Lyrics:
I’ve lived my life in fits and spurts
Maybe I’ve had more than I deserve
I’m sure I cannot feel much worse
I kept your letter I read your words
I tried to give you love and truth
But you’re acid tongued, serpent toothed
I tried to share the map with you
But you know your way
You had your route
I’ll find god in the hands of truth
Left my heart with a man in those eastern woods
He is people shy but his words are good
And I hope that he won't fade away
I should write to him tomorrow
I wrote that yesterday
Home this is not a home any more
You just threw your pieces
They washed up on my shore
I have not lived any other way
It is my right to wander
I might choose to stay
I’ll find god in the strangest place
I saw the sign for the old highway
You did cross my mind but it didn’t change
I do hope that we meet again someday
Hope we meet again
I hope you never change
I hope we meet again
Hope you never change
I have no words. The way you switch from talking to singing in such a nonchalant manner gives this song a sense of nostalgia like you're mourning a love you once had but also confronting the person aboit their actions.
"I’ve lived my life in fits and spurts
Maybe I’ve had more than I deserve"
"Home this is not a home anymore"
Love and relate to these lines, love this song !
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard ♥️
me too
Same.
Might be the best song on the album.
I love how I never understand Laura's lyrics at first and have to listen again
This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard
The outro is a pared down VIBE!!
This song has a soul
This is seriously good. Stopped me in my tracks👍🏼
Te amo
I must listen to this 10 times a day ❤️
This beautiful song was used at the end of the play 'Mary Stuart'. So glad it has now been made available as a studio recording.

"I fucking hope not.": Sandor Clegane
would you want to never change? pass.
What a backhanded sentiment masquerading as sincerity: "You did cross my mind, but it didn't change; I do hope we meet again someday". "Oh, how I *do* hope we meet again" 🙄 More and more, the music that I've loved and that has sustained me, from David Bowie to Laura Marling, I realize mostly just revolves around the same old human pettiness on repeat. See, I used to hear something genuine here. I've seen Laura in concert twice, and, despite being an atheist and a skeptic, both times I thought I'd seen an angel. Now, this and so much that I've ever loved just sounds disingenuous. Like, how when I realized that Bob Dylan was an idiot child, and half of his "deepest" lyrics amount to little else than convoluted ways of telling his critics "you're gay". Watch Bob Dylan and John Lennon together: what embarrassments. Worse than losing faith in people I believe I've lost faith in music.
