Also they have lost hope. My dad worked as a printer then a computer technician and he was able to buy a massive house with grounds and support my mum and 3 kids. We had decent cars, bikes and 2 speed boats over the years. No weekends worked and no silly shifts.
This was the longest video in the best way possible in that it is a mere 5 minutes long but dense with goodness. It was great hearing you speak. I find it very discouraging when I'm told our generation is weak as i try to navigate the world now as Gen Z, on the cusp of starting his career and having a hard time with it. I truly do feel weak because if I am struggling so much and my best is still not good enough, how did the generations before me manage. Hearing your outlook and a quick generational breakdown was enjoyable to hear and certainly encouraging! At the end you mentioned how we as Gen Z "have a greater ocean of information and choices to make", and though I agree, I think in my (not fully informed) opinion, it has been overwhelming and has led to a regression in the number of people thinking for themselves. It seems though as if we are defaulting to whatever seems easiest or most attractive because, now more than ever, we are free to do so.
It's my personal opinion that Gen Z has the most difficult challenge facing human society so far and I believe they are rising to the challenge and older generations have no right to be critical and should be offering more support and I think they would if they had a better understanding of just how overwhelming and uncertain the world of today is.
One could argue that it's gone the other way, and people not only think for themselves (rightly or wrongly) but actively seek-out reinforcing arguments to support their ideas, irrespective of counter evidence.
@@neilcarpenter1972 It's an interesting philosophical debate - to what extent are our thoughts our own? In a very real sense all of our thoughts are manipulated by outside forces and, one could argue that they're not independent at all. @@sacredgeometry To be honest, I wouldn't really blame the youngest generations for that. The vast majority of people are not what is considered Generation Z, and the leaders of institutions like education and media are not people I would call "spring chickens".

Yes I would say we are more open minded (I am gen z) but it is a strength and a weakness. The previous generations had subscribed better to Christian values which produced the prosperous and peaceful societies of the time. It was precisely obedience and respect of authority which assisted the western world in its success and it is precisely disobedience to Christian values which is producing the decline of the west today. No brother I do not follow your hope because my generation are lost amidst all kinds of sin; greed, sexual immorality, idolatry which directly inhibits them because of there open mindedness. Jesus tells us the path is straight and narrow, it requires discipline and with compassion I’m sad to say my generation are a generation of broad minded, lazy, aimless, hopeless, souls and the reason being our lack of ethics. There is an attack against us all in the west and it is precisely the rise of this Atheistic, open to anything ideology which is the route of it. It’s happened time and again through the century’s but man never learns, environmentalism and wokeisim are precisely that.
I was thinking and hoping we had grown beyond the need for organised religion like Christianity but you make a valid point. Clearly the western world desperately needs Christian values to keep society sane and civilised. In the long run it may be our only hope.

These times are economically tougher, for sure, but it's amazing how many still manage to afford huge TVs, Playstations and Iphones.

There is a lot of that, for sure. I still believe there is more independent thought than during previous eras.

That might be true if there hadnt felt like a massive regression in the amount of people that are able to properly actually think for themselves.
I know it certainly hasn't looked good the last few years, but I still think the trend is in a positive direction.
