I have a very deep appreciation for Matty Healy's existence.
i love how he looks at her at 4:17 while her hair is all up in her face hahahah
+alisha33x i think he was looking at her like that because she said "is there somebody who can watch you" and he was just confused about the question but then it was just the name so he got back to normal
I adore the fact that he's so honest :)
for everyone getting annoyed just because Matty voiced his opinion on God, don't be. Going to Church doesn't make you a good person, and going to parties doesn't make you a bad person- I think by denying him his right to voice his opinion is a contradiction to all those who are religious and state that God is real, and class that as a fact. If someone can say He is real, then somebody can say He isn't. Respect everyone equally- just don't get pissed at Matty.
amen
So true! I get really annoyed by those people who want you to respect their opinion but they don't respect others.
my respect grew for him just for his elaboration on antichrist
HE IS SO HOT
god yes
"Talk:Do u know someone who talks alot of bullshit and dosent stop?" "Me" :') gotta love matty
The interviewer is getting really good answers out of him
I envy matty, I wish I had such a deep outlook on everything like he does, he's flawless.
Engage in deep thoughts then.Come up with your own opinion on ideas that appeal to you or grabs your attention, regardless of in a good or bad way....
I believe in God, and I believe in the importance of music, and I believe in accepting opinions that contradict mine. I already loved Matty and the 1975 prior to watching this video, and I love him even more after. The way that he expresses himself and his beliefs, with genuine honesty, made me respect him so much more. I think we, as human nature provokes, tend to romanticize celebrities. We make them idols and role-models without their consent/intensions, and when they voice an opinion that we don't agree on, we suddenly look down upon them. It's ridiculous. I would love to have a conversation with Matt when he's drunk or smoking a cigarette. He feels so 'normal,' flawed, and relatable. Most celebrities feel unattainable or simply just unreal bc they allow the media to mold them into a sort of hero or villein. Matty is blunt and he values his music more than what people will think of him, which is pretty damn admirable.
brilliantly said babe
Really nice interview. Cheers to the girl and to Matty for being honest about how he feels and thinks.
lol I've started to learn about when Matty is irritated in an interview or not
is he in this?
me too haha
+nikiwasnthere Exactly. I love how moody he can be sometimes! xD
+Simpson Street Sessions no he isn't
'Unfortunately kids god doesn't exist he's not there' HAHAHHAHA I don't know why the way he said it made me laugh so much ahaaha ily
Love this interviewer haha "holy shit"
hah thanks man. that's me doing the best to control my out of control swearing
This would have to be one of my favourite interviews ever
thanks!
he's a straight forward person and thats the reason why i have so much respect for him! btw this would be one of my favourite interview!
my heart crashed slowly seeing his face and reaction to the milk question like... i can't get over it
I agree, but look at our boy now!
my right ear is lonely!
I know!! Im so sorry. have no idea why its doing that
he wrote all of those songs from personal experience so of course he's gonna answer yes to the majority of them.. haha
I believe in God, but I actually like the fact that he's so open about his opinions. If more people were like that, if more people could handle hearing others' opinions without feeling offended by them, no one would be surprised by his statement and no one would ever feel ashamed of admitting they're religious because they fear the social consequences, especially in a world where religion causes so much division instead of unity.
+M this is really well-said, totally agree
This is one of my favorite interviews about the 1975. Simple and straight forward. I also like their straight and snappy questions about the band's songs and consequently, Matty's honest answers. Though when it got to antichrist and drugs i got sad. But I still commend how he handles himself and be just so honest and be cool naturally. I hope he could find faith and God soon.
also, i looove the interviewer she's so cool. great one, mate! ;)
Camz Ramos thanks mate!
okay but this is a really good interview considering that matty always speaks his mind with no filter and so much honesty. i liked his answers a lot
As soon as she got to "Antichrist" towards the end of this video, it went downhill and got a bit sad for me. I'm all about respecting views even when I disagree, and it wasn't just his comment about God that made me a bit sad, but also his comment about partying. That just sounds like a sad perspective on life to me.
A lot of people need drugs and alcohol to have a good time though. I don't drink, smoke or take drugs but I still don't judge him based on his answer. Those are his decisions and he will have to live with his own regret later in life.
Well I never said I judged him, I said it seems like a sad perspective on life to me. Sad as in legitimately makes me sorrowful because he feels that way. (Dunno if you were implying that or not, but that's the way I took your comment.)
Laney Penn i share matty's views and respect yours, and i do have to say it is a sad outlook. i envy many people who can put faith in a higher power. for me (and i suppose for him as well, although i cannot speak for him), it is very hard to accept religion or god. i do not often accept things at face value, and god is not a very in depth thing for me that can be felt and/or explained. i dont know, just thought i'd share my views. :)
sdriscoll45 why would you envy delusions for the sake of fooling oneself into a fake happiness and satisfaction, it's like a red pill blue pill matrix arguement. Do you really want to live in a dream world of lies or do you want to live in the world of truth that seems bleak but you can work to improve it having known the truth (that there is no proof of a god and that it does not exist)
***** i envy those delusions simply because they are enough to fool oneself into thinking they are safe or happy. i would rather live in a dream of satisfaction, but i am not that way. i am a very pessimistic person and i tend to see the negative in everything and everyone; which can be constructive at times. i think a certain amount of oblivion is good, that's why i envy them. But, ultimately I agree with you
He is so fucking real,it's ridiculous
words can not explain how matty healy's voice // matty healy makes me feel.
I loved the song questions!
She is a great interviewer this was great not like all the others
thankyou Ellie!
The fact that he didn't lie about what he thinks is something really cool, some artists lie to their fans so they can be considered as "sweet" or "lovely" people, but he doesn't care about that and that's quite cool. I have to say that it was obviously wrong when he said that God doesn't exist, because that's not something that he actually knows, because let's be honest, nobody knows, but it's a personal opinion, someone asked that and he answered what he actually thought so that's cool.
Basically, because the fact that you believe that he exists doesn't mean that he actually does, but everyone has a different opinion, that's mine, I believe in God, I do, but I can't tell you "God exists, you need to believe in God" because you may have a different opinion, and that's okay. The thing is that you cannot try to convince someone that something exists or not without any prove. But you can believe in whatever you want, I'm not trying to tell you something rude, it's just what I believe, I respect what you believe, really. xx
I love how her nonchalant approach and not the same boring questions won him over and he enjoyed it
"These are colorful so I'm not happy about that" I'm laughing
I still have them if you want them
Simpson Street Sessions can i have it? pls lol
Am I seriously the only one that noticed he said "...and sex" at 5:24 when she asked him if he needed drugs and alchohol to have a good time at a party?
He said "Yeah... it's sad." after she went "Aww".
Regina López it kinda looks like he said it when she put the Mikrophone to her
Im on the same level with matty when it comes to God & faithfulness-like ive been raised to believe that God is real, but a part of my feels as if Hes not real. I envy the faithful as well, but yeah.
Matt is just...flawless
* "Matty, if we are going to do it properly"
hellyeah997 cute huh
I've always been a religious person, but I don't have any problem with what Matty said. I think unless you're raised in an environment where you're brought to church or have a family talking about their religious beliefs constantly, it would be hard, especially for someone as intelligent as Matty, to believe in God. He definitely seems like the type to need physical proof of something to believe it's real as well, and there's nothing wrong with that. I think if you're a very logical person then it can also make it hard to have beliefs in something you've never seen. He's said in another interview as well that he doesn't like the fact religion divides people so much and can dictate whether someone lives or dies in some cases, and I completely understand that. He always talks about how the world would be a better place if people were educated and didn't have religion, and I honestly think that's because of the way religion divides society, and it makes total sense to me. This is coming from a person who's gone to church since infancy. And if you're bothered by the way he said "god's not real, he's not there' to the camera, I think you just need to realise that the interviewer asked his opinion and he was giving it, so you can't really complain. He's not forcing you to believe anything, and I think if religion didn't have the divisive ways that it does then he wouldn't have as much of a problem with it. I mean, I myself have had doubts about God's existence, and have wondered if it's not just a way to make some humans feel like they're being looked out for, and to be less afraid of death. So basically what i'm saying is, people just need to be more open minded; if you have a problem with what he says, you're giving religion a bad name because God wouldn't want his followers to be judgmental of others even if they don't believe in him.
+Jillian Johnsen plus I'll say, Matty obviously doesn't pretend to be perfect, and I like that about him. So if he words things in bad ways sometimes it doesn't mean you should jump on him for it; real people make mistakes sometimes. But the thing about Matty that I love is, he acknowledges those mistakes, and understands how he is perceived by people, which just shows you how intelligent he is and that he never does/says anything with bad intentions. RANT FINISHED.
this is my fave interview by far
I admire his honesty. Right on.
This interview was really cool! She did a great job, and I like the way he is so honest
I'm so in love with this. Not only is the interview amazing and hilarious. But Matty is so like, he acts really offended and thrown off but he's just like bantering the whole time and it is AMAZING.
hey thanks emilea!
Matty - "They're just girls"
Me- *screams* "BREAKING HEARTS!"
no thankyou for your message! you're more than welcome there needs to be more interviewers like you. i could say more if i could think of how to put it into words you're just fantastic. ah thankyou so much for taking your time to share that with me i appreciate it so much :) i thought he would've been a sweetheart he seems so gentle and soft hearted but yet damaged emotionally/mentally in some sort of way... idk that's probably just me examining things too much but THANKYOU SO MUCH! :)
anytime ;)
Thankyou for this interview. It's so real and great. Love itttttt
He literally turned into a bogan with those glasses etc on haha

'no unfortunately kids, god isn't there'. hahahahahahahahaha
One of my fav interviews!
This is an amazing interview :)
there are things that he said made me upset but i don't care I still love MATTY
Simpson Street Sessions i absolutely loved this interview you're awesome! i love that you showed no reaction/judgement to him taking drugs or being with someone who already had a partner. you're so casual and such an easy going, non-pushy interviewer! also was he bubbly at all before/after? in a lot of his interviews he seems quite reserved/sad/depressed. thanks! x
hey Chloe. Thanks for your message! thanks for saying such nice things. I'm not here to judge people, I'm here for the music. :) Matty was a real sweetheart. I thought he was going to be moody n sulky but he was actually very pleasant and polite. he had just done the set at BDO, then did an interview before me, so I was surprised how accommodating he was. Afterwards, we had a little chat and before he left he said, 'lets get a photo!' so I got a photo with him, told him to never stop making music, then he kissed me on the cheek and whisked off to the next interview.
You did a great job on interviewing him! And he did a brilliant job too..just being him haha. X
thanks for saying
"have you ever met someone once and fell in love with them at the moment?" "yes" foreshadowing She's American??
+bea // woah broooo I never thought about that till now
he said often too so I'm just going to meet him and I will be the one he falls in love with
"it's actually matty if we're gonna do this properly"
damn i have watched this so many times. great interview, really unique !
This is by far the best interview I have seen in a long time!
of him or just in general?!
Definitely!
this has to be my favorite interview
LOVE THIS INTERVIEW.
Such a good interview. The questions and interview style are so refreshing
thanks boo
Simpson Street Sessions boo whoo? ;-)
boo you
The interviewer is now like a photographer for The 1975, not very sure if she actually works with them or just goes there and takes pictures by herself but I found it hilarious bc she's always saying that they're like the best band ever and she couldn't say Matty's name properly like 2 years ago, getting more famous changes the way people see u lmao
Handsome guy. Style & game
= Great music
people who are offended and "sad" about what matty is saying about god need to calm the fuck down.
The way he said "God doesn't exist," It felt like such a John Lennon quote with the little voice and I dont mean it in a bad way just feeling nostalgia is all
I dont mind that matty doesnt believe in God. like honestly to me its just sad becasue I do and I wish everyone could have the type of closure I have with my relationship with God but it was really rude when he blatantly stated "sorry kids God doesnt exist"....
although i do appreciate his honesty
McKenzie Vanvactor amen
She's a very good interviewer.
thanks :)))
it's actually matty if we're gonna do it properly
still my favorite interview with matty lol
The questions asked by fans are great
Great Interview!
i love this
It's actually matty if we're gonna do it properly.... I'm deadddd
I agree with Matty 100%. I kind of wish I could believe as simple as some people. But once you lose faith it never comes back. But holy shit calm down about him saying "sorry god doesn't exist" because he was speaking his mind and being blunt about his thoughts.
Also
David beckham was born in 1975
Thought I was the only one. I feel Matty on a whole different level.
he's my fave
i really like this interviewer!
Umm sound not on on the one side
only when you listen on a mobile device. Sorry about that. Don't know how to fix it.
Not listening to it on mobile o.0
ThisIsErdoS awkss...

I love you matt so much like 100% but baby,God exist. He is. I hope one day you feel it. :')
Joyce Lapaz omg shut up
he is so amazing .. crazy how i love him..!
That's my Matty ♥
gosh he's perfect
so many celebrities nowadays feel the need to lie in order to get respect from fans or their fans parents. yes, matty did admit to doing drugs, and said he can't not do them and have fun at parties. yes, this may seem shocking or scandalous. but that's the amazing thing about this man. he's so honest. he writes songs such as 'me' where he lays his entire being on the line in a beautifully honest way, and that shows in his interviews. he cares what people think about him, and he's said that in interviews, but that doesn't stop him from voicing his honest opinions and experiences on/with drugs and religion. the people who aren't blinded by his drug use and views on the existence of god can truly see what an honest, intense man he is. so even if you hate drug use, believe in god, and can be sober at parties, you need to respect matty. you don't have to specifically respect all of his decisions and opinions but you need to respect him as a man because he is willing to put himself out for the world to see.
i love his shades
I lovr his accent! He is so cute my fave!
he's so cute
god damnit he's the most beautiful human on this planet
lol shutter shades still exist in australia?
unfortunately
YES MATTY YOU LEGEND.
I love that you don't believe in god. Love it. You're so... I don't know how to explain it.... but I love your whole mentality about the world. It's inspiring and totally... REAL. It's what most of us believe and you express it.
5:15 he's the man
God is real, can't believe he said that. Still support him and the 1975 just wish he was religious.
You seem a bit immature, if you ask me, getting that easily offended over his honesty. Stupid religious people like you loooove to shove their views in people's faces.
i'm not trying to be like annoying or mean, but he has his opinion and you have yours. he has every right to not believe in God just as you have every right TO believe.
God doesn't exist.
He's such a cool bad boy :P
the cutest ♥
R.i.p my left ear
it's fine for him to say "i personally do not believe in God" but i think he went a little to far telling children that God doesn't exist. I feel like people are so intimate and passionate about their faith, that they would be very turned off by Matty saying that. Also him saying that "being faithful seems so simple" it made people who are strong in their faith seem simple minded or stupid. Maybe he did not mean it like that, maybe he did. i don't know.
How about we don't get our knickers in a twist about every fucking minor thing he says?
5:20 idk why but i laughed to hard on this
What remix is she talkin about? ? ? 1:14
Can someone please send me a link?:)
James Vincent McMorrow - Cavalier (The 1975 Remix)
