If Getsy had been a head coach, he would of been another Nagy! Nagy sucks as the OC in KC.
I didn't see him make any adjustments in that Week 18 loss to the Packers. Green Bay's 28th ranked defense stayed in man coverage all day, and we had no answers.
It's too bad Getsy had to go, though; because he seemed to have a strong rapport with the QB.
The Bears really need some leadership; and they can't wait/hope for some 21-year old (or 25-year old) to be their savior.
@@midwestkrazy83turner50 Eberflus should get that pass particularly It's his first time as head coach. Everybody was trying it out for the first time except Luke Getsy. Eberflus thought he was getting one thing and got another. Probably got fooled by Aaron Rodgers' success and attributed too much to Getsy.
@@midwestkrazy83turner50 the defense improved to a top 5 defense. The offense was one of the best in the league on scripted plays at the start of games in the second half of the season. However after that Getsy was horrible at game time adjustments. He was never a playcaller in Green Bay and did not do a good job of it in Chicago.

Bears passed on mahomes and Deshaun Watson. They didn't get a chance to draft Josh Allen as buffalo traded up to draft Allen.

I think they kept Eberflus because team morale and confidence in him remained strong throughout all the losses. We can’t say the same for Nagy, Tressman, Guiron in their last season coaching the Bears.

I thought that too until the finale. The players gave up before halftime and Flus’s post game barely addressed the game. If they can’t beat the Packers they’re not going to win any playoff games. Seemed like his fighting spirit showed up several weeks into the season and was gone as soon as he knew his job was safe.

It never ceases to amaze me the incompetence of Bear's management and I'm a Bears fan. The Bear's are now looking for an OC, a QB coach, a wide receivers coach and a running back coach that will all work for a head coach with only one season left on his contract. What decent OC or QB coach is going to want to be with a team not knowing if they will be looking for a job after only 1 season? LOL! The Bears should have fired Eberflus in my opinion or given him an extension. My vote is/was to fire him.

Campbell won 9 his year 2 and was the hottest team in the NFC going into the 2nd half of the season. They didn't lay an egg against a Joe Barry led-Green Bay defense.
As a Bears fan, people gotta realize that the Packers dominated the entire division the Vikes had flashes here and there, no more than the bears have had, this is Detroit real showing in 30 years, since the Restructured NFC (2002) the Packers have 12 Titles, Vikes (5) Bears (4) and Detroit (1). It’s been the Packers Division since the Restructuring but having 2 HOF Top 15 OAT QBs helps with that
Simply put. The Packers are the only team in the division with great QB play consistently through the years.

Keeping Eberflus and firing Getsy means Fields will stay. They will use their #1 pick to build the offense around Fields. I’m very happy with the decision. They don’t need to be starting over with a new head coach.
--Eberflus is liked and respected by the players and they’ve played hard throughout the challenges. He certainly is not displaying burned out vibes as were Nagy and other prior coaches when their firing was a foregone conclusion.
- Eberflus’ coaching of the defense was impressive. Now he’ll find offensive coaching that knows how to use Fields strengths and develop the pass receiving.
The Bears will be terrible for the next 20 years, building around a QB who got 2 wins, 3 wins then last year 5 wins out of 17 can't beat GB in 3 years gets crowned as the franchise QB
To me it points to the opposite direction. Sounds like they will reset the offense with new OC new QB. Makes no sense to have fields learn a 3rd offense in 4 years when they have to figure out if they are going to pay the kid.

I think it's the opposite, they liked what eber did once they improved the offense. The OC is gone which means so is fields. You get a new OC to work with your new QB while your HC solidifies the defense. Sounds like a solid plan imo. Why would they bring in yet another OC to work with fields just scrap the whole offensive pair. Imo this solidifies fields being out
And so this makes the draft questions a lot easier to interpret. Don't see them drafting a new quarterback for Eberflus to break in again

Matt Eberflus has not shown the ability to develop a talented quarterback. If he can't get Justin to hit his ceiling,I have no faith he can do the same with any of these other young talents.

I think whoever they hire for the OC job will really be telling on their plans for fields. Justin has shown flashes and I love his attitude. But you’re going to have to build around him and hire a coordinator that is more willing to run stuff that works for Justin. I think Caleb will be able to run more stuff

The main trade for the first is to the Patriots to still be able to get Harrison. Then get an offensive lineman with the 9th pick. The 32nd pick they get from the Patriots can be used on the defensive end along with other picks. Harrison is a must to pair with Moore.
Eberflus is great on defense but the Bears need a great creative OC.
The o line was a siv on Sunday!!
If it doesnt work out next year then ship justin and fluse off together. O line should be priority. Wont matter what qb comes to town if that O line is not top notch.
WE WANT FIELDS and I think we will keep him. He just needs the weapons we can get him now through the draft. Receiver and an O-liner for my taste. This will pay off for the Play-offs. We are already 7-10 with the guys we have now including the horrible coaching.

Lions won 9 games in Campbells second season and were on cusp of playoffs and knocked GB out of the playoffs. Chicago played decent down stretch for sure nothing close to Detroit situation. Dan Campbell 100x better than Eberflus

Anyone comparing the bears to the lions is a moron. The bears beat ONE, yes ONE team with a winning record in 2 seasons. The lions knocked off multiple playoff teams and won 5 division games in a row in 2022, including knocking odd Green Bay to end the year. It’s not even close

If Jordan Love would have had D.J. Moore it wouldn't have been that close. He played with second stringers the entire game. Poles didn't draft Fields and is not committed to him. With five quarterbacks available in the first round it's time to cut the cord with Fields.
Jordan Love also had guys schemed wide open and was pressured on only 10% of his drop backs. Fields was immediately pressured 80% of his.

I think keeping Fields and Eberflus is the right call. I think everyone's gonna look at the Texans and try and replicate having a rookie HC and a rookie QB but the Texans are an outlier. I think Caleb is special but I think the Bears would be stuck in the same place with him and a new HC rather than keeping the HC/QB duo the same, trading down, acquring moe assets, and rounding out the team on both sides of the ball. Not to mention finding a new OC cause Getsy was trash.

This is just so Bears! Flus did a decent job on defense, but I don’t think he will ever take the Bears to the Super Bowl.
-I think a proper goal for the Bears should be to have coaching that consistently produces more wins than losses each year like Steelers coach Mike Tomlin who’s been coaching for 17 years. I’d rather see that than a team like the 1985 Bears who the super-bowl but then flamed out and fired their coach (Ditka) 2 years later.
-The problem with Nagy, Tressman, Guiron was that they had a winning season after settling in but then went down hill into losing seasons. This is why I don’t understand why they fired Lovey Smith after he was 10 and 6. Steeler ownership would say keep a coach who has a winning season and build on that. Don’t start over.
I think Eberflus is building something. Let’s expect/ demand a winning season next year.
Ditka wasn't fired until the 90's, that team still consistently made the playoffs after '85

Flus came on like gang-busters at the end of the season. I don't know if they keep Fields or not, but I would take the best QB who is consistent and can read a defense quickly. The new standard is QBs who can process quickly, get the ball out accurately, and keep the offense moving quickly. Imagine what the Bears look like if they traded Fields and drafted Stroud.
Chris Simms said CJ Stroud was the best QB of his class. Except the Trevor Lawrence class, he's been pretty spot on QB. I would seriously look at Jayden Daniels if I was the Bears. He looks like he can read defenses like Burrow, but with Fields arm and Mahomes accuracy.
Stroud would be awful under Bears leadership. We have one of the worst O-Lines for the past three seasons. Couple that with Getsy as an OC and we would be calling Stroud mediocre.
@@FreeFromHer QBs that can read defenses do well most places. Do you really think the Bears would ruin all QBs? CJ has already shown he can get it done under sub-optimal conditions. Say what you want about Getsy, but tape showed Fields didn't see multiple open receivers early on. Some guys were wide open by 10 yards! Who's fault is that? Getsy may not be perfect, but you can't blame him for not hitting the OPEN receivers. Even the sports cast crews of the games wondered what Justin has been looking at.
When a GOOD front office evaluates head coaches, they're supposed to talk to several coaching candidates and get to know their views on how they will improve the offense / defense, and then decide! You know, like how you are supposed to judge QBs by taking your time to talk to several QB candidates, get to know them, see if their skills set is a good fit, and then decide! What the INCOMPETENT Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles did was talk only to their current head coach and then make up their minds in 1 day. Why Ryan and Kevin don't know this basic concept on how to hire a good head coach demonstrates Bears front office INCOMPETENCE! #MathDon'tLie

Houston isn't a well run organisation, but they hit the nail on the head with Demeco Ryans as HC. His persona and presence screams a natural born leader with credentials, and that can't do anything but help give Stroud and his team mates confidence.

Best coaching options in a decade + best QB class options in a decade and the bears about to pass on both. The bears live in mediocracy. Big market team that is run like a small market one. They could have had CJ stroud and said nope we good with Fields.

It looks good. Bears should've swept the Lions this year and simply don't have the OL or DL from GB right now. They have high draft picks and 80ish mil to play with this summer.. If im the Lions or Packers im actually sweating about what the Bears will be next season

The finale against the Packers said it all. Flus is going to continue our streak of mediocrity. I don’t know if anything short of landing Harbaugh could save the franchise. McCaskeys really did kill the Bears.
A good organization would hire a proven winner like Harbaugh, a losing organization tries to save money by sticking with a 1st time HC with a losing record. Bears will remain bottom of the barrel. Nothing changes at Halas Hall, its always the bottom line. Talk about "winning championships" while putting an inferior product on the field year after year.
Can still see them taking a QB to hit a reset on new QB on rook deal and new OC and buy themselves some time not live and die by more Fields disappointment.

I said this all year long to my friends. I like JF1 but if it means keeping coaches including Eberflus I rather let him go. I'm tired of them firing coaches after letting them draft a QB the year before. We always kn the same dam conversation of they didn't draft this guy with each new coach they get. Get Jim Harbaugh and let him draft a QB and start fresh!!!
