It’s a way. But it’s funded by alumni and community members. Keep in mind the church spent 1.36 billion in humanitarian and emergency response projects in 2023 across 191 countries, the church isn’t spearheading its mission via BYU athletics.
Before NIL players still got paid NIL. And yes some programs got punished for it but more often than not they looked the other way. The only difference now is that teams like BYU can get involved because it isn't breaking the rules to use your booster funds anymore.
For those athletes who want to go pro, then go to PRO-vo! To continue to raise the tide and lift all boats, then seize the leverage and build momentum going forward!
I really hope someone can answer this question that addresses future concerns for BYU Basketball. I am concerned, with my limited knowledge/experience, that recruiting great potential for the Basketball program at the Y has the potential to dry up the LDS recruiting feed line of players who now really want to play for "KYU". If we get more and more non-LDS commits, (not that there is anything inherently wrong with that), and the LDS kids begin to feel that they are losing their chances to play because of a change in focus for recruiting in that direction, will we actually hurt the program/mission of BYU as time goes by. I suppose the same concern may be applied to the Football program and other sports teams at the Y. Like I say, I am just asking, maybe a question that has no basis in future effects, but the question comes to my mind that I would appreciate other's thoughts on it. Thanks, "Go Cougars".
Part of me loves this, and part of me wishes that BYU would get out of sports all together and just be a top tier educational institution. It all still feels like a racket to me🤷
There is or can be a philosophical conundrum. We all have modern idols. Competing in the world but not being of the world etc. it seems the administration and coaches are aware and are trying to keep the proper balance.
This is the best way to get BYU and the LDS church to get people to look at them.

Excellent episode 👍
YOOO I went to Higley High School, great place. The knights' football program has really been producing the last couple of years
The way you are pronouncing Braithwaite is killing me, Braith rhythms with Faith, it does not rhyme with wrath!
Love your show! Go Cougs!!
The last name for Reynaldo & Justice is Brathwaite, not Braithwaite. I pronounced it correctly. Thanks!

10-fold indeed!
Do you think the football team will also get the same kind of NIL money 💰 that the basketball team is getting?
No.our main NIL source is Ryan Smith. He's interested in the basketball side of things. But football will still have plenty of resources.... I hope

Enjoy that 1 season. Salute BYU
I'll be enjoying all these seasons
Then the next. And the next. It always starts with that 1 season. Salutes back.

There has to be chemistry. BYU doesn't have it right now. If you have that with high talent, there's is no ceiling.
No… byu football does not have as much NFL coaching experience….
Who is Ryder Burton😂

I should say, it wouldn't bother me if BYU dumped sports all together
