Hi Renata, in 1977 I was working at the Canadian High Comm in Singapore. We drove to Penang for CNY, no expressways, no bridges, not many cars. Stayed at Rasa Sayang resort on Batu Ferringi. It was one of the few hotels there. We took the old funicular up Penang Hill. No waits, very few people. Those were the days.
Wow, before it was on the tourist map. Cool story and thanks for sharing. Are you stationed anywhere now? Retired? Back in Canada? Any suggestions of hidden places to visit you know of?
@@RenataPereiraTV I left the foreign service in 1981 and returned to Canada where I work as a semi retired physician. I now live on an island in the Thousand Islands in Ontario. Another beautiful vlog. The smog caused by burning in Sumatra, Indonesia was a damper on an ortherwise superb panoramic view. The water around Ferringhi Beach is not very clean and has a lot of jelly fish. Have had friends who got stung by the jellyfish. The jetski and the para sailing would definitely have to be nice activities at Ferringhi beach. 22 years ago, my wife who was a kidney dialysis patient on CAPD, and I, did para sailing separately. I did the jetski as well for 20 minutes. It was much less than half the price you quoted.
Oh wow, Sam! Thanks for the info, interesting to learn how it has changed and to know that the info I saw online about jellyfish was actually correct. All the best!
Fun fact: The Malay name for Penang Hill is Bukit Bendera (Flag Hill). We absorbed Bendera from the Portuguese word Bandeira, which is also a common word in Brazil I believe. Language connects us :)

Looks like you guys enjoyed Penang! Went to Penang last month & yeap the visibility is low from our high rise hotel we stayed. This is due to the haze caused by open fires in Indonesia. It's haze season now. It's not natural though. It's from some burning forest in Indonesia. Which side? Not sure. They are clearing the forest to prepare for some palm tree plantation or sumtin. Unfortunately, they do it every year despite receiving complaints from Malaysia and Singapore.
Gordon is not far wrong. The maple syrup taste he got was from the gula malacca they pour on the chendol. It does a bit like maple syrup. Well done Gordon.

It's haze season now. It's not natural though. It's from some burning forest in Indonesia. Which side? Not sure. They are clearing the forest to prepare for some palm tree plantation or sumtin. Unfortunately, they do it every year despite receiving complaints from Malaysia and Singapore.
😢😢😕😕
Very good explanation from you Renata...luv U so much..
Hi Zana! Awwww! Thank you so much! 😍😍😍
The syrup tastes like maple syrup in cendol is actually "gula melaka" or Malaysian palm sugar. It's used almost all Malaysian cuisine. 😊
Thank you for the information. Very tasty! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, nice way of showcasing places, not a single moment of boring. Too good. Like you beautiful lady & no nonsense really good partner.
prayaag P we thank you for your comments and for watching!😃
Gordon is not far wrong. The maple syrup taste he got was from the gula malacca they pour on the chendol. It does a bit like maple syrup. Well done Gordon.
He thanks you...and we thank you for watching commmenting.
renata : you and your patner should visit Langkawi. nice sunset entire Malaysia
Unfortunately we didn't have the time, but we loved Penang so much and we will be back
Hi Renata I wrote you a song because we all love you and your videos.
It's to the tune of Girl from Ipanema.
Tall and tanned still young and lovely
The girl from the 3 rivers goes travelling
And when she vlogs all her viewers goes
Ahhhh
When she talks she has charisma
The banter with hubby so full of laughter
She's from heaven this is my confession we say
Ahhh
Ohh isn't she lovely
Does she know we adore her
Yes we'll subsribe to her glady
Every time she's on our screens
The world's such a sweet place to be
Brazil USA Japan Malaysia
Renata tv's a visual fantasia
And where I see where she has been
That's where we want to be
That's where we want to be
Through Renata tv
Ohhhh my, Glenn!!!! I feel soooo honored!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much! I feel so privileged to be able to connect with people all over the world through my videos, and responses like yours make it even more clear to me that it's all worth it 😍😍. THANK YOU!
You are so welcome Renata. There's a lot of love for you from your viewers because you are so warm and sweet. I'm so glad you loved the song. Lots of love from New Zealand and can't wait to see more. The first video I saw of you was from Singapore to Malaysia on the bus. I'm hooked now!
Glenn Davies Thank you so much, Glenn! You made my day ❤️❤️
I'm Penangite, you should actually visit The Habitat and spend the whole day inPenang Hill. The Habitat is where you can enjoy the beautiful virgin tropical forest of Northwest Penang.
WY Xiao, thank you for the suggestion. WE will remember for a future return visit
Renata. Vc e o Gordon em algum momento da viagem a Asia "Penang" chegaram a passar mau com alimentos consumidos?.
Vcs não trem receio dessas comidas, principalmente as comidas de rua?
Vcs experimentam tudo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I just love your detailed and fun recording of everything that ensures an authentic and convenient trip.
I’m actually planning my trip with my husband and 2yr toddler, do you recommend this kind of arrangements to a toddler to be included?
Where are you traveling from? Are you talking Penang or Penang Hill only?
@@RenataPereiraTV Thank you for the reply!
I’m coming from Kuwait, and our plan goes: Langkawi→Penang→Kuala Lumpur
But my question is about Penang’s activity specifically regarding visiting Penang Hill.
I also would appreciate whatever feedback you have on activities that include temples, street foods, etc.
Are they not too crowded for children, how about the weather, do you feel it’s tolerable for a child?
i love ....
Thank you, I really appreciate it 😉😊😉😊😉😊😉😊

Hi, I am local here. I born in the island and now staying mainland cross the bridge, and work in the island.
Nice! Penang might be a nice place to live, there's a lot going on there
Hi renata, in your opinion which time is better to go there? Bc i don’t want to go there in with alot of people, 9am or 5pm?
We left at around 3pm and there was almost no line to get in. So I believe from 3-4 pm should be better. And go on a weekday and get your ticket in advance 😉
