This is one of the best FD responses I have seen in a long time. Crews came off trucks ready to work, quick stretch of hand line to begin exposure protection, followed by using the truck's deck gun to further put out/protect the exposed building. Why do so many departments show up to a fire not ready to go on air, and take so long to get water flowing? Great job Boston FD!!!!
Awesome job. They connected to a main and had the exposure extinguished and protected quickly. An example of a well trained and thinking department. Kudos especially to the apparatus operator for getting the deck gun into play so quickly.
%90 of the time I'm checking out videos involving my native FDNY but this was a good vid showing the Boston Fire Dept. That got water on the fire very shortly after showing up and two ladders up. Props from NYC to BFD!
Oh no prob at all!! Its just, 40 years ago, was born and brought home to one of these houses. Not sure if it was my building or not. My Dad said we didnt have arched door ways, but I took a trip through mapquest, and couldnt find a house similar to his description. Still sad either way, but great job on the Boston boys!! Thanks.
Truck 56 seems to be the most actual/effective one of the States in 2012. Never saw this before on youtube in the States. We have trucks with waterguns since decades in Europe. Even the Russians do have this efficient otion mounted upon most trucks. What model is it?
Deck gun on the exposure is totally the way to go. Ought have put some fire into the primary affected fire apartment. But, he may have been concerned about inside guys getting hurt. Looked like he had plenty of flow, and then went to turn up the engine speed on the pump. Later, the flow is a bit agressive, might damage the exposure building. I'd have left the engine speed where it was.
I notice that he only briefly hit the exposed building, and the rest of the time they were content to bounce it off the corner of the brick building. The backwash did the job just fine without bringing direct pressure on the wooden exposure.
Yep, good job by the engineer. I would've liked to have seen him hit the fire apt. for about 20-30 seconds to knock down some fire (coordinated with the entry team of course), that way he could've saved them some work and a lot of heat. But good job none the less.
I don't know sir...I'm in the midwest I was just saying it was good to hear someon say that fire fighters did I good job. I went to Boston Unvi. for a semester and I don;t know Eastie at all
im from nyc i think fdny are truly the best but these boys in bean town are doing things to, the guy with the deck gun is doing a hellva job god bless the fdny and bfd....
If all fiemen were as agressive and compitant as the young man setting up the snorkle, property destroyed by fire would be cut in half. At least in half. That person should be destineed to make Chief!!!
Finally! A department not scared to use the deck gun! BFD had water on this fire in less than 30 seconds. Amazing job brothers!

Big fire requires big water, glad to see the deck gun used ASAP!!
Typical Boston. Beautiful first due truck placement, awesome engine position (leaving the front wide open for the truck) and an aggressive attack

Great job protecting that exposure.
Firefighters worked very quickly to get water on the fire. In less than one minute, they had a booster line going. Good work guys.
Solid work on that deck gun with a nice hustle, great job Boston FD!! Stay safe out there!!
Good job by the chief having the engine move up for deck gun use.
way to get the aerial ladder set up and the deck gun goin asap. props to bfd from cleveland fire dept
Great use of the deck gun to get control over the exposure. I feel like people always forget about the deck gun, should be used more often.
Hey Irish, are their ANY house, similar to this, on that street without Arches above door entrance??
No doubt, pump operator helped knock it down.. Nice.
Just my old cell phone. Droid 2. Not the best camera, but it did good in a pinch.

Play of the game goes to the pump operator with the master stream. Hats off on that one as well as the work done by the BFD.
Amazing work by the Engineer on E56!
Now that fellow fire bastards is how to put out a fire.
Props to the EO for awesome placement .

That damn tree blocking the master stream...
Always great to see how other departments operate.
Who else is reminded of the beginnin fire of Backdraft from this??

Thank you :-)
Just as the actual fighting was getting started...it stopped...LOL. DANG IT! Great vid otherwise.
Great Video Take
I've watched a lot of fire videos. I wish all fire departments were like this one.
Just one guy working fast and well the deck gun guy. It would be good all the others to work with the same speed
Bitch be brick...Some wall paper and drywall and scrub. good as new!

im from nyc i think fdny are truly the best but these boys in bean town are doing things to, the guy with the deck gun is doing a hellva job god bless the fdny and bfd....
