Over 35 years since this originally aired and it's still hysterical to me. My mom passed in 1991 and this was one of her favorite songs, I remember us watching this together and cracking up. Johnny's impression is spot on and Julio is a champ for being able to sing the song while barely containing his laughter. Just brilliant!
I agree with you 😅😂 every time I watch this video I'm laughing till tears🤣 Johnny Carson is incredible here! Both his humour and to impersonate Willi. Love this. 😊Have a lovely day.
It is sad to approach the era where there is more life behind me than ahead of me. So many of the finest experiences seem trivial in their time. We blink and it disappears from sight. Thank you Mr. Carson. Many of my most treasured and powerful experiences are larger because you are there with me as it happened... I relive the joy and pain each time i view them.... Timeless
I was blessed to watch this the night it aired. Johnny definitely nailed this and I'm SO happy Julio went with it so well and didn't laugh! This is a huge moment of Johnny's Tonight Show. I had begun to be aware of Julio during this time and am a lifelong fan. Johnny always made Julio comfortable by speaking Spanish to him when he appeared by speaking Spanish to him during commercial breaks and when he felt Julio didn't understand a question. Class all the way.
There will NEVER BE a person that could come close to Johnny Carson ! He is undiscribably funny ! HILARIOUS !! Rest in peace Johnny . You are TRULY missed and loved ! Definitely the Greatest of all time!!!
Johnny is incredible! He can sing, replicate a voice, follow rhythms, and NEVER CRACK a smile like he's losing it! Julio lost it several times, but not Johnny! Fantastic control and professionalism.
World class entertainment. It doesn’t get better than this. It makes me sad to think that these days are long gone. Jonny Carson was/is the greatest of all time.
+Kyle Kennedy, Carson created "a classic style" for late-night entertainment that will be a high standard against which many others shall be judged for a long time to come.
Julio, what a class act!! His gestures, body language and holding it together when he's about to burst out laughing. This has got to be one of the top two performances from The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Johnny was always great at impersonating other stars but this one he totally nailed!!
Johnny was the best TV host who ever lived and Julio is a class act and true artist to pull himself together and nail that song. Entertainment like this will never exist again.
Nina Baugh I read that Carson wasn't much for practicing before the show but he said he wanted this song to be as good as he could make it and he spent a lot of time on it...and it shows...thank you Mr Carson...I didn't always watch the show but fortunately I was watching the night this aired
For weeks previously, he used to "sing" that line ("to all the girls I loved before") during slow parts of his monologues. This was the inevitable conclusion.
This ranks up there with Mr. Carson's "Rhinestone Cowboy" performance. How in the world Julio maintained a straight face enough to still hit his amazing talent still baffles me. This is the way you do late night talk show comedy.
Holy cow where did the years go? I saw this the first time it aired, a 23 year old new dad...I had to put my hand over my mouth to keep from waking up my wife and our 5 month old daughter. The genius of this performance is that Johnny knows exactly what he's trying to do and how to do it--- He does a leave it all on the stage imitation of Willie and even gives it some emotional depth...it is Julio who can't keep a straight face! It works precisely because JOHNNY is doing it. It's an oblique kind of thing but to a comedic genius...straighforward stuff. I miss those nights 11:30-1am in the early days then (like in thus bit) 11:39-12:30....
This was one of the great Johnny Carson moments. He sang so well, you wonder why he didn't sing more often. He started out trying to sound like Willie, but sang more like himself. This is one of the great songs ever written and recorded, and should be on anyone's list of the best love songs of all time.
Julio was a HUGE international star at this time but couldn't get a real foothold in the U.S. Johnny was a big fan of Julio's from early on and gave him repeated exposure on The Tonight Show, enough to help him get recognized and respected.
I was in NYC during the mid sixties and early 70',nobody's ever come close to Johnny's very quick and very sharp wit..and perfect timing in his delivery.
Watching Julio do his best at holding in his laughter cracks me up every time! I've watched this a hundred times and laugh so hard, so Julio I'm doing what you can't do on stage...so enjoy!
In a day and age where late night show hosts think they are social activist, this is a reminder of what a late night show should be all about; that is making people smile and laugh even if it's just for a few moments. Johnny Carson you were the best, RIP.
Julio had a hard time refraining himself from laughing, what a class act!! alongside Johnny the King of late night grand Daddy of all of those who came afterwards.
Julio, one of the world's hugest stars could never quite make it in the U.S. Johnny never stopped bringing him on to show his stuff to America and build a following. Julio loved him.
OMG.I just watch this.man I'm telling you I had tears in my eye.remember them both in those days.while their duet so amazing. I love them both.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Omigosh, my son just posted the link to this on my FB timeline. I was in Germany at the time so missed this show. I Can't believe how well Johnny was able to imitate Willie, this was excellent! Thanks so much to my son Jeff, oh how I enjoyed this!
Julio Iglesias and Johnny Carson were so great. Johnny Carson did a great take on Willie Nelson and of course Julio is just fantastically good looking with a beautiful voice.
When Willie was on, he called Johnny over and they sang it together. Willie sang Julios part and Johnny did Willie. ua-cam.com/video/LmH9nTnwO_4/v-deo.html
I saw it the night this was aired and thanks to platforms like this, I regularly keep on coming back to watch it. It is funny, it is utterly charming and it’s very touching nowadays. Of Julio, Willie and Johnny, only Julio is still alive at 80 years young and looks to be rather frail. Imagine. My mom used to be so tickled at Julio’s pronunciation of eks-stah-cee” and we all never missed a night of Johnny as much as we could help it. Seeing them both in a skit was just the limit for JC and JI fans - a double serving of chocolate sundaes! What a time that was! 🎉
Julio loved Johnny. Iglesias had a tough time being as huge a hit in the U.S. as he was in the rest of the world. Johnny had him on MANY times and helped make him known.
I know I saw this on Tonight Show, but couldn't say if it was "live", an episode repeat back then, or like a special clip on an end of the year highlights section... it was hilarious then. I would love to have seen Willie react to it...
Julio was a good sport about this. And, Johnny nailed his impression of Willie. RIP, Mr. Carson...You are very sadly missed.
Heeeeerrrrsss Johnny.....👍👍👍👍.....
Johnny really nailed this one. The best late nite host of all time. R. I. P. Mr. Carson.
I was a huge JulioFan. I saw this episode live. Trivia - Julio is Enrique Iglesias father.

To all the night time talk show hosts we've loved before, no one, none of them, will ever be as great as Johnny Carson. We miss you terribly.
The funniest part was when Johnny, as Willie, sang, "To all the girls who shared my life, who now are someone else's wife!" Hilarious!
Too relevant
I agree with you 😅😂 every time I watch this video I'm laughing till tears🤣
Johnny Carson is incredible here! Both his humour and to impersonate Willi. Love this.

Julio started laughing the minute he saw Willie, uh, Johnny. A performance for the ages.
How many found this strangely touching? Julio with his charm and Johnny’s excellent impersonation of Willie.
I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD. JC able to impersonate Willie Nelson PERFECTLY.....
I was blessed to watch this the night it aired. Johnny definitely nailed this and I'm SO happy Julio went with it so well and didn't laugh! This is a huge moment of Johnny's Tonight Show.

Johnny, the best late night host ever! Kudos for both performances! 👏👏👏
Incomparable. The greatest late night host of all time.
+Kyle Kennedy : I agree.
+Kyle Kennedy, Carson created "a classic style" for late-night entertainment that will be a high standard against which many others shall be judged for a long time to come.
A ese julio se le apaga la voz en el tercer y cuarto tiempo en el mismo compás.
I don't think that Julio Iglesias or Willie Nelson ever hosted a late night show....
@@djm5687 lolwut
I've watched this at least 1000 times so far Julio is amazed and cracking up at the same time and Carson staying in character CLASSIC...
Julio, what a class act!! His gestures, body language and holding it together when he's about to burst out laughing. This has got to be one of the top two performances from The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Johnny was always great at impersonating other stars but this one he totally nailed!!

Johnny= PERFECTION. R.I.P. Mr Carson, we miss ya.
Great singer, Julio -- comedic genius, Johnny!!
You know - - - this was probably intended to be "funny" BUT Johnny actually did a good job!!!!! A huge thank you to the individual who posted this.
Nina Baugh I read that Carson wasn't much for practicing before the show but he said he wanted this song to be as good as he could make it and he spent a lot of time on it...and it shows...thank you Mr Carson...I didn't always watch the show but fortunately I was watching the night this aired

Johnny Carson's Spirit posted this. Thank you, John
Johnny stayed in character the whole time. Miss him so much.
I remember watching this LIVE with my Dad. We were both laughing hysterically. Such good stuff.
No one late night has that kind of range today. New level of respect for the best.
Absolutely classic. I remember my sister and I watching this like it was yesterday. 30 years? (goes into denial mode)
This ranks up there with Mr. Carson's "Rhinestone Cowboy" performance. How in the world Julio maintained a straight face enough to still hit his amazing talent still baffles me. This is the way you do late night talk show comedy.
I agree with you!!!
This Made Me 😅 Then Still Does 40 years Later Especially Johnny Doing Willie Nelson The Best He Could But It Was Good
I don't how Julio Iglesias kept from laughing so hard when Johnny Carson came out as Willie Nelson, he kept it together right to the end!!
I remember watching this the first time it aired. Beautiful is all I got to say. RIP Johnny.

Simpático vídeo con Johnny Carson imitando a Willie Nelson. Genial!!!. ❤️❤️❤️
I remember watching this when it first aired. I was 8 and my dad couldn't stop laughing
Julio was a HUGE international star at this time but couldn't get a real foothold in the U.S. Johnny was a big fan of Julio's from early on and gave him repeated exposure on The Tonight Show, enough to help him get recognized and respected.
I'm glad he didn't. He would have become tainted.
He had a solid run in the 80s. And he’s still rolling. A supreme talent.
I mean “To All The Girls” was huge by the time of this episode. That song and the duet with Diana Ross broke him in the U.S.
I am not really sure why he wanted to sing in English, his voice is so fit for French, Italian, Portuguese, and of course his native Spanish.
@CoolCars1-jl7rh what do you by " tailored for him"?
I was in NYC during the mid sixties and early 70',nobody's ever come close to Johnny's very quick and very sharp wit..and perfect timing in his delivery.
Fantastic clip. No one did it better than Johnny. Julio was amazing too. A perfect match.
Another man who's an incredibly beautiful voice.. Julio Iglesias. Charming.
Johnny Carson is a sadly missed. RIP.
Watching Julio do his best at holding in his laughter cracks me up every time! I've watched this a hundred times and laugh so hard, so Julio I'm doing what you can't do on stage...so enjoy!

Julio cracking up is the best part
He was always and will continue to be the best. He was great
Julio's voice sounds like silk compared to johnny's this video is priceless lol
johnny,we all miss you......1968-1992 for me
that was fabulous absolutely nailed willie.what a fantastic cameo
Johnny was awesome but Julio, this man will never be replaced.
JOHNNY WAS PERFECT ! I saw this when it aired that night. IT WAS HILARIOUS ! Hehehe :D
I remember it well.
The best impersonation of willie I've heard and seen in my 58 years !
I keep coming back for this, ha ha.. the best!! 😉
Classic memories! Oh how I miss Johnnie even today. There will never be another.
Julio had a hard time refraining himself from laughing, what a class act!! alongside Johnny the King of late night grand Daddy of all of those who came afterwards.
Especially considering Johnny told him he could NOT laugh
Bellissimo video julio si diverte.. Ma johnny imita bene Willie.. 😊🤗😁😁😍😘😍😘🎶🎸💘❤️💋💯💋💯🌅
They are incredibles !!! REALLLY !!
Julio, one of the world's hugest stars could never quite make it in the U.S. Johnny never stopped bringing him on to show his stuff to America and build a following. Julio loved him.
Pretty sure Julio did very well in the U.S. Check out all of the hits and duets he did with American artists.
@@therrealdeal916 Eventually, later on.
This was one of the best shows ever! Johnny was a ten. Move over Willie, though no one can compare to you!
Johnny was the best! No one can compare. Late-night TV has changed, undesirable now. And then Julio, yummy!!
I love Johnny. That was great 👍 👌 👏 😄
OMG.I just watch this.man I'm telling you I had tears in my eye.remember them both in those days.while their duet so amazing. I love them both.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Wow...
Instant flashback to being a little kid watching this live with my mother!
Man, this was almost better than the original. Makes you kinda want to cry too.
Omigosh, my son just posted the link to this on my FB timeline. I was in Germany at the time so missed this show. I Can't believe how well Johnny was able to imitate Willie, this was excellent! Thanks so much to my son Jeff, oh how I enjoyed this!
One of the two or three best things Carson ever did!
This is my favorite ever !!! Love you Johnny!! RIP
Is there ever any end to Johnny's talent? This is a carbon copy of Julio actually singing with Willie Nelson!!!
Love this!!
he was awesome. Johnny Carson was an amazing entertainer.
Julio e fora de serie! Number one do mundo!Te amamos
One of my favorite episodes!
Some moments are just so priceless
Even in these Coronavirus times(and yes, that’s in the iPhone dictionary already!) Johnny has me cracking up as always!
Or is it Willie?!?!
I still miss Johnny. He was the best.
One of the top ten best Johnny bits!
The one and only Johnny Carson
Johnny didn't have to go that hard. But he did, and it was awesome. And it's hilarious to see Julio try and keep it together for the whole song.
Julio Iglesias and Johnny Carson were so great. Johnny Carson did a great take on Willie Nelson and of course Julio is just fantastically good looking with a beautiful voice.
How hard it must have been for him to keep a straight face on some of those lines!
He was the best.
Johnny Carson did a magnificent impression of Willy Nelson I wonder what did Willy Nelson think of the impression 🤔 😏 😄 😉 😜 😆
When Willie was on, he called Johnny over and they sang it together. Willie sang Julios part and Johnny did Willie.

My favorite Johnny moment of all time.
Loved it, ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I Cant get enough of this. lol
Amen and Double Amen to that!!!!!!What an awesome Rendition!!!!!!!
I know it is over used, but it was amazing! Thanks for this post very much.
Often imitated but never equaled, he was the BEST! Funny stuff for sure.
There will never be another Johnny Carson!
The Greatest Mr. Carson.......I love you...... R.I.P. Mr. Carson.
Mr.Carson thank you for the fond memories
84? Damnnnnn. I'm old
One of the greatest episodes of Carson ❤
Thank you Johnny Carson & Julio Iglesias :) !!
Julio loved Johnny. Iglesias had a tough time being as huge a hit in the U.S. as he was in the rest of the world. Johnny had him on MANY times and helped make him known.

The Goat of late night talk show.
Awesome! Miss Johnny. The best. (Y)
what an exciting combo ...... absolutely beautiful
I was 9 years old when I saw this show! It was an amazing duet!
Just love this..... Johhny Carson was the master. 😊
Johnny played it straight, too.
Johnny is the best .. he will be missed
Matthew Berg Boy, that's the truth. He was the best. No one has ever come close or ever will.
I know I saw this on Tonight Show, but couldn't say if it was "live", an episode repeat back then, or like a special clip on an end of the year highlights section... it was hilarious then. I would love to have seen Willie react to it...
Loved seeing Julio about to crack up!
Hysterical! Loved it!
What A Legend
The best ever ! !
