- Was a nice day in Colonial Williamsburg VA when some irrational lady called 911 over my adult toy. Flashlight cops showed up complaining. Then the real cops showed up and actually drove my RC car, take that Karen!
It's nice to see a young American man enjoying his hobby, packing heat and polite yet stern with the police.
A true American each of us should strive to be like.

I really think it's a mental disability. The average person may see something questionable. Let's say somebody flying a drone 1500 feet up and miles away. Or a 700 mph 1/4 rc car ripping down the street.....wouldn't that be awesome. Any way. The average person without mental issue would think wow thats risky if they crash and hurt some one they are going to get in trouble...they take anouther drink of coffee and go on about their day. But there are those few who just can't cope with the idea of allowing another human to be responsible for themselves, or any thing out of the ordinary. It's threatening their existance.

Lol, I grew up in the town where he mentions that he bought it, Newport News. It's about 30 minutes from where he is in Williamsburg.
No one would call the police on him in Newport News, but it doesn't really surprise me that people in Williamsburg would call. People in Newport News are more concerned about, you know, actual crime. Like murder, and armed robberies.
Williamsburg is a wealthier area, and people are more easily annoyed by harmless things that are none of their business, like a dude driving an RC car in a field.

@@yannickvaz694 in most states it is illegal to REQUIRE someone to provide their ID unless there is reasonable suspicion that they have committed a crime. It is okay to ask for it voluntarily though. And the terrible police jargon doesn't make the implicit biased phrasing any less sus.

I got into RC cars when I was a kid back in the mid 80's. I still have them actually. They were a LOT of fun!! I had a Team Associated RC10 that I could gear up and hit over 60mph.
The new ones are unbelievable My friend has a lipo with little minni computer with fan and lcd screen inside it will do over 100MPH and jump over 50FT no prob he jumps drainage ditch's

The officer was fantastic. He "answered" the call, didn't freak out about the person carrying a legal firearm and also took the opportunity to do a little community policing and informed the guy about his rights with the RC car. Well done officer. Former LEO here and this reminds !e of the good days of policing.

May I ask what receiver and transmitter you use. I was thinking of making a rock crawler, thinking of an air unit for HD feed and fr sky for control maybe Crossfire or Spectrum. There are a lot of transmitters out there hard to determine which one will give me the most range at ground level. I tried a fabuta 10ja from a old race drone the range at ground level was limited.

Doesn't go on a power trip or push the issue when being told "no". The only thing I have issue with is the request for ID - but since he didn't push that either he gets a pass. Not sure if his department is trying to force some illegal BS about the right to get someone's ID, but he understands a contact stop doesn't give him the right, but rather just the opportunity to ask without any obligation. I love it. The only thing wrong with Officer Burns is his weight, but if we could clone him 1,000x the world would be a better place.

i had 2 Aussie cops approach me when a karren was complaining about me flying a race drone around a private owned area i had permission to fly that was in the middle of town.
after showing the cops my gear and giving them ride alongs with spare fpv goggles i had them both come to my house and taught them both how to build and fly drones, now i have 2 great cop friends and never had a complaint again.

That cop was super chill about the whole thing. Love how he basically told you how to work around the city ordinances and still be able to play and have fun. Just in case anyone didn't know, rc cars aren't considered "motor vehicles", so if anyone tries to shut you down for running one in an area that's off limits to motor vehicles, you actually arent breaking any laws.

@@ethan3049 Some cities have specific ordinances for nitro rc. Some places have even passed laws banning them inside city limits or in public areas due to the noise. They're a little harder to find places to run without being bothered. Check city ordinances before running them.

@@ethan3049 From a cost and maintinence perspective, I switched to Electrics. Nitromethane by the gallon is so hard to get ahold of and has gotten so expensive.
My specific area doesn't have a ordinance specific to nitro powered RCs, but there is a noise curfew. And I'd wager the car would break the thresholds after curfew. Plus, electrics are as fast, if not faster, than nitro now. Though I will admit I miss the sound..
He definitely warmed up to them, but at first he was taking his name and info (audio muted) with the reasoning that the uploader "used the F word".
After he spoke with the Karen is when he realized what they're dealing with. Then he became friendly. It could have went either way sadly.
I've been in the RC hobby for years and I've never encountered a Karen. I've even taken one to a dog park and had a pack of dogs chase it around. Every dog owner loves it because I tire their dogs out for them🤣 I even go one step further and let people have a try

i had an encounter on a public beach,usually its getting used from dog owners for a walk and same as you,all of them love my rc car and how their dogs chase them.But one time right at the entrance,a woman yelled at me that there is a 80 kg dog on the beach,like it gonna destroy my car.I just answered"If he can run 80 kph,i would be impressed" ,she just walked off angry(sidenote,its a beach where dogs have to be leashed because of the animals around like birds and their nests)

I wouldn’t know. I live in Arizona. We’re an open carry state so cops assume that your packing. I’ve found that even you’re respectful towards them, they won’t always do the same for you. A lot of them will but I’ve had a few that saw part of my holster and made me disarm until I was free to go. They also patted me down which isn’t really legal unless you’re being detained.
Trust me, not everyone gets that treatment in the 7 Cities AKA the 757!!!!! Trust me!!!!!

Some people have nothing better to do than stop others from having fun. Most people are curious and you really engage with the public. It was nice to see the officer be very professional and respectful. Very happy to see that the open carry was a non issue. My neighbors rip their RC cars up and down the block and the kids and even adults love it. I've ripped my Traxxas Stampede 4x4 across my yard and jumped the street to land in the neighbors yard, then I upload a 20% tune and let the kids have fun while we BBQ! Some people are just party poopers! Keep doing what you love!

China will be able to steam roll America in another 2 generations. There's a really interesting interview with an ex KGB operative that explains how America has made itself weak by having SJW's and political parties create in-fighting to the point where America is no longer united. This was one of Russia's goals during the Cold War, but China has done a much better job and will be in a position to strike if they are able to take Japan (which is another story in itself, but they're close to this as well with the shipping embargoes). Had a similar reaction to my dual line stunt Kite. I Was in a public park when some guy walked up and asked if I could leave because my kite flying was distracting their kids playing baseball 200 yards away. I said this is my stress relief and when done I would leave. He started up again and I cut him off and said "first I don't like kids, second if they're distracted it's your problem not mind, third your adding to my stress and you understand what that means right?". We need to make a federal law that states if you call on a non life threatening call or a call that isn’t disturbing the peace because you have a personal hell against whatever it is being done. That person should be ticketed and citied for emotional imbalance

Many moons ago, a younger me was enjoying my Losi micro crawler behind a local church, some Karen called the cops. A state trooper showed up. He spent half an hour shooting the breeze and driving my rig. He was super worried about breaking something til I literally kicked it down the hillside. We were good buddies till he moved. Shout out to Trooper Copedge! Still the coolest name for a cop ive ever seen, and one of the coolest cops ive ever met.
Great to see this hobby still so alive. I‘m updating my Kyosho Optima and Ultima to brushless, and attempting to reassemble my old Tamiya Frog and Ghopper. Amazing how many parts are still available, even for these old kits. Cops in this were pretty cool, Karens will be Karens…. Would‘ve been cool to have the cop clock it.
Cop was chill about it all and even tried it out, that's cool.

And ended up with a sheriff and state patrol officer test flying my bugs 3
I kinda wish the local cops would stop and ask about the plane that i fly at the park (ft freighter) with any luck they would be drawn into the hobby and I'd have more people to fly with

Tbh I love the way how things was handled and the cop saying where is it a law that RCs can't go over 30mph??? That was priceless! Overall mad respect to the officer! And that RC is pretty cool too.

This had nothing to do with the RC car being an issue, the Karen just used it as an excuse as ultimately she wanted the police to do something about his firearm that he had holstered. Of course it being legal amounted to nothing but some conversations and a cool little RC car.

My little brother and his friends had these in the 80’s. They dug a trail with bumps and hills in the back portion of our land. They’d stay out their for hours! Had loads of fun and stayed out of trouble.
