    I don't know who this interviewer is....but he asked Ray some tough questions about his 'future'....Ray answered the answered correctly, but this guy foreshadowed Ray's future like he already could see it. Ray should've stopped fighting after he fought Hearns (2nd time)...as he was slower and couldn't standup or avoid punches. He was dropped against Lalonde and twice by Hearns, and Lalonde was a SLLLOOWW fighter. Anyway...the guy doing this interview knows his sh...

      Like Highs article said it was the perception of victory.Flashy punches ,some blocked or low or after the bell from Leonard should not count as scoring blows!Like the front row people cheering the bolo punch which was a foul by Leoanard=low hit.RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler .

  • @icewaterslim7260

    Marvin Hagler might not always make the adjustments during a fight but his record in rematches speaks to his focus on adjustments between fights. Huge respect for Leonard whom I didn't like at first for having the audacity to adopt Robinson's moniker. He used it right though and I believe it motivated him to pull out a win in tough situations. That is the mark of a great fighter. I lost one bet of three on Ray's fights and it was the first Hearns fight. I won on the first Duran fight and the second after seeing Ray make the late rounds adjustments during first fight which he could do. Leonard took that Bolo punch from Kid Gavilan . . . A student of the art.
    I think Hagler might've had trouble with Monzon, Jones at 160 and BeHop. I wouldn't bet the proverbial farm on any of those though. Hagler had the will of a champion and it's how he got there.

  • @mercuryrising4323
    @mercuryrising4323 3 роки тому +3

    Beautiful man and fighter. Hagler was cheated by the Boxing establishment in delaying the arrival of his greatness , rewarding his rival Leonard with a dubious decision but Hagler was rewarded by the Boxing Gods with superhuman power, resilience and skill in the ring and he had such humbleness and humility outside the ring he was so respected. The Leonard decision may be in doubt but his legacy will never be in doubt. My hero, my inspiration in so many ways .RIP the greatest boxer ever not just GOAT of middleweight. I will miss you. Oh and the interviewer was absolutely right to tell Leonard to his face he lost hence the abrupt ending of the interview. Deep down Leonard knows his success depended on the 'fix' being in place and with a Mexican Judge scoring it 10-2 to Leonard was an utter disgrace.Bob Arum has also said Hagler won the fight and implied the Mexican Judge had agreed the score BEFORE he attended the fight. Hearns was also cheated when he clearly beat Leonard but it was called a draw.

    • @icewaterslim7260
      @icewaterslim7260 19 днів тому

      Leonard made the rare admission a fighter ever makes when he said Hearns won the rematch. The guy that fills seats is going to have some sway in the judging of close fights. That isn't Justice but it is the reality. It isn't the only sport in which it happens. It's the sport with the most blatant judgements. Hell Chavez vs Whittaker wasn't even close.

    @raygluv57 Duran didn't beat himself... Leonard was so superior that Duran knew he had no chance in hell of winning and would only be embarrassed worse and worse as the fight progressed.... SO HE QUIT.. In the ring... The most humiliating, disgraceful, cowardly thing a boxer can possibly do

    • @centinela24542
      @centinela24542 6 років тому

      Frazier was who really said: NO MAS (No More!) before round 15 in the Thrilla in Manila, and I didn´t see anybody doing a melodrama of it. I think Duran chose the wrong way, he should have waited to be sitting on his chair and then ask his manager to stop the fight. Nobody could have said anything if he would have made it that way.

    • @howardsmith8430
      @howardsmith8430 2 роки тому

      It's no secret that Leonard wanted a quick rematch to catch Duran off-guard. SRL knew that Duran was out indulging in food and drink while celebrating the biggest victory of his career. Leonard phoned his manager while on vacation in Hawaii and told him to set up the rematch ASAP. In the aftermath of the Montreal fight, Duran had blown up to over 200 lbs. Duran was forced by his management, which stood to gain financially from them accepting the rematch so quickly. Duran's management knew his tendencies to party hard between fights and gain significant weight, but didnt care about putting their fighter in a bad situation. Duran knew that a rematch was going to happen. He just didnt realize it would be exactly 5 months to the day of their first fight. Duran struggled to take off the weight in such a short time period, and entered the match in a weakened state, which was the game plan all along. I dont blame Leonard for trying to gain an advantage for the rematch. I blame Duran's management for accepting the fight on Leonard's terms for financial reasons and not protecting their fighter's interests.

    No not at all, your the 1 thats ignorant.
    Ray was way past hes prime when hes faced Camacho, in hes last
    fight 6 years prior to Camacho he was outclassed against Terry Norris.
    Hes last win was 8 years before the camacho fight and he was almost 40 when they fought.
    Now how the .... is that apple and oranges to compare that to Ali who aslo was way past hes best when he fought Berbick.
    The funny thing here is that you call me ignorant yet you bring up Rays fight vs Camacho to prove something

    Hauler was the champion when they fought. This was not an overwhelmingly convincing victory. Therefore the victory should have gone to the champion, certainly not the challenger. Marvin won the fight.

    • @ianjohnston9345
      @ianjohnston9345 5 років тому +1

      Poppycock! The rules the judges follow when scoring a bout say nothing about the challenger needing to 'take' the title from the champion. If they win by a point, they win by a point.

    • @ianjohnston9345
      @ianjohnston9345 5 років тому

      @JSavic This implies that boxing judges decide at the end of a fight who they thought was the winner. That's not how it works. They score round by round. At the end of the fight, the round scores are tallied. The fighter with the most points wins. End of.
