- Plant Shutdowns are some of the most challenging work in any industry, particularly in Oil & Gas Sector. We are often doing non-routine tasks and even tasks for the first time. Contractors may be working on site that have limited or no site knowledge. Not to mention people working long hours with work pressure and some hazards and their risks are just “part and parcel” of the shutdown process

What is the safety officer role in catalyst replacement task at refinery during shut down?
Catalyst is pyrophoric (catches fire once comes to atmosphere) so the catalyst is removed in Inert atmosphere. Its a specialized subject. Refer API STD 2217A - Guidelines for Safe Work in Inert Confined Spaces in the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries, for better understanding

If your agreement says 6 months shut down, then you need to work for 6 months .. Sorry I donot understand your question

Generally shut down takes between 12-15 days
But Turn around (Shut down jobs with long duration with multiple works) job takes longer, 6 months could be possible
Again choice is yours. your benefits, your interest etc

Sure, still you can find job as Hole watcher or Fire watcher in shut downs. You need to approach some good agencies or ads.
