- Today on the workbench we breakdown a Sig Copperhead and take a look at the internals and how to remove/replace the PDW style brace. Please let me know where I can improve on camera positions or anything you see. Im open to suggestions.
I love my Copperhead, very accurate to be a 3 inch barrel. People misunderstand the Copperhead. Very versatile can change barrel lengths, calibers, or set for suppressors. It was designed for VIP protection and is currently in the military's test with other manufactures for security teams to protect their generals in the field.
As a PDW for VIP protection, security, and the military that is in its automatic/submachine gun form.
I am pretty sure the Copperhead in the video & for sale on the US civilian market is
a neutered semi-auto version.
I think people misunderstand what problem the copperhead solves. Imagine you are in your car at a stop with traffic backed up. Suddenly you hear shots ring out within 100 yrds. You dont have your AR with you because you are driving a compact sedan so you reach in your glove compartment.
In one scenario your glove compartment has your trusty pistol. You ready it, and as soon as you are combat ready, your radius of effective accuracy from your car is somewhere between say 20-40 yrds
Scenario 2. Your glove compartment has this copperhead inside. Fitted with a 30 rd mag, a backup mag and a dot sight that can be deployed in seconds. Question, how much larger do you think your combat effective radius is from your car this time? I would argue that it is much larger than before, with a brace pulled out this firearm will mulitply your combat effective range in the same amount of time it takes to pull out your pistol from that glove box. Now that is pretty badass when you think about it.
What other gun can actually fit in the glove box and stay concealed in the car, that has that capability? Not many.
I love my copperhead. I replaced the barrel with a threaded option from In Lead We Trust and replaced the trigger with a Timney
Maybe my favorite firearm I own. Compact and accurate. A great combo for interior defense and mid defensive at about 100 to 200 feet.
Proably more like 200 yards
leo leonaids absolutely, I go out about 250 yards with it. But 100 to 200 it is excellent
@@hardwood6927 i have 1....excellent firearm. Just added some iron sights and a tail hook
When you took off the original PDW retractable brace and removed the locking pin that holds it, it left an open hole on each side of the receiver. Could you have put that pin back in and would it have been held in place by the buffer? If not, what do you do about the open hole on each side of the lower?
You can see how well they applied the new cerekote finish compared to the older cerekote applications which were not durable
thanks for the great explanation.
Thanks for the great breakdown vid!
Awesome - Thanks!!!
Thanks, just what I needed
Will the side folder still fold flat with the Copperhead's integrated lugs still there?
Just installed a JP Enhanced Reliability Trigger Spring Kit Red,Yellow Took my Trigger from hideous 9 Lbs. to a Smooth 5.05 Lbs. Under $12.00 Will be putting out Vid Soon.🇺🇸🍻👍
I like it. But I'd like a slightly longer barrel with a thread on it. A better lighter trigger and I think I would go without a brace. I have a hperfire tigger in my ar308 and I love it. So I'm pretty sure I'll get a copperhead one-day.
Curious where do you lube the bolt is ot same as ar?
I got the black copperhead. I think it says came with a timney trigger. Is flat trigger, do you think I should change it? Also is the folding brace much longer compare to the sliding brace? I wanna change it to the polymer folding brace might be easier on my cheek. The metal sliding brace smack my cheek hurts a lot. You know.. Can't shoulder a arm brace but we can cheek the brace for more stable shots. But under drills trying to do it fast. I've bruise my cheek many times.
I wouldn't change the trigger from a timney flat. It's a good trigger. I'm not sure on the length difference between the two. I'm sure there's a small difference but not enough to be real noticeable.
@@jbrown287 thanks!
I need tht screw driver cuz I’m have to take this brace off Wht is it
Where did you get the adapter for the tailhook on the folding brace?
Can this type of brace fit on a mpx k
This video helped a lot 🙏
Giving u a sub and a like
How did you get the rubber swivel brace off of the MXC stock to change it out?
If you can grip it tight enough you can just squeeze the rubber around the screw that you can are in the back. Otherwise use pliers to squeeze it. They arent very tight
Does this have the same style of proprietary bolt as the MCX Virtus?
Yes the bolts look very similar. But the difference being this is 9mm and the virtus is the 223.
Sorry, I should’ve been more specific. Is it a tapered bolt? Or could you run a different companies 9mm bolt in the gun like you could with the original MCX
@@zachbutler1417 I cant say for sure on that. It doesnt look like any other 9mm bolt I have. But I'm limited to 2.
How long is it without the brace attached?
A little over 12 inches
Coming in handy it’s new atf rules 😡😡
- This is also a general statement for all these new PDW semi-auto firearms being put out by the Gun Industry -
*$1599 USD!!* ($1600 USD) for a fancy no real advantages "semi-auto pistol" that has lots of disadvantages to a regular pistol??
I don't get these neutered (i.e. semi-automatic) sub-machine gun style pistols being put out lately & for what role??
Other than making more money that is.
Shame.
I used this gun and I agree with you, it doesn't make much sense over a pistol with a red dot optic. A pistol with a red dot is more than accurate enough, this doesn't offer much. Maybe if it was automatic it would offer more but in its semi automatic state it is not advantageous over a pistol, unless you were taking an aimed shot and then it may be slightly easier to get an inch closer.
A pistol in my opinion allows you to take quicker shots and shots from cover.
@@Fighter4Street These *new PDW semi-autos* are lacking the main thing
that gave them their advantage = *_automatic fire_*
Having a SIG Copperhead, a Thompson A1 semi-auto, a Scorpion semi-auto, a MP5 semi-auto is like
ordering a hamburger and saying _"I would like that without the meat"._ Thus, you now have a *_wish sandwich._*
Not the same.
