    Good point Woj made, the raptors should trade for him as a one year rental to make a run while they have Kawhi. If they lose, then they can trade AD again and flip him into young players. That way when kawhi leaves they get a big jump on a rebuild. Unlikely, but a potential great move they can make.

      He's definitely going to LA or Boston, most likely Boston. Just an interesting take. Maybe the bucks too. Trade Brogdon, maker, DiVincenzo, and a ton of picks. It wouldn't be a good fit given how good Lopez fits their system and it's too far into the season to re-amp the offense. But if you're the raptors and can trade and essentially upgrade ibaka for Davis, that wins the east.

      That's because whenever the mainstream media talks about AD, it's when HE has injuries. But his injuries are always short term and he bounces back. The problem is that literally no one else on the roster could stay healthy. The Pelicans lost the second most games due to injury after the Sixers. And the Sixers were losing and keeping guys out ON PURPOSE!

      Arsenal are alright, but they are no more hampered by injuries than anyone else. Maybe even less so than Manchester United. The biggest problem has been bad tactical decisions and playing far overrated players. A bit like Manchester United more recently 🤣

  • @DingisMaximus
    @DingisMaximus 5 років тому +81

    Even when it happened everyone thought the Pelicans were dumb for not resigning Rondo and Cousins. Everyone knows Cousin is not a freak athlete that would heavily rely on his Achilles and that is proving to be true right now. Rondo is a championship caliber point guard who himself has some ridiculous feats even against the Heat and Lebron in Lebron's prime. You can't even measure that worth yet they let him go. That is why Davis is gone. People forget that when Cousins and Rondo were playing GSW were having an extremely difficult time handling them even with KD and the Pelican defense was absolutely perfect in their match-ups against GSW. So to me of all things that was one of the greatest screw ups of all time.

    • @MasterGameHawk
      @MasterGameHawk 5 років тому +2

      yeah, thats what i was thinking as well. I think from AD's perspective was that this season looked Cousins that came back from his tore achilles (his not playing like he used too but all the other GSW assets compliment him well), and losing Rondo was also bad, at this point AD must be frustrated. And yes, that twin tower combo was for sure gonna beat GSW last year mainly because of length and as you say match-ups. The other problem that no one is talking about is the death of Tom Benson who was owner of the Pelicans until March of last year, after the wife (Gayle) took over it seems they were making bad decisions mainly losing Cousins and Rondo and didnt do much to attract players, somehow they got Randle but just cuz Lakers wanted to open cap space for LeBron, and started grabbing "trash" players like Payton, Fraizer and Clark to somehow make up for it. Gayle also said this..."I really like Anthony, but if he wants to leave, you can’t hold him back.” NO at this point would rather trade AD to the Lakers rather than sitting him out and wait, the fans in NO want to see Davis play and I think it will hurt them for the rest of the season. The playoff bracket is starting to take shape, it could well happen that if the trade is done with Lakers, they will go on a run and get that 7th or 8th seed, LeBron is gonna play it out so they dont end up playing against GSW in the first round and rather play against Denver instead. Now that im looking deeper into this, i think Pelicans is just a farm player franchise like Orlando Magic, sadly.

      That's exactly when it went down the hill for them. Don't even think they consulted Danis when they did those moves. Basically telling their best player that they are gonna kick back into a rebuilding phase of sorts when they let proven players walk. Lousy franchise.

    The Pelicans are owned by the same ownership as the Saints, and are under the same leadership. If you do the research, you'll find out that the Pelicans' training and medical staff are all just people they moved from the Saints, who have no understanding of the way basketball affects the players differently than football, and how that actually affected the injury history of that franchise. Different teams have different injury personnel, and good teams try to do preventative measures to avoid injury. Orlando and Grant Hill is a good example of this as well.
    Sometimes injuries are luck, sometimes they're just from incompetence. The Pelicans, due to the leadership's focus being primarily on the football side, suffers from incompetence more than luck, which is why so many of their moves seem weird even without hindsight.

      I also don’t agree that New Orleans did not screw that much. How about managerial dysfunction? They had no (still don’t) medical team as mentioned above, no analytic team, lackluster scouting and development team. And the most of all, the owner doesn’t care. The benson family bought the team out of the loyalty to the city. They couldn’t care less about basketball.

Pelicans paid holiday, davis is on a contract and if cousins doesn’t get hurt they probably had plans to resign him. Im sure they would have rather give the kings hill to make the money work but who the fuck wants hill at 12 mil a year. If cousins doesn’t get hurt and they resign him and rondo, and have Mirotic off the bench im sure they would look a lot different, randle is a good player and works his ass off but nowhere on the same level as cousins

    I think the loss of Al-Farouq Aminu is an underrated one. What they are lacking right now (and have been lacking for 2-3 seasons) is a good 2-way starting SF. Aminu has grown to be a great defender and and adequate shooter. Besides he's always been a relatively good rebounder. If he was resigned, the Pelicans could've started with a lineup of:
    Holiday - Gordon - Asik - Aminu - Davis
    which isn't necessarily great in the offensive sense because Asik was basically a rebounder but I dare to predict that the wouldn't have ranked 22th on defense. Besides they would've had a good 2nd unit with Tyreke, Pondexter, Anderson, Norris Cole etc...

One thing they're definitely off the hook for: bringing in bigs. AD really didn't want to play as center.

    since you are talking about how the league has adapted to small ball, I want to say that it was not a good idea to trade for cousin with hield, not just because he torn his achilles. Heild would have been the perfect player as he was compared to a steph curry at draft combine, even if he doesn't become close to steph curry's level, his shooting ability could have given AD the spacing he needs, while Cousin takes away space in the paint. The other mistake they made recently was not signing Rondo. I'm pretty sure if they were more respectable to Rondo and offer a 10 million or even a 9 million one year deal Rondo would have taken the deal as he signed with 9 million with the Lakers. Also, AD saw how this team is going to collapse when FA like Mirotic, Randle, and Payton look for bigger contracts elsewhere; so it seems like a good idea to leave this organization before it falls into the lottery for the next couple years.

    One thing to note, I noticed your recording has a fair amount of "plosives" in it, you should edit down the dynamic clipping with DAW software or get a more traditional pop filter screen instead of the large foam one you are using. You can get one of these on amazon or a prsey a local guitar store for less than 20$ or DIY one.
    In that it's kind of a shame since you have a 500$ Shure Smb mic and you're having plosive issues with your audio. Hope this helps 😁

    • @TheNamesDitto

      Though later I DIY'ed one with pantyhose and wire hanger, an easy alternative. Though I decided to fork out the cash later on as I got more serious about recording and just bought one when I upgraded everything lol.

    I have three things to say about this situation
    Whoever has the best assets to trade, will more than likely land AD(Lakers).
    Or the Pelicans front office can do him like how the Spurs did Kawhi and trade him to somewhere he doesn’t really want to go.
    Or do him Like Butler, Trade him to the opposite conference, kinda be stupid to strengthen LA when you are in the same conference as them.

    Here's what went wrong: Media pundits continued to claim that Anthony Davis was a superstar (almost as if they had orders to do so) long after he'd proven he wasn't, so people didn't question it. They don't know how to think for themselves, so without the media spoon feeding them the talking points, none of it registered. The fact that this guy couldn't lead a team with 2 other 20 ppg scorers (the ONLY team in the league besides GS to have such a luxury) to even being a playoff contender didn't set off any alarms in the minds of most casual fans.
    The reality is that every TRUE superstar helps their team. At the very least they get them to the playoffs. More often than not they turn them into contenders; certainly with the kind of help Davis has had this season. Anthony Davis has NEVER helped his team. They're not contenders. They're not a playoff team. Hell, they're not even contenders for the 8th seed!
    He's the shining example of why numbers actually DO lie. The second coming of Minnesota era Kevin Love. Huge stat lines. Great PER. Fooled a bunch of idiots into thinking he was top 5 in the league. BUT, had precisely ZERO impact on the game.
    I still think he could be a very good second option, but he is not, has never been, and NEVER will be a first option for a legitimate contender. He's like a power forward version of Carmelo Anthony. Let's hope he knows his role when he goes to LA. Playing second fiddle to a true superstar. Otherwise he's gone.
