This is a great video- what a lovely, gentle dog you have! My dog is scared of my ferrets, and runs and hides whenever they come near her :/ They've never bitten her or anything, she just doesn't like them.
Beautiful dog, beautiful ferret. It's nice to know that you have trained your animals properly, and you get a bonus point for not having your dog's ears cropped :)
This has got to be one of the cutest videos ever!! That Doberman could do some damage, as so could the ferret! Ferrets can bite extremely hard!! They do not mean to do so, it's just they can't see very well, and they have natural instinct to find/kill mice..That's what they were used for yrs ago..and the Doberman, well..he's just bad ass, and could be mean if he/she wanted to..I love their friendship!
I do have one question though....is the area outside that they are in enclosed well enough so the ferret can't get out? he mustve already explored every corner of that yard to be willing to play with the dog....I mean if I know any ferret at all it would be that they would be too busy to play otherwise if they were in a new area or could access a new area...im so curious I guess because I was wondering if you had to take any special measures to enclose them as I notice he isnt leashed
kinda reminds me of my brother's rotts trying to play with my chihuahua/corgi. But my dog didn't like it very much. She's soooo sweat with humans, but with other dogs she turns into a crotchedy old lady yelling 'leave me alone you whipper snappers!" Still, it's funny to watch her chasing around two rotts who think she's funniest thing they've ever seen.
how sweet! I have 2 ferrets and 2 dogs right now and the dogs are used to the ferrets and I trust them to do the right things with them but the one dog especially doesnt want to play AT ALL with them not that it stops the ferrets from trying though but he just will always walk away from them and come to me so I can tell them to leave him alone lol, the other dog on the other hand will play if hes in the mood to but not that way like yours...more of a I chase you then you chase me game of tag lol
@rathmiron Thanks, I've tried holding them near her but she just gets up and walks away. She gives me dirty looks whenever I have them out (jealous probably lol). When their cage was in the kitchen she would lean against the cupboards opposite it while going past so she could be as far away as possible :/ She's been the same with all my past pets (rats and mice) and I think she's too old to change her ways now. At least she's not aggressive towards them :)
Mine is not allowed to play with my friends weimaraner anymore. it kept flipping her over with his nose and she decided after a few times that was enough. She bit him on the nose hard. he screamed and wouldn't go near her. he was ten times her size but scared of the little ferret. In his defense she spends all day play killing her toys and attempted to actually kill a roommates cat that snuck in my room. Grate with people but dues not play well with other animals.
ferret = secondary school kids best friend aka ME! Im lonely at school and my little brother plays on COD (7 year old -the best at it) so no prizes for guessing which amazing pets i play with: ferrets! mine are my best friends. ferrets are for life. the best pets are dogs and ferrets. we had to put our dog down and one of our ferrets, poppy died because she was the runt of the litter out of the family she came from. our dog was a black+gold doberman called prince he was gentle with ferrets too

Oooohhh, my ribs ache...what a fantastic dog...what a fantastic ferret... Humans can learn a LOT from them....
the doberman lost its reputation as being vicious, clearly ferrets have earned that title now XD
lol I love how the doberman just pushes the ferret around with his snout :)

Lmao, they're so adorable together.
But one crunch o.o... Then you'd have two halves of a whole ferret.

yeah it goes to show how animals can think and recognise family units even of different species.
Adorable. The doberman didn't stand a chance.
its amazing how animals act when there raised together.
What is it with ferrets and big dogs? mine are always going after my big black Lab. He pretty much just puts up with it.
Even doberman is powerless against the cuteness of a ferret!
too cute getting a ferret hopfully
those are cute, but thumbs up for BoV sound ^_^
Good combo cause both ferrets and dobes hate being alone:)
@Dinkyfish666 couldn't you try to gently introduce them to her? like first only the scent, and then let her see them in your hands etc

Ferrets never back down regardless of thier opponent, it's wierd.

How precious!

cute but I think the ferret is dizzy from getting pushed with the dogs nose too hard
Dobermans will play with anything, mine loves neck flesh:)
