With a variety of sparring partners, especially with weaker players more eager to play you than stronger ones, I have also taken the habit of including specific drills in uneven matchups, playing into their strength or reducing mine, like practicing a new serve. A club mate had a good tip though: take a handicap. That way you can still play your best game and don't get into the habit of playing a weaker game on purpose. Also, you're more likely to have set point against you and so you learn dealing with that pressure. I thought that's really a good one.
Another good video, Seth. Thank you. I especially liked tip # 2, "Keep a drill book". After watching the video I created a Google Docs spreadsheet related to my practice sessions. I do something similar for golf. The basic idea is "if you learn something then make a record of it so you do not need to re-learn anything."
yes haha I find myself going over and over! I had a golf book as well :) that was actually my first book i kept, I watched Karl Vilips and his dad because they explained the game in a way I have never heard before and thats how I came up with my idea to make youtube videos about table tennis :)
great video again! a comment: can you do some video on game tactics? there are very few (if any) content about tactics on UA-cam, but this kind of thing is very useful. thanks.
Thank you! I wouldn’t consider myself an expert on tactics mainly because I know mine but each player has a set of different tactics that they use regularly that flows directly into their individual strengths as a player. I can put together what I know tho!
Hi Seth, I really liked this video. It was simple, to the point and very effective. All the tips are really good but for me in particular, I liked the one about practicing or exploiting your partner's strength and also the one about dinner tasting better after a win. I use both of these tips every time I practiced so I can relate. On a related note, the video of the two shirtless TT players was awesome and very funny. 😂. Thanks for all you do to help us!
Hi Seth! You are a blessing to the table tennis community. Your videos really break down everything well and the way you approach your videos is perfect. I had a request that I've been meaning to ask. I was wondering if you could go through your entire workout routine for table tennis, and how each exercise benefits your game in some way. I know you've touched on this in the past with leg workouts and stretching, but It would be amazing to see a comprehensive guide to the stretching and leg workouts you do to achieve the physique you strive for in TT. Thanks!
Great video series Seth! I would like to see a comprehensive guide to the stretching and leg workouts you do/recommend as one of the viewers commented as well. Lately, I'm afraid of any potential injury in the 30s-40s if I only play semi-professional level TT without any proper stretching before and after, so would appreciate a video from you! Thanks.
That’s a good thought I’m not a pro stretcher by any means, I am extremely careful about the shoes I buy as they have either helped my legs stay healthy or made them go bad very quickly, I try to bike and swim as forms of exercise to improve my heart strength as running is tough on them. I always carry a roller to roll out my legs before I play because that gets the blood moving to the legs even before you start jogging around.
Seth your videos are blessing for a player like me who is irregular with practice . It is your pointers like short stroke making , footwork etc. which make me win matches despite lack of practice 🤭.
Seth, thank you. Would be a very helpful video (unless you already have one) is how to practice with a robot. Different and specific drills, with a set plan for a week/month or some kind of structure ( just a thought). I have a robot at home, but unfortunately don't have well rounded structure of drills in my practice. Thank you
Seth, would love a video on how to best train w a robot. obviously, training w/ a robot has big + (it's predictability) and big -.(it's predictability) . But i can see it can be really useful to us intermediates to help hone strokes, footwork, and other stuff.
Hey yeah I’m going to make a video on that topic here soon!! I love training on robots and have seen great jumps in my level from them I’ll go over things to practice and how to use the robot to the best of you advantage!
Hi, yes you can upload a private video to UA-cam and then share the viewing link with me through Facebook or Instagram my Instagram is Sethdan and my Facebook is Seth Pech
Очень интересно. У меня долгое время была проблема психологически играть если мне вешают сопли (край стола или после касания сетки), напарника попросил перестать извинятся на тренировках и турнирах если играем между собой. Это помогло, даже при игре с другими соперниками.
@@PechPongTT the things that come back (stay ranked high in my list) are best practices that only indirectly improve my game, because not following them does not immediately result in loss of points. It is also important to really trust that list. Similar to trust in a coach.
It's a great pack of tips, thanks for that! What I can add and what I use myself: even if you are training with a much weaker partner than you, you can always find drills that you can benefit from and learn. E.g. if you play with someone who has problems with your attacks you can try to play topspins very precisely, at exact spot, additionally with the same rotation for some series of shots. It will let your opponent to learn quickly how to block and you still will be working on your consistency.
I was hoping you could make a video about equipment. What you use and what you recommend for different levels of players. (0-1000, 1000-1500, 1500-1800, 1800-2200 etc)
That tip of "playing to your opponents strengths" is fantastic! I'm 99% sure some higher level club members have done that with me, without me noticing it! It lets them practice, and it makes playing for the lower-level player a lot of fun (certainly more fun than getting stomped by strong serves & 3rd ball attacks)! I hope to reach a level where I can do that with other people. And as always, fantastic video!
Recently mentioned your brother's ( Keith Pech) great form on the forehand block and the person asked, "Oh, is he Pechpong 's brother?". So, now Keith Pech is to be known in DFW as the PechPong guy's brother .Priceless!
Hey Seth, I would be interested in getting your feedback on my games if possible. Is that something that you're offering still? Appreciate your videos. 🙂

I’ve actually been keeping a journal for after matches and practices. It’s really been helping cement what I’ve learned in my mind. Instead of casually observing, it becomes intentional learning.
After watching this video I learnt so much, thanks Seth, you are doing great.
Hey thank you I’m glad it’s helping you, I will continue making them 👍👍

Hello Seth! What does keeping your racket high after serving do? Does it give you more reaction time for the return?
Hi! It lets you move in over the table seamlessly if they drop short.
Great videos!!!
Thanks, good video.

I keep a top 10 list of things to practice on, and from that memorize a top 4 list at the star of a game.
That’s great! You have a good system there! Do you also find yourself having to work on the same things every few months? haha

Do you still review recordings to suggest improvemnts? Online coaching
I have not done online coaching for some time, I may start it up again though
I am interested in having video of me analyzed at some point. Do you have a patreon or something like that?
