Hey Guys! Thanks for your support throughout. Just want to let you know that we came back to Canada in 2021. We found a job in Toronto while we were in India and then we moved permanently. More videos on or channel. Instagram- humpty02dumpty.

Better to get passport and then leave. It will be worth it since you’ll have more options. Think of it as short term pain for long term gain. You can then work in the US on TN visa (much higher salaries and lower expenses), or in India as OCI if you prefer

    • @moviestar5883

@@Nick-do2vc I understand what you're trying to say but I'd have to stay 3 years to get passport. Even though it'll be beneficial for me as I like to travel but spending that much time away would be a tough call. Let's see what happens. I'm gonna surely live back in India though.

    Lesson to be learnt here
    1) you can't expect same level/position job no matter what you were doing in your home country. Canadian work experience matters.
    2) Take any survival jobs for time being. I have seen former bank manager work as securities and forklift operators and build a Canadian work experience.
    3) if you don't have Canadian education and Canadian work experience then you have to bet on your luck and hope itz as good as it lands you a jackpot. None of the company/organisation wants to hire an individual because he/she has PhD's from outskirt Mongolian university, point here is they don't wanna waste time validating the credentials when they have other applicants who might not have work experience but have Canadian degree or have both. Time is money in Canada.
    4) Never rent in Toronto area if you are landed immigrant, even if it was basement. Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough would have been a ideal choice.
    5) If there was no jobs coming to you, buy a bicycle and do Uber/skip the dishes. You sure can get enough money to survive for the time being.
    6) Build your network. Maybe your friends friend has a friend who might help you. Reference plays a big key when there is hiring.
    7) Never give up. "when the going gets tough, the tough get going”
    All the very best.

cannot agree more with this statement. Very true. Moving to a new country, you need to be mentally prepared for the worst. It takes time to settle. Also the chances of being hired when you are not physically in Canada are extremely rare.

Once he is able to survive, u can also move coz men would be able to do difficult job and strive for survival, which is difficult for women to do alone....

Also, the fact that IT skills are easily transferable from India and one can work from home means the job market for such professionals should always be there. Unlike other professions like Accountancy and Health sector where one needs to undertake Canadian certification, I always felt tech workers were very sort after. Maybe I was wrong. @Ashley Harver People move to places for better opportunities all the time. Specially Knowledge workers move all the time, India was on its way to improvement before the current right wing dispensation came to power. Modi is like Trump was in US except Trumps regime had the lowest unemployment rates. India's unemployment has increased a lot. New India has too much hatred for Muslims which wasnt the case when i was growing up. Which is why i suggest people to move away if they can, let the fools run the roaster. No country can ever do good when a large section of the society has almost nothing. I cant think of a single country that progressed with social disharmony.

How can you ignore that ? You're giving the rise in GDP as reason, but have you seen the recent gdp growth of india ? Are you aware about the PPP of india on a global level? I'm not saying things aren't improving here but certainly we are not in a position to surpass those countries which you have listed in your comments even in next 20 years!

Folks, I was born in Canada and I’ve lived here all my life and I can categorically state that there is no worst time to try to come to Canada than right now. Businesses have been decimated they are either bankrupt or on the way to closing there is less opportunity right now and I have ever seen. It is literally going to take years for Canada to get back on its feet again the government is in debt hundreds of billions of dollars supporting people that have lost their jobs. Unless you are a medical professional there is really no work here to be had. The energy industry out west he is on life-support Toronto is overcrowded and has a major housing shortage and the price of real estate is at an all-time high. My advice to you or anyone considering coming to Canada is to wait at least three or four years from now as things are just absolutely chaotic.

Respectfully, it looks like your expectations were not matched with reality. Job search takes time even if you are in Canada and actively looking. To assume that you would get jobs sitting in India or right after landing just because of your IT backgrounds feels rather naive. Your Indian experience does not hold the same value here and you must be prepared to take a lower paying job and title to get a break in the industry - which is also harder because of covid.
Also, what’s the point of spending all your money to go back to India just to save money? And are you planning to find a job in India just for a few months? If you want to live in Canada long term, wouldn’t it make sense to stay in Canada and keep looking? And why would any Canadian employer want to look at you if they want someone who can start right away and you are in India? Honestly feels like you guys got carried away with the idea of living abroad and jumped in without thinking things through.

A word of advice for anyone planning to move to Canada (Just FYI, I pursued my Masters in Canada, worked in Toronto, moved to States, and now back in Montreal). Things move rather slow in Canada when you compare with the States or may be even India. In States, I was able to find a job within 3 months after I got my temporary work permit, whereas in Canada I had to spend a good 6-8 months even though I had an MSc from a Canadain University, and that too with reasonable amount of past work exp. as a Software engineer in India. Usually, the hiring season in Canada is late Jan-March and then Sept-Nov. Nobody works here during Dec. and that means almost "literally no body". (at least in the tech sector). And again during summers (May-August) hiring kind of freezes because people are so passionate about using the summertime for recreational activities. So you may want to plan your arrival in Canada so it coincides with the recruitment season. (Again not sure how it would be this year given the pandemic). Also, be mentally prepared to spend 6-8 months (at least) before you land up with a decent job. If you are lucky you might get something within 3 months, but that is rather rare. While in Canada, cutting down on your expenses is definitely desirable and you could do so by living in suburbs which are far away from big cities (transit generally is good so in case you want to visit the main city for job interviews, that definitely is doable.). In my personal experience, Canada is not bad for tech jobs, not sure about other sectors. But again please don't compare Canada with States in terms of opportunities and money.
