I think it has something to do with size, a lot of people are terrified of small insects but don't have problems with large insects like Hercules or Rhino beetles. I think we tend to associate large insects in the same category as mice, where its more common to find them cute rather than disgusting or creepy.
Spectronic Also the turantulas and jumping spiders are furry so that makes them look a bit softer and cuter. Plus the fact that a turantula isn't a spider to be in your room suddenly when you're sleeping and then bite you like most other common spiders found in/around homes.
I'm glad you included the fact that tarantula venom isn't potent enough to kill a human. You're more likely to die from a heart attack after being surprised by one than it's venom.
Evan Thayne The last time someone died from Spider Venom in Australia was in 1987 (or at least the last time it was documented as the cause of death). Sorry for bumping an old comment
I have to say, your comment about Houdini reminded me of one of my own experiences. I was housesitting in the UK when I saw a huge house spider coming in my direction (huge as in about 3 inches; the normal size for house spiders in the UK is around 1-2 inches). Although I love watching spiders and find them fascinating, I really don't like those house spiders near me and so I promptly moved to the other side of the room and stood there paralyzed with terror. It reached the shadow of the chair I'd been sitting in and stopped. I moved or knocked something - I can't remember what - and that spider moved so fast it literally vanished in front of my eyes. For anyone wondering what happened next, the story has a somewhat happy ending; after The Giant House Spider had kept coming out for a couple of nights and royally freaking me out each time, I decided to name him, on the basis that if you name something, you get attached to it, and if you get attached to it then hopefully it won't scare you quite so much. So he (she?) went from The Giant House Spider to "Rufus". It actually worked too; after a few days Rufus and I had reached a point of peaceful coexistence and I used to worry about him if I didn't see him for a couple of nights XD
I used to have spider in my shower I named George. But I had to wash him down the drain when he descended on me one day.. :( Still feel kinda bad about it.
I'm not a big fan of house spiders which is annoying as they seem to grow huge where I live. Not uncommon to see 5 inch specimens. Even had 6 inch bastard once which was really grey. I'm guessing that one was a really ancient female.
Well, Rufus always stayed in the lounge except for one time when he took it into his head to visit the bathroom. I don't know how he avoided getting squished, but I just know I wrapped the towel around myself after a shower and caught sight of him out the corner of my eye; he was sitting on my shoulder. If it had been any spider but Rufus, I would have probably screamed loud enough to burst my neighbor's eardrums. Since it was Rufus, I just took the towel into the lounge and let him run off (he seemed to have a little home in the far corner, although I never saw it and never investigated too closely). Giving spiders goofy-sounding names really works!
Where i live there's a freakin' lot of Heteropoda Venatoria (not really good looking spiders tbh, but they aren't offensive) One day i caught one in my room and i was like uuh what are you doing boi you don't belong here So i made an enclosure for him and let him on my desk lmao but one day he disappeared like houdini

This is the best demo of old/new worlds I’ve yet seen online. VERY well done sir. BTW while Chris Columbus is usually credited as the first Euro dude to come here (much to the chagrin of the indigenous people already in residence for a few thousand years) There is plenty of evidence the ‘Vikings’ of Scandinavia got here century or two earlier... they just didn’t feel the need to share the info.
Ye well not really unless you live in Spain or Italy :D....as far as Im aware of those are the only two nations that have these beasts of some kind. other than that, you wont find much any big spiders in Europe, especially not in Nordic countries.
Jenwhyfer if it gets in your eyes you either get permanently blinded or if you’re lucky temporarily blinded. That’s why I normally wear sunglasses when handling, feeding or cleaning a tarantula
It is very similar to fiberglass, as someone who has frequently handled it and also had a skittish t that frequently launched hair when I tried to feed or water her lol I would just reach down a little bit the second I touch the cup, bam knee hairs in my fingers lol
Thanks a lot for all the info! I now know for sure that my recently acquired tarantula is definitely a new world species. She’s so very chill, she’s never attacked me nor does she run ( I never handle her but still ). The pet shop sold her to me as a ‘striped knee tarantula’. I just posted some videos of her.
@@Aurora_OldAudios you mustn’t be an Aussie because they are real. They’re in my house and I hold a few of them. They don’t bite because they’re teeth will snap. I know because I’ve been bitten by one it didn’t hurt. It just felt weird and tickled
I'm so happy I suscribed to you a couple of months ago. You definitely have become one of my alltime favorite UA-camrs. I seriously laughed out loud watching your video and I always come back to them when I feel sad or need a break from studying because I just KNOW that you will be able to cheer me up! Your videos are always so entertaining and informative at the same time and you put so much effort into them, to make them even more entertaining for us. Your videos have also improved so much since I've subscribend and I love that you want to make even better videos for us. Keep your sense of humor (I'm totally in love with it) and I'm already looking forward to your new video! :D
Dude, seriously, I'm a fan of your work, keep it up, i really look forward to your videos, if i can be half as good as you in keeping tarantulas, then I'll be really happy.... I'm from the Philippines btw....
Thats actually a thing? I thought it just itched the eyes or nose if it came into contact... I want a tarantula but my mother is allergic to bees. Hearing this video explicitly say if you're allergic to bees you're likely allergic to tarantula venom.... and she does a lot of the care of even my fish (because she's a control freak. Not because I'm a lazy pet owner > 3>) hearing this might also dissuade me... I like handling my animals. My fish even let me pet them.
Some common types of guppy, or goldfish will do. It really does simply depend on the fish's personality and on how much you stick your hand in the water so they get used to you.
So I always kinda thought that spiders are fascinating but I panick when I'm in the same room with one. This is kinda sad but I can't really change it. Even watching Videos of them gives me a strange feeling. BUT! not with your videos. I can't stop watching your videos, they are so interesting and fascinating!
I'm the same way. That's why I started watching these videos, and I've made a lot of progress. Almost held a tarantula recently. But small spiders appearing in my house still freak me out
Ok 👀 I've never hear that sound before. Reminds me of my ball python when they are in a bad mood. I never asked but I guess my assumption on what the term old world meant was accurate. Interesting video mate.
I love your channel, you actually made me love these guys. They are so beautiful and so underappreciated. Thank you for sharing your content. I watch your channel all the time. Hehe. ❤️
Thankyou for this video!answered so many of my questions! I'm terrified of spiders so I don't plan to be starting a t collection any time soon. But I love your channel and the way you love your Ts, and it's so cool to learn more about them!! Almost makes them less scary!
Them editing skills ❤️ No joke, I love it. You're really trying for us :) The video was really interesting, I had no idea that there's something like OW and NW tarantula.
This is by far the best explanatory video about spiders I know. Objectively explained very well, with wit and humor. And an extremely pleasant voice! Greetings from Germany

I love when your Ts give you threat postures and you talk to them. I know it sounds stupid but I find it so hilarious. I love it. I love all your videos. I just wished you’d post more often. I wait patiently. Can I get a shout out. I am a huge fan from North Carolina USA. Have a great week.
My son and I love your vids... this one made us laugh... and omg I thought the difference between old world and new world were the same as what you first thought too... love the videos...
I am new to your channel, and I can't stop watching. Im scared of spiders, but I love to watch you take care of your pets. You're so smart and well spoken. OK that's all thank you. 😊
I have a pumpkin patch tarantula and he ate my wolf spider because my wolf spider escaped and accidentally fell in to the pumpkin patch tarantula cage and i trust notice it today
I've been binge watching a few of your vids now. I don't have arachnophobia and tarantulas seem pretty cool. Keep up with the nice refreshing contents! 💯❤️
"what to do when a tarantula starts kicking at you: first things first, you want to back away from it, you dont want to go close and be like-" *snorts tarantula hairs* WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY?
Video suggestion: and granted I haven’t seen all your videos, I only just started watching about a week ago but would love to see a video on what are some research topics or questions to ask yourself when looking to get a tarantula. I already know I would be more comfortable with a New World but then what goes into having one that webs and one that borrows? Etc. maybe just how you got started figuring out what you were comfortable with and such. Thanks for your videos!

Hope you have headphones on
@@kd3thedrawinggamer880 You don't watch tarantula videos in restaurants?
Why are u on your phone at a restaurant?
I live in europe... well I guess im gonna die
Sentient Zealot XIII you're talking to the dead guy ☠️☠️☠️😂
@Sentient Zealot XIII yep
Ye well not really unless you live in Spain or Italy :D....as far as Im aware of those are the only two nations that have these beasts of some kind.
other than that, you wont find much any big spiders in Europe, especially not in Nordic countries.

Old World: **At Doom's Gate plays**
“Hairy Houdini” 😆 you’re too cute
Your filming and editing skills are getting better and better mate. Iv watched you for a while and I can see a huge improvement. Keep them coming!!
titaniumonkey What ?! His filming his computer Screen lol
All he did was pop something onto his laptop and record it on his phone lmfaoo
Thank you for explaining Old World vs. New World. I am learning a lot from you, especially to treat these beautiful creatures respectfully.
If getting hairs kicked on you by a tarantula is anything like getting hair splinters (which I get daily as a hairdresser), I’m out lmao
Jenwhyfer if it gets in your eyes you either get permanently blinded or if you’re lucky temporarily blinded. That’s why I normally wear sunglasses when handling, feeding or cleaning a tarantula
It sucks
It honestly reminds me of getting fiberglass insulation on your skin
@@deadgirlwalking4354 it's pretty similar to fiberglass from what I've heard/read. Definitely worse than human hair splinters.
I just posted some videos of her.
love how passionate you are about these guys.
Yo...I hate spiders and tarantulas but I watch ur videos anyways and as soon as I heard that tarantula hiss I dropped my phone
Okonkwo, The Great literally same. I’ve got horrible arachnophobia but I’ve just been binge watching his videos
I honestly hated spiders and tarantula but now I don’t think tarantulas are that bad
Shaun none of your business Daddy long leg isn’t a spider
@@Aurora_OldAudios you mustn’t be an Aussie because they are real. They’re in my house and I hold a few of them. They don’t bite because they’re teeth will snap. I know because I’ve been bitten by one it didn’t hurt. It just felt weird and tickled
you left the main difference!
Old worlds hate Exotics and want to kill him and new worlds over with it and tend to ignore him😂
I'm so happy I suscribed to you a couple of months ago.
Same
Too many wordsssss its just a dude with giant spiders
Still I subbed to I just don't act like a number 1 fan still cool vids
Dude, seriously, I'm a fan of your work, keep it up, i really look forward to your videos, if i can be half as good as you in keeping tarantulas, then I'll be really happy....
I'm from the Philippines btw....

I love the fact you felt it necessary to provide a Houdini explanation! So thoughtful
If you ever get hairs kicked at you and it itches really bad make sure you always have avino anti itch cream! It works wonders! 😁
Shelby thank you i'm going to try this. It only ever happened once when I accidentally spooked my Rose hair but good lord, a week-long itch
drragonwolf yes trust me that stuff is amazing. Another thing that works great is Calamine lotion. But I think avino is better.
drragonwolf aloe is better, or Elmer’s glue (let it dry then peel it off)
Thats actually a thing?
I used to hate, and I mean HATE spiders and since I started to watch your vids I kinda want one 😂❤️
Lucy Sutton me too lol
I still hate spiders with a passion, but Tarantulas are the big exception, I love these things .
Same .
They are like hamsters with eight legs to me.
Please thank your tarantulas more! It’s super cute and made my day!
So I always kinda thought that spiders are fascinating but I panick when I'm in the same room with one. This is kinda sad but I can't really change it. Even watching Videos of them gives me a strange feeling. BUT! not with your videos. I can't stop watching your videos, they are so interesting and fascinating!
exactly my situation xD
Marie BlaBlubb I Feel you there
Agreed so much. 😅
I'm the same way. That's why I started watching these videos, and I've made a lot of progress. Almost held a tarantula recently.
But small spiders appearing in my house still freak me out
Marie BlaBlubb this is a true arachnidphobia not like the other people make up
Ok 👀 I've never hear that sound before. Reminds me of my ball python when they are in a bad mood. I never asked but I guess my assumption on what the term old world meant was accurate. Interesting video mate.
Just found your channel, and am absolutely loving it. Very informative for anyone considering getting into tarantulas.
I have arachnophobia but I keep watching your videos. I feel like I have learned a lot watching this. Thank you
I love your channel, you actually made me love these guys.
I loved that pulp fiction reference. 😂

Exotic: You guys learned your history right?
Me: Yeah
Exotic: well, I’m pretty sure that Christopher Columbus discovered America-
Me: *Flashbacks to all the teachers that told me anyone who said this was wrong*
You don't discover a place inhabited by millions, mate.
Christopher Columbus can’t discover a place when Natives already been established there.
@@gamongames he did discover it in a sense that the civilized world discovered it. You know a country with a flag
Don't fall for eurocentric propaganda.
There were civilizations here too, whole empires with bustling cities, agriculture and Science.
@@JoseGarcia-yq2ye wrong. I discovered america.
So what's the most docile, friendly, tarantula that doesn't throw hairs or doesn't bite unless REALLY provoked????
Probably a Blondie, I've heard most Red knees and Bird Eaters are chill too.
A dog
A guppy!
Bird eaters tend to be as docile as they come from what I've heard.
Grammastola rosea or Chilean rose hair
6:36 That's one T H I C C spider
What species is that?
BRANIS SvK Brachypelma Boehmei.
Thanks :)
BRANIS SvK your not gonna beat your meat to a spider are you

You're a great teacher dude! Loved this video!

It’s like Spider-Man when triggered
I love when your Ts give you threat postures and you talk to them. I know it sounds stupid but I find it so hilarious. I love it. I love all your videos. I just wished you’d post more often. I wait patiently. Can I get a shout out. I am a huge fan from North Carolina USA. Have a great week.
My son and I love your vids... this one made us laugh... and omg I thought the difference between old world and new world were the same as what you first thought too... love the videos...

This was SO educational and interesting. Usually youre hilarious and light . great video. I can see you being a teacher after this video
While I was watching this my tarantula was struggling to eat it's super worm.😂
I actually had been wondering how tarantulas poop so thank you for that lol.
I am new to your channel, and I can't stop watching. Im scared of spiders, but I love to watch you take care of your pets. You're so smart and well spoken. OK that's all thank you. 😊
OK. What did I learned today?
OWS: Aggressive and loves to bite and "Oh no..oh god...."

This was very educational! I always enjoy watching you’re tarantula videos! 😀
Diddnt know tarantulas can hiss 😂😂😂
Houdini was an escape artist just like ma cat
the vikings actually discovered america before columbus. 1002 :)
specialunit 042 also Americo Vespucci, but they didn’t know it was a new continent.
specialunit 042 they didn’t discover shit. The natives were here first then The Europeans killed them all

Nope the ancient mongols found the new world first through the Bering land bridge.

I clicked on this because I like how old worlds react. 😂
"what to do when a tarantula starts kicking at you:
first things first, you want to back away from it, you dont want to go close and be like-"
*snorts tarantula hairs*
WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY?
Video suggestion: and granted I haven’t seen all your videos, I only just started watching about a week ago but would love to see a video on what are some research topics or questions to ask yourself when looking to get a tarantula. I already know I would be more comfortable with a New World but then what goes into having one that webs and one that borrows? Etc. maybe just how you got started figuring out what you were comfortable with and such. Thanks for your videos!
