I have used the crash bar bags on the front frames of my Royal Enfield Himalayan. They are unbelievably good value for money and well made / tough. They kept everything dry and I used some Lomo ultra lightweight dry bags inside simply to make unpacking quicker - not for any waterproofing issues. Your review is spot on and anyone considering buying these will not be disappointed if they do purchase them.

Excellent review. I thoroughly endorse everything you stated about these - I'm using a single Lomo pannier (medium size) mounted on a TEC pannier frame on my Street Scrambler. I used the "cross strap" under the pillion rack to further secure it. I imagine I may also use the other as a tail bag, as you suggest.

Got the same. They are beautifully made and look superb. I really like all of Lomo stuff. The guys there are also brilliant. I think they could do with additional plastic hoops to help pull the bags tight to the bike/rack. Their roll bags have these sown in hoops and are extremely good, super strong and no chance of ripping.

Just received a pair and they feel really well made. Many of the other makes are just charging stupid money so these are perfect for what I expect the be a wet Scottish tour next year! Nice review.

Glad you liked these Tony. I have had a set of the panier dry bags for about a year and found them to be light, easy to use, 100% waterproof even in the most awful weather and the best value for money throw overs I have ever bought! Will probably replace my leaking Oxford tail pack with one of their 15l tail packs soon.

Great video Tony. I've been using the Lomo rucksack for my daily commute for the last five years. It's still as good as new, still as waterproof and with the odd wipe clean with soapy water still performs brilliantly. These look like a good add on to my luggage range.

I'm running with the Nelson Rigg on my R1200GSA and LOVE them especially with the insert that maintains their structure somewhat. I love the inserts that come with the NR bags as I can keep all my clothes and toiletries in one and simply grab it, pull it out and walk off to a shower, creek or river to wash up. I'll be using the NR insert in these if I get a pair. I DO want a pair of these though and would like to have the option of cinching them in when empty. Great review guy!

Me too Ron yes they are a fiddle initially but after using them it’s second nature to load and unload just use a cheap liner to remove your packed gear without taking off the Lomo bags. After seeing the cost of other bags it’s also a no brainier. Oh I’ve got nothing to do with Lomo except for using their bags when I kayaked.

As if today (feb 17th 2022) they have their large panniers back in stock. I've been using their products for 2 years now and went as far as Norway and Italy with them. I have two of their medium panniers permanently mounted to my crash bars. I've also used their crash bar bags (but upgraded them to a medium size). They even act as airbags when dropping the bike offroad. They can take a hit, although I haven't "tested" them during a slide and I'm not intended to do so. I've sold my TUSK aluminium panniers for these. Lightweight = better and these do not make you go bankrupt.
The ONLY downside I can come up with is that IF they puncture, it's not waterproof anymore, though easily repaired because it's PVC. Expensive brands use nylon panniers with dry bags inside to protect it from abrasion and punctures. But they are 3-4 times more expensive.
Great product, Lomo! I ordered an additional large pair and top roll bag for this year's season. I'm a fan.

I think they’re fantastic and everyone says they do not leak. The only downside as you said was that they don’t have a quick release system. In some areas, it wouldn’t be safe to leave them on the bike because they can be cut open. Are Lomo planning to make a quick release system?

In the same ballpark but made in USA are the Nelson Rigg panniers. I bought a set recently and they took a whole four days to arrive from east coast USA to New Zealand which is super impressive from Revzilla. I have used them in anger on a 180km off road ride and they performed flawlessly. They come with their own internal bags.

I've got one of their medium Adventure Panniers which I use regularly on my Street Scrambler, as well as various dry bags and I've never had a problem of leakage.
If I've one gripe about the medium, and it would apply equally to the large it's that the two horizontal straps that are used to hold it on are also compression straps so if I empty the bag whilst on the bike it's now loosely held on, which means it flops about while trying to repack and needs readjusting depending on the load.
I'd love to see a slightly revised version where the two jobs, fastening and compression are separated.
Oh and being a Street Scrambler owner, I wish they sold them individually. Now does anyone want to go half shares on a set of the large?

    • @AlexOnABoat
      @AlexOnABoat 2 роки тому +1

Replying to myself, but weird but...
I've since replaced the plastic buckles attached to the front of the bag with aluminium G-Hooks picked up from Etsy and it makes a vast improvement to the way the function, no more threading fiddly straps through and tightening, I simply loosen them a fraction and unhook. For a few pounds extra it's well worth it.
Now I just have to persuade Lomo to sell them individually.

Forget the crash guard bags. I bought a set and on the first down on of the plastic fastener broke. This made the bag garbage because LOMO uses the same strap as to compress the bag and to attach the bag. what a pain! If you cinch down the attachment strap, you necessarily have to tighten the compression strap, compressing all the contents. Wanna get something out, you have to loosen the compression strap and then the whole bag flops off the crashbars because its the same strap.
The way the plastic fastener is fixed to the bag makes it very hard to replace the plastic fitting and revive the bag. Its a badly thought out design and for front crash bars is not a good solution
