    Instead of putting lose ice in your cooler freeze water in plastic drink bottles.
    When it melts you have another source of water and the food doesn't get water logged.
    You really need another jerry for water.
    Occasionally they split or leak. You don't want to end up with no water if you've only got one.

    Great vid thanks 😸 I'm doing a running battle setup I go out & just chuck stuff in my ute, learning wats best for my sort of camps\trips (minimal space, trying to leave truck able to carry 5 ppl😸) and evolving as I go - essentially totes, roof usage and tent - thats what I got from your vid, something I've already begun to find revealing itself 🤠so am now keeping watch for tough totes that aren't price ripped. Thanks again from Southland New Zealand 👌

    I loved the parallel between the 2 yr old filling his dump truck and Dad filling his bins. Great compact kitchen. As a family of 4 (& a dog) with kids quickly getting bigger than parents, compacting gear is an ongoing task for sure. I agree, the type of trip, destination, journey, & who we camp with depends on what we take. We flew & camped last year which was a great exercise in taking only the necessary.
    I could have brought less kitchen gear but happy with having a Chuck box kitchen with flip down counter - a fast counter is key - and one that drawers do not pull out over top of & that sits beside cooler/ fridge.
    When camping with friends nearby still enjoying towing 10’ cargo trailer and having 5 lb propanes & propane fire/ double burner.
    But on road trip utilize roof box & one burner (dual propane/butane) stove.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  11 місяців тому

      Yes! Flying and camping would be a test of packing only necessities! We just got back from an 8 day family camp trip and it's nice to make a list of things to add and things to get rid of. Always refining.

    I picked up some colored duct tape at a dollar store and put a different color strip on the end of each tote so I would know at a glance what was in each tote: green is kitchen, blue is tarps & stakes, red is emergency supplies & tools, etc.

I dont like eating drinking from plastic but sounds like it works well for you. Happy camping. :)

      If you look in the comments I responded to someone else, but it looks like it’s $180 now… prices have increased. The upgrades ended up being about $20-40 I can’t remember. Replaced all four leg joints with better ones from IRonMan 4x4.
      No issues with the tent on the roof, I actually wrap it in a tarp though! Just as extra protection and then I use the tarp as an extra ground tarp for the tent.

    Wondering what kind of roof rack you got on there. I’m also assuming those are factory crossbars as well. How much weight have you been able to store on top with this setup?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  3 роки тому +5

      Great question. It’s a Rola Votex basket with the extension welded in to make it longer. It’s mounted to the stock rails (i have a video showing how). The basket itself is 70lb hard to say on gear weight but the Gazelle tent, and then the totes probably adds up to about 125lb or so (some totes aren’t full, also mostly pillows and stuff). So we’ll say 200 in this setup? The OEM is rated for 300lb dynamic, but I still didn’t like having that weight up there if I didn’t have to.

  • @Coppersaguaro

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  2 роки тому

      The Gazelle tent has continued to work great. For my small family the ability to set up quick to have shelter has been very valuable. As well as being able to stand up and have lots of space vs a RTT (non-snow use). In the winter or solo camping I sleep inside the vehicle as it’s easier for me. But I’m happy with my purchase of the tent still! $275 seemed crazy when I bought it but prices have definitely changed.

      The TRD PRO grill? It’s possible it already has the cut out for the front TSS sensor, if not then you’ll need to trim it away. Uphill also need to do some additional trimming near the hood latch area on the upper grill replacement piece too as it won’t quite fit our 2020+ models. Recommend you have a Dremel (rotary tool) or something so you can get custom with it! It’s not hard, but if you have no experience with this sort of thing take your time. Everything I trimmed is hidden by the upper engine cover so it basically doesn’t matter. I haven’t seen it since.

      Good luck! It should be pretty clear what needs some trimming when you go to fit it on. Hardest part is getting the old upper grill off. There’s some videos on that. Not hard, but I hate prying plastic pieces haha. At least the vehicles are pretty new so the plastic isn’t brittle.
