    In a primary election, voter chooses the candidate of a party for the general election.
    In a closed primary, voter can only vote for a candidate of the party that they themself are registered with.
    In a open primary, voter can vote for a candidate from any party.
    In a caucus, local party members meet to vote for a candidate from their party.
