Thanks for the very helpful video. I bought the replacement screen via the link and it came with everything attached, including the adhesive. So the job was much easier than is shown in the video. All for £19.99.
Couple of points. When you remove the little metal cover plate don't bother to unstick the connector from the back of the plate as it clicks back in exactly the same position. The flexible push in connector for the home button was a really tight fit width wise so was tricky to slot in. the tiny lift up locking clamp is not really a problem once you know it is there.
A question - is it even possible to remove the digitizer without damaging it? If I had to get inside to change a battery I would get a new digitizer as well. But for an Air 1 that might make it a write off?
PS - at 26:25 your man did not replace the small piece of tape over the connector - just saying so you know I was paying attention! LOL
Hi great video, my wifes ipad air 1 battery was only lasting a few hours so I bought a new battery & digitizer changed them now it wont stay on battery wont charge above 67% turn it on and it dies in 1 minute showing battery 1% any idea?
Hi Iain, thank you for the comment and well done for replacing those, it’s not easy. I would say either a faulty battery which can happen or possibly a power IC issue. If I were you then I would look into how to detect power IC issues and see if you can do it from outside of the iPad with an inline current reader, or possibly get another battery to try.
How the heck do I get started with breaking the glue bond? I don't want to scratch the screen, but even with heating it up, I can't seem to get under the edge to start it.
We recommend heat, but not too much as the heat softens the adhesive. We use small temperature controlled ovens or heat mats but a hair dryer would suffice.
