I feel that it should be noted that a lot of the prior reliability issues seen on pre-16 BMW cars have all but disappeared with the introduction of the B58....which is now the standard 6-cylinder engine that populates most of their line up. Water pump problems, cracked charge pipes, thermostat issues, rattling wastegates, etc are a thing of the past. On its 7th year in production now, the B58 has proven rock solid.
So that means, any four cyclinder engines will experience the same problems? I.e., the 2016 328 xdrive
I’ve owned nine Audi’s and five BMW’s…..Both are incredible vehicles.
Living in Colorado’s high country, when it comes to snow (lots of it) the Audi Quattro Drive is in a class of its own. I’ve always used A/S tires and have never had a problem on either the mountain roads or the interstate highway (I-70)
The BMW’s awd handling in snow is comparable to a Jeep….not bad but not great either….my confidence is much higher in the Audi….heck, during a raging blizzard, I’ll slow down to the posted speed limit…
Couldn’t agree more, I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and I’ve had several 4wd vehicles! Audi is by far the most dangerous, it makes you way too confident . They are amazing in the snow, I grab the Audi over any of the trucks I own.
I would still buy my self a Audi no matter what love the Audis.
Thanks
Between BMW and Audi it used to be basically even, for the last 10 or so years, it's Audi and not even close
Thanks for sharing
Audis are trash lol You must love hanging out at the dealership
Audi is comfort+sport all in one! 😍😍😍😍🔥🚀👍
indeed
I’m on my 3rd BMW. Never had any problems with any of them. I’ve had my current BMW for 7 years now & never had any leaks/problems. What’s with all the hater BMW talk out there? Am I just lucky with my BMW’s?
My wife and I have had 5 911’s, 2 Audi A4’s, Mercedes CLS and 3 C43’s, and 17 BMW’s (pretty much every one made). All are exceptional, BMW is the best by far for us.
congrats on the money
@@GoZito75 😂😂
Audis are not rebadged VWs, they share a platform along with other VAG cars. There isn’t an equivalent A5, A6 or A8 in the VW range
Right!
those actually share the same platform as lamborghini urus, porsche cayenne, bentley bentayga and others
I have an SQ5. I brought my car in for regular service and had a Q5 loaner. The cars in the same platform but the steering dynamics were completely different. The Q5 actually had a tighter steering wheel and the wheel was more responsive but the SQ5 had better suspension. The actual tune has a lot to do with how a car is going to perform. Porsche also shares the same engines and platforms however a Porsche Macan feels very different than a Q5.
I would only own an Audi or BMW during the new car warranty period. After the warranty expires, sell, sell, sell!!!
Cheerz
No problem, I will happily buy it and enjoy it. Manufacturers would go out business if cars only lasted 3-4 years.
Mite as well just lease it.
@Michigan Man Leasing is not wise, the best time to buy is after a refresh because they want to sell the old model to make room for the new. You have more leverage to get a better deal.
@@Simon-xh4hr Yea but when you lease in a few years you can get right into the brand new model, and just keep repeating that cycle. That way your always in the latest year, plus you don't have to worry bout maintanance.
Any BMW 2016+ with the B58 is the one to buy.
Yes
My household has been through 8 Bimmers since 2001. Not a single incident of the cars leaving us stranded or an engine failure. The Audis I have had were all leases but performed very well also. I would vouch for either brand, but the driving feel on a BImmer really is a class of it's own.
The Audi is a beautiful car, more in line with a luxury car, while BMW seems to hold the sporting edge. Aside from the expected high maintenance, questionable long term reliability, it seems that the bottom line for the average buyer is to 'refresh' the model via a trade-in once the warranties expire. Our 2019 VW Passat was still in warranty when we traded it in but still just an oil change and you are potential host to dealer maintenance sell ups which besmirch the brand.
But that broad, heavy front grill takes away from the car
BMW for me.. while xDrive is not as good as Quattro, I like the styling and driving dynamics of BMWs more. With the B58 and N52, reliability is better than most Audis too
BMW i7 or Audi A8 I consider a Luxury car . Just looking for a ride that handles and is smooth. All M and S series sports cars.
I’ve owned five BMW’s, I am happy with the cars and just as importantly, the local BMW dealer and my salesman (for 15 years).
Ditto
You’re happy because you trade them in every 3 years before they have a chance to crap the bed.
nice
guys if you’re complaining about the cost of maintenance, you clearly cant afford one. stick to honda.
Nice
Owning a BMW nearly gave me a nervous breakdown, the more money I threw at it the more things would go wrong . BMW “Lively and fun to drive” No!…downright dangerous in the wet. Audi for me every time.
Thanks for sharing
Great breakdown Mark both models have their merits. Quality, performance and reliability hold my attention. Thought here, is it possible to breakdown any Porsche? ❤ 🇨🇦
You betbPoraxhenis certainly worth talking about
I'm too slow to adapt to new exterior designs - it takes me at least several years. Hence, I don't like looking at the new BMWs as much as at the 2000-2017 period. Audis are more elegant (for my two cents) - and play it safer. Yes. But my Q5 is a little nose-heavy due to where the engine and transmission is placed. BMWs always have an excellent F/R balance. But I'd be glad to own either of the brands...even after the warranty expires 🫣
You are spot on with the reliability. A lot of sensor glitches on my 2021 S5 sport back. And the MMI is all over the place. I have to do a hard reset every now and again. Maybe one day they will actually have an update that fixes things. Looks wise I disagree. It’s subjective but there is currently no car that BMW makes that looks better than the s5 sport back. I was cross shopping for a m340i which I feel is the best looking car BMW makes currently without the ugly beaver tooth grills. But the sport back is a head turner.
I'm an Audi dude, I'm not a complete purist as I do love BMW. Everything he listed is why I love both of these brands. I'll never forget smoking an M3 in my S4, I was pretty impressed with the car but couldn't get over how good the M3 looked. Full disclosure: My shit isn't stock, tunability is a bit better on your wallet with an Audi, but not too much worse with a Bimmer. This is definitely a fair assessment, and if you disagree, you probably haven't had enough time with either vehicle.
For look and feel of the interior - I would go with that Volvo in the middle :) IMHO it feels more luxurious than A or B. Exterior - no comments :)
If I had to choose outside of BMW and Audi, I'll pick Acura because you're driving a luxury version Honda. Reliability is the issue on German luxury cars.
I have an Acura MDX and an Audi S4. The Acura visited the repair shop way more than my Audi for transmission issues... I also use to own an A4 that had no issues but had a 2001 Accord that died at 160k miles
@@jko249damn Honda must hate you, 160k is nothing for a honda 😂
@good-tn9sr I did buy both of them used so maybe the previous owners abused them and I had to suffer for it lol
@@jko249 that may be a reason, especially if the models you had were CVT, a lot of people dont do cvt transmission fluid replacements, which is a way to destroy your car. at least u didn’t have a Nissan 😂
Compact Audis share platforms with Volkswagen but the A6, A7 & A8? At sometime I remember compact Mercs sharing components with Renaults & nobody shared that information.
Cheers
You make good videos but this one has its issues.
You compared an A6 to a 4 series which is essentially BMW’s version of the A5, this exterior comparison isn’t really fair because both cars serve a different design purpose.
Also the interiors, you compared the new gen audi interior to the last gen BMW interior, again this isn’t a fair comparison and also the model difference makes a massive difference on the interior. The A5 has an interior more in line with the 4 series.
No hate just want make it clear the slight imbalances In this comparison.
With all the gremlins that BMW have, WHY BUY ONE OF THOSE MONEY WASTERS
BMW lost their way many years ago. Audi for the win.
Cheers
In what sense. BMW has always marketed themselves as "the drivers car".....and as has already been stated, when compared to Audi, it's just that. Seems pretty true to form, to me?
@@alfrede.neuman8611 I just prefer a more analog driving experience. Hydraulic steering, road feel as opposed to isolation, and no piped in synthetic engine noise. I think the e46 was the pinnacle of the 3 series run, that will be hard to beat. And although subjective, don't even get me started on the styling that started to go down hill with the Bangle era and has reached an all time low as of late.
Decades of Quattro perfection and wagon design is why I’m switching from my m2 to an audi, but I think my bmw might always be my favorite
Couldn't agree more!
Both are great in thier own way. Audi AWD Quattro RS cars and RWD BMW M cars.
Agreed
Your trippin balls you’ll be buying Audi regardless all parts are the same the VW group share all there parts so your just buying a badge and Porsche foshooooo enjoy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@chriswiththecrocs OK bro.
There is certainly one thing common to these vehicles.....Options. In the future probably microtransactions as Mercedes have started trying too charge a yearly fee for accelerating quicker.😂
Absolutely that is ludicrous. The new EVs will be a gouge fiesta. I am done with that.
@@ECPP 👍
Love your videos, but I wouldn't buy either one, I might be inclined to lease one for a few years and give it back
Thank you. Yes that is the safer way to enjoy the fun and avoid the hassle
Audi is a better value and lasts longer. I've had more issues with BMWs than any other brand. Audi was pretty bad 15-20 years ago but since then has been pretty good AND they offer a 4 year warranty.
my mom was burned by an X3's heated seats overloading and was given money to forget about it, this was many years ago. My father-in-law had to have the transmission on his X1 replaced at 20,000km which was luckily under warranty. I could go on as my dad sells used cars and every BMW he gets is a legitimate question of whether fixing it is worth it. I have an Audi E-Tron now that is pretty solid.
BMW with B58 motor or the S58 for the true M cars can not be beat
Maybe compared to a BMW, but in general Audi is one of the most unreliable brands out there. Love their minimalistic exterior, it ages very well and even a 20 yo audi looks fresh and interesting...though their interiors are pretty...VolksWagen-ish, bland and boring for the money you pay.
I driven Audi and BMW (rented a 2022 BMW 4 Series convertible in Los Angeles last week). For preference, I'll choose a BMW over an Audi for the sense of RWD over the AWD Quattro.
It’s a better driver for sure
Hmmmm that Volvo looks good🙂
Audi
Nice
Audi was made premium in the 90s, it's mostly premium for the VW clients ;) glorified VW is not much of a comparison to BMW or Mercedes. And besides some diesel engines, they really suck at engines and had a lot of issues (including total engine failures). Vorsprung durch Technik is mostly a joke.
If you like to drive and drive sporty, get a BMW. If you like comfort and the premium feeling (but only starting with the E Klasse), get a Mercedes. If you want nice interiors, extremely high prices and high service rates (at least in Europe), get the 4 rings.
Great summary
Which one has the most reliablity?
Put an Audi R8 next to a BMW ///M8 Competition on a drag strip.
True we know the outcome, however which brings the whole package.
So far i kinda like my Audi’s. Don’t plan to keep mine for a long time tho
I like Audi
Bmw is the most fun to drive amongst other brands no matter what the horse power, engine size, model year is but in its rivals, you’ll have to spend a fortune and buy the sporty top of the line trims to get the same sort of driving pleasure.
Audis are Soo boring, I traded my x6m for an 2015 s3 with stage 2 that was pushing 400hp it was not an exciting car at all, got rid of it 5 months later for a 435 and haven't looked back and it's alot more of a fun car with less HP lol
cheers
BMW ,
Without a doubt..👍
Thanks
I worked for Audi and they're not any more reliable than a BMW, plus they have more of a older person look not like BMW
BMW
Audi better 💯
thanks
BMW's are cheap, take a look at their standard plastic parts; starter coils & coolant hoses (I'm sure they'll be more). 🙄
Acura and Lexus make the best luxurious brands, ever.
Keep lying to yourself
@@duffydon1741 Acura and Lexus may not be able to match the luxury level of germans, but they are quite good as compared to a regular Honda or Toyota, the main difference is long term reliability, maintenance and repair costs, which Germans respectively suck at!
I know one guy who has a S4 and his ECU went out and 2K down the drain!
Yikes. And that sounds like a good deal
It’s not true- all Bmw I had service package here in Australia & cost me under 200 dollars per service - much cheaper than Audi that was around 700 dollars
That’s fair
Firstly I would compare an S6 with a 6 series. A 4series with an A4
BMW (I feel Audi stagnated and has become too popular to really do anything exciting)
BMW 4 life
thanks
Bmw
Lexus
Toyota
Honda
Acura
Mazda
Maybe Subaru...
The rest is a gamble on your wallet
Fair. The key is finding a fun car that’s also reliable
Give me the audi....
thanks
Audi all the way!
🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Gonna make me nauseous with the camera movements
Audi , apart from being a glorified vw , to me looks like an upturned bathtub
One hundred percent
Are you kidding me??? No effin way. Bmw rules.
Thanks
Endless Money Pit..hehehe
Haha, for sure
They make new cars now rubbish push you into buying a ev that would cost twice as much to repair
2023 Bmw X1, is the most reliable. I think.
thanks
@@ECPP bmw x1 and x2 are build in Germany so they are more reliable than the rest of bmw models that are build in North America, am I right? You’re the expert my friend, not me. Love your channel :-).

Right?
I own a bmw and I’m an Apple fanboy.

Nowadays, BMW
Thanks again. Some love them indeed
There is no comparison of Bmw with Audi , come on …,,

Audis are on the top ten brand list for most repair issues per 300 cars made. BMW all the way as long as you get a 2016 or later

Audi’s are glorified VW’s.
Yes mostly
So what are Porsches? Super glorified VW?
I would never buy an Audi or BMW. I would rather buy a Porsche. Porsche is more reliable and better built IMO.
It's Porsche is a Audi....both owned by Volkswagen....
@@jamesblack8111 Yes I am aware of that.
I'm not crazy about Porsche either, they might be fast, but they won't last without spending a fortune in the shop
@@Vincent-ke5zn sad, yet true. That is why I own a Toyota.
@@markkrispin6944 very good idea, that will probably be my next vehicle. I have a Ford Focus with a 5 speed manual transmission and it has 274k miles on it
I use to talk smack shit about bmw as I drive an Audi but i got drive a bmw and I was like shit wtf so much fun but I choose awd saved my life twice and I get the over steering but u have to measure and know ur cars Length bc I be sliding in corners so fucking smooth I'm more confident in the Audi handled but bmw got dang throttle
I would rather buy Mercedes’ no one out does the interior and they have new model lines. BMW has some nice exterior updates I.e new face however it seems to be overcompensating like hey look at me big grill ( which I love ) but reminds me of an insecure look of that makes sense. Audi’s new grill seems relatively boring and both BMW and Audi’s interior has always been very basic and bland doesn’t feel luxury. Lastly Mercedes always comes out with great new grills. I’m not sure how they outdo the 2019-2022 style grills seems like that should be a longer lasting face line
