I just returned to pipe smoking, after a 35 year break, when one of my son's gifted me a new bent apple rosewood color briar pipe. It was like the pipes my own Dad had and used over 50 years ago. I enjoy it, but it tends to smoke hot with mild tobacco. This could easily be my "newcomer," technique. However, like you, I purchased a Savinelli Roma Rusticated 606 KS filtered pipe last week. So far, I'm smoking it cooler, most likely due to the balsa filter. Also, I've noticed the filter blocks the small pieces of tobacco that were coming in the first draws of my non-filtered pipe; that's a plus. I'm pretty sure this Savinelli will become a favorite of mine. Also, my current favorite tobacco is Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening. It is a smooth, mild blend, with a pleasant smell for those around.
Welcome back! 35yrs was quite the break. I have not yet tried piping with the filters. I usually pull them out if the pipes are pre-loaded with them. Currently only smoke one bowl a day, so saving the filters in case I increase that lol. I have limited access to a LOT of the stuff you guys enjoy over there, but making a list for my next visit back to the states and will be loading a suitcase with tobak for sure. Guess I have to put C&D Autumn Evening on the list now 😉Happy Piping!

Hello Joseph! Yes, it is a popular one. Think all the 673's are the same pipe just with different finishes and stems. Matches860 coined the "Friday Savinelli" which is the 673 Lucite as you may or may not know. Thank you for watching.

Beautiful pipe! That thing you were asking about is a filter. I think most brand new Savenelli pipes come with them. Enjoy!
