It’s an honor just to see him .....that’s how great James Cagney is .....what a talented giant ...one of the greatest entertainers of out time .......God Bless him ..
Jimmy once said that his career as an actor gave him the money and freedom to pursue his real love which was gardening & driving his tractor around his 5 acre farm.
He loved his horses and was very successful in breeding them. I loved the way that he lived in a country where, at that time, people with talent, drive and a great work ethic could achieve success.
I wonder if Arlene Francis' remark to Cagney at 6:18-6:31 was what resulted in her being cast to play his wife in Billy Wilder's hilarious cold war satire "One, Two, Three" the next year?
That New York strut gets me every time! RIP James Cagney!

He almost stumped them because of the simple fact Cagney's range as an actor was incredible.
There was never any one in Hollywood like him ever again R.I.P. Jimmy for you are sadly missed by all of your fans.
A REDTAIL missed is spot on
I wrote him a letter in 1980 and he wrote me back, including a signed 8x10 photo.
How cool!!
I wish I had written to him in the 80s. I was so in love.
The man was Haleys Comet...One in a Billion talent...LOVED AND MISSED!!!!
one of the best actors ever ! top 5 for sure
I love when this stuff seemingly buried forever comes to the surface for all of us to see. Cagney is one of my all time favorites.
bocconom James Cagney
The best of All Time.

The absolute best of all time nobody like him since just marvelous in every way!!!!!
He may only have been "a whisker" over five foot tall, but in every other way this man was a real giant..
Yes he was.
Incredible man, incredible talent!
Still had that tough, Lower East Side walk about him. Great stuff.
Icon of all time James Cagney gone but never forgotten🍃💙🍃
It’s amazing how Arlene played James’s wife in One, Two, Three in 1961… this was shot in 1960 meaning Arlene was filming with him right now’
Although the picture was completed, Mr. Cagney did not get along well with Horst Bucholz.
Eh, no. Filmed Jun-Sep 1961. I guess the filming was as hectic as the film. 😂
Incredible physical ability in an actor.
Though Mr. Cagney was not born on the 4th of July, he shares a birthday with me.
Fascinating to see them agonise over identifying the great James Cagney. They were so 'cold' until right at the end.
Loved him in Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Imagine a "star" of his renown doing a show like this today...
Right! This show attracted a lot of top talent to be the mystery guest. Different day and age.
I think Bennett knew early on who it was, but wanted to give the great James Cagney as much t.v. time as possible
Sheer class. Ps thank you so much for uploading this.
He would star with Arlene Francis in a hilarious movie called “1,2,3” which is a great movie well worth seeking out.
He gave himself away at 5:05 when he reverted to his lower east side Manhattan accent
I wonder if Arlene Francis' remark to Cagney at 6:18-6:31 was what resulted in her being cast to play his wife in Billy Wilder's hilarious cold war satire "One, Two, Three" the next year?
One of the true Hollywood greats....better than Bogart, Tracy or Gable!!!
not better then Bogart , nobody was better then Bogart , the fact that you brought up Bogart when talking about Cagney is evidence.
Broadcast May 15, 1960.
Genius
Daly was a great host.
He's hot!
