- This is my uncles 1980 Pontiac grand am that he bought brand new. It sat in a gravel pit for a number of years and we ended up rescuing it. This is the first bit of material that we ever recorded. Unfortunately life got busy after this and we kinda gave up on the idea but since then we have decided to give this thing another try. Check it out ! Let us know what we should do with the car !
My buddy had a '79. Really nice driving and looking. Very hard to find one!
301 is pontiac 307 is oldsmobile.301 is lighter than a chevy 305.
Sell it to a Pontiac collector who will keep it original, right down to the Q-Jet that you wiped out. Q-Jets aren't hard to rebuild, the "problem" with them are the "mechanics" that attempt to "fix" them.
it wasn’t the original carb otherwise I would have kept it. I don’t care to keep it carbureted anyways. Much rather have an LS in it or at least a Holley Sniper kit on it.
@@Boostdsuprsport Talk about going backwards times two.
@@googleusergp sorry friend ! I totally understand being a purist and what not but I’ll likely never sell the car and it much prefer the horsepower and drivability over keeping it all original. I wish I did have the original carb for it and I do feel silly for smashing this one but it is what it is. I’m going to hang on to the 301 regardless of what ends up going in the car
@@Boostdsuprsport At the end of the day, it's your car, you do what you want. As others have said, a Pontiac 400 or 455 are readily available and bolt right in without an issue. You can then fuel inject that (if you must). The car stays Pontiac powered as it is now and not a "Chevyiac". LS swapping takes zero talent, it's easy. Keeping the car pure Pontiac is what takes skill---and doing it right is a skill that most folks don't have. That's why they go the "Chevyiac" route.
@@googleusergp to be honest you’re absolutely right and having a 455 in it would be SUPER COOL and should make lots of power as well. It’s likely the best option for the car, I’m not sure what it would be like finding one here though. I’m not sure where you’re at but they’re kinda getting scarce in the area I’m from
I know I'm late to this, but YES, frame swap & keep it Pontiac, 400s are easy enough to get. And because it's a 301 car, now it's a bolt in! Find a BOP 200r4, & your set!
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
They all need frames.. big block yep big blocks make everything cooler
Pontiac 455 would be neat
Just came across this tonight. Did you ever do anything with this car??
Dave
I’ve got in stored in a dry safe spot but unfortunately I haven’t done anything with it yet. I have intentions to though. I think it’s going to need a frame unfortunately as there are fist sized holes throughout. I’d love to have it as a Restomod type car but keep the original paint and interior in the car
Sorry for the late response as well. I was in a bit of a UA-cam hiatus
@@Boostdsuprsport No worries! Sometimes you gotta take a break! Hope you post up some updates when you finally get some time. Not many of these are being saved! All the best!
Dave
@@Teamchevy001 thank you ! I definitely will be ☺️
Would you like to part it out or sell it whole as parts
I think I’m going to keep it and fix it up on the channel at some point tbh. Just been swamped with everything else going on so it’s been tough to keep this rolling. I’m back now though ! … for now 😂
Can I buy this car from you? I will properly restore her and bring her back to prominence 🙏🏽
Bring it to anchorage
Isn’t that in Alaska ?! 🤔
yes sir it is
@@jemondtate9350 bit of a drive 😂 I’ve always wanted to go though tbh
Bout break up season…

Time to call VGG and get that thing running and drive it to Tim’s.
Definitely going to need some lumber for the frame repair 😂
Scrap it before putting a crappy chevy engine in it. Put a Buick Oldsmobile Ford Mopar in it anything but chivy. I know be original keep the 301 and put real pontiac heads on it.
Awd 5.3 with boost
You’re kinda speaking my language 😂
Frame swap motor home 454 and leave the paint as is
