In high school I VIVIDLY remember there being a few guys and girls that REFUSED to be black even though they were. One dude by the name of John was very dark-skinned, which didn't matter to us because we know we come in all shades brown. I remember posting a status on social media one day,.. showing pride in my blk heritage and i was called racist by a dominican woman i was dating at the time when she saw the status,..saying that i was coming off racist because i was being so pro blk, that's how she took it.. lol. And i knew right then lol... how warped unfortunately many dominican people minds are, conditioned to *DEVALUE* anything blk/African related when compared to White/Eurocentric background..
Taking pride in my blackness could come off as "offensive" to someone white she said.. interesting lol..

What many dominicans don't understand is that the issue blk Americans have is NOT that you all say you arent blk as in blk american. WE KNOW THAT.. You are unique. The same as Blk American is unique... So is, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Brazilian, Dominican etc.. different cultures/countries. We get that...
Where we DO HAVE A PROBLEM is that the treatment of ppl of primarily European descendant seem to not only get treated better in all the countries I named above as examples, but going so far as to many people finding SHAME to even acknowledge the *AFRICAN ANCESTRY* within your DNA, *RIGHT ALONGSIDE THE SPANIARD/EUROPEAN* in your DNA as well...

Why are you all so proud of the language (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) and DNA from the culture that technically invaded the country you're from years ago and will openly admit you have European DNA (mind you the Europeans colonized your lands and forced themselves upon you and their languages (The Dutch, Portuguese, English, French, Spaniards, etc..) but the African ancestry in your DNA that IS NOT responsible for such colonization, and a beautiful history as well, you are less adamant to talk about?????

DEF TRUE I’m a black man from Panama raised in the states and like 50 to 70% of black women here won’t date black men. They say “para negra estoy yo or hay que mejorar la rasa “ they are brain washed by their own families. We do have some that are proud of their blackness but it seems most are not. You see some beautiful black women with big Afros but when a black man looks at or approaches them they look away or say something racist against their own race. I feel love is color blind and everyone can choose who they want but it’s crazy when they feel a man in their race is just inferior, SMFH BECAUSE EVEN MY OWN DAUGHTER SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN BRAIN WASHED BY HER MOM THOUGH I ALWAYS TOLD HER TO BE PROUD OF WHO AND WHAT SHE IS.
