses! I'd be fine with it, as a Chinese person.

I've always loved seeing other culture and their own traditions and traditional clothing. Like this or the long term "fake" tattoo (sorry, don't know the name) in some other countries. Sometimes I think: "Just the clothes from my "culture" (I'm french born in Canada, so half one and half the other) looks so boring compered to those. When I was little I was sad when my mom explained to me why my hair couldn't be braided like Africain people!

Although Chinese culture has influenced korean culture, there are still differences between these two. But koreans are claiming Chinese culture such as Hanfu being part of korean culture, and misleading others into believing that korea influenced China. In kpop, they began using these clothing without giving any credits. Now, they are forbidding Chinese from wearing their own traditional clothing :(

A lot of these clothes could only be worn by noble ppl, means the upper class back then. Ordinary ppl could not even dream of such fabrics and designs. Lots of them were slaves too, for rich ppl. The slavery system was very profound in Ancient China. As such rather than a prosperous nation, just wealthy ppl in a country. There was also restrictions in designs. Like only certain ppl can wear certain colors and designs. Jewelry too. Everything was separated by a class system.

I think the thing that impresses me most, after the fabrics and designs themselves, is that every component of each ensemble ADDS JUST a PERFECT ELEMENT to the final effect, without ever seeming to be too much or overdone. Lot's of them seem delusional, I have seen ancient Chinese paintings and even ancient Chinese archeological discovery of more than 2000 yeara old and still I find them wearing hanfu and even Chinese goddess wear it. Korean dresses are well preserved in North Korea and I also find them beautiful.
