As someone who just doesn't like the sound of barre chords, I typically end up voicing my B-'s as a B-7 (omit 5), whether at the 7th fret or taking those same notes and making 2nd fret B the root. Besides having a more pleasant interval structure, it is also a significantly more comfortable and ergonomic shape, which allows me to be more nimble with fast chord changes.

Avoid gripping the neck of the guitar with your thumb wrapped around - try and place it halfway, for more reach. Also, try press on the fretboard with the tips of your fingers, not the soft part.
In addition (even though it doesn't sound nice) try the spider walk. If you do it properly, and regularly, you'll see improvement

Actual tip that isn’t just “practice”. Lay your index finger across right behind the fret don’t lay it directly in-between frets like you do with everything else. Also press down harder and make sure the meat of your closest finger bone to your hand is pressing the three higher strings.
avoiding bar chords is a bad idea. Eventually you have to learn them.
Barre chords are great. Solo singer-songwriter or just playing in a really small ensemble? They fill up loads of space. However, learning the triads that make them and the voice leading around those brings everything to the next level. It can make more sense to learn the chords first, then deconstruct.
Ikr I just tell da noobs that it's like playing with a capo but not actually using a capo (ofc that isn't true, but to some degree it usually convinces them)
And once you've learned them you'll find yourself ditching them for more sophisticated and/or flexible voicings 😊
@@Broc_Obamathat is actually 100% true all a capo does is bring the nut higher up the neck your finger is doing the exact same thing!
Voicings like the xx9777 one he shows are a good stepping stone. Barring across just the three treble strings is something most beginners can do and it will get you used to barring before you move on to A-string-rooted barres and eventually E-rooted chords...btw the major for that chord form is B: xx9877 (even easier to start, you barre just 2 strings).

@@c3ramicsI've been really advanced on the guitar since a young age, but I grew up in the middle of nowhere so there were no other musicians in my town. So I had to teach my friends from the ground up, and I can confirm that tough love is the way to make musicians improve😂
I remember cutting my finger on the G string mid a perform (they were alredy old and a bit sharp) and knowing how to make the chords without a bar was extremely useful to keep the show going.

B minor barre wasn't as tough for me to nail as F Major. Makes it even nicer, and arguably simpler, if you play it as a min7.

That's a tough one. You could try changing the way you do your "A shape". Instead of middle, ring, and pinky in descending order, tuck your middle finger behind the ring to switch those fingers (ring, middle, pinky). I'm pretty sure Classical guitar has a wider neck to make it more feasible as well.
I use my pinky to barre the 3 notes. Only way to play B major without fucking up your wrist imo.

a quick way to tell if someone's Canadian is to ask them to say words like "bar" or "car", then it should be clear. (I hope I'm correct, this is just from what Ive observed)

Yeah... i should have study music theory. It took me 15 years to figure that out. It took another 3 to figure out each one of those "same" chords are variations. You can write an entire song out of those varying strucures. Then you can figure out how to completely change the phrase by moving one finger, or adding open strings. Oh and 10 dollars says you're 25

F chord is easy with bar but while holding Fm the G-string gets muted Idk why. Same issues?

Well the only barre chord I have a problem with is the B, not the B minor.
I personally think B major chord is definitely harder than B minor, as well as F chord.
If you memorize the CAGED shapes and their roots you can easily find Bm or any other chord all over the neck.
im a minor musician myself.....you gotta stop ignoring the bar chords and put them into more practice cus eventually you will need them
Y'all who can't do bar chords yet, don't give up on bar chords and it'll come to you eventually, as long as you practice the form of the bar chords (F, B, etc.)

To practice barre chords I'd switch between the one I was practicing and all the chords in that scale one at a time.
For instance, if I was practicing an F Major barre chord:
F-Bb-F-C-F-Dm-F-Am-F-Gm-F-E⁰
