i'm tahitian and i saw you in tahiti in july 2007 and i still and always be impressed by your talents. keep on and thanks for what you're doing with our culture
@aotearoamami ......The singer is Mevina Liufau of Nonosina based in Anaheim, California....you may check their website to see if they have this CD available....Mauruuru roa, Kumu Lorie, Kawailehua
Absolutely beautiful! Mauruuru roa for sharing it :) It's just too bad you're located in California. I'm looking for a new group to dance for and like the energy your dancers give off. Mahalo again for sharing.
@28kawai28 when I am meant to. Mahalo for your kokua! Hopefully the next time I am in California, I am able to catch one of your shows and meet you and your halau. Mauruuru again :)
It was an honor to see someone (other than my halau) who really loved our version....as a kumu, my job was done...and yes, you girls did a great job...I couldn't stop smiling when I was watching your video...keep up the good job = ) Auntie Lorie
@maohivahine ....I know that it can be pretty hard finding a halau that fits you as a person....believe me, I'm far from laid-back...I'm blessed with students who love the culture & know/understand their responsibility as my haumana. Although I don't have the Hawaiian blood running through my veins, for my kumu I still have the responsibility of perpetuating the cutlure as she had taught me....I hope you find a halau..there are a lot of halaus out there in oahu that I have mad respect for
AINT GON LIE YALL NEED TO COME TO UTAH AN TEACH THESE DANCE GROUPS OUT HERE TO DANCE GRACEFULLY LIKE THAT!! LOL!! HEHE.. NAW JOKES JOKES!! BUT NICE DANCE LADIES!! :)
goodness, we were so inspired by this song and dance! I'm so sorry we didn't ask permission to use your choreography first, but I just wanted you to know that we both loved your version of the dance and I hope we did it justice. =)
i heard theres three versions to dancing songs like thesse. i believe this is the slowest, nd thers a faster version of this song, what are they called?
@maohivahine ...mauruuru roa for the kind words....I am blessed with my "kids"....where are you located at? I may know a few groups in your area.... Kumu Lorie = )
@28kawai28 Aita pe'ape'a :) It's nice to see dancers really enjoying themselves! You're very luck to have them, and they you! I'm currently in Honolulu, close to Waikiki. There are a bunch of halau and a few dance troupe near here, but none that I feel comfortable joining. I prefer dancing for someone who is laid-back with dancers that are as well. I don't like walking into a studio and feeling like I need to dance for my life >_

@28kawai28 E kala mai, I meant a halau that is humble :) I want to dance for a Kumu who is teaching because he/she loves the culture and dancing, and he/she is not in it for fame or the glory of competition. Been there, done that. It isn't my "cup of tea". There are a lot of well respected Kumu who do not have Hawaiian blood. It's a person's heart that matters most. Yes, there are a lot of halau with my respect as well, but their practice schedule is hard for me to do. I know I'll find a halau
@LA23leira ....I had choreographed this song as an ahuroa - tahitian hula with a long dress on....I believe others may have choreographed it as an aparima - faster tahitian hula with a long or short pareo (sarong) & bra
i'm tahitian and i saw you in tahiti in july 2007 and i still and always be impressed by your talents. keep on and thanks for what you're doing with our culture
