you can roof over multiple layers of shingles.. rather then do a tear off I use a masonry blade on the skill saw and cut strips of the shingles off wide enough to place 2x4 purlins. depending on the roof you can save time and the home owner money. you can also cut the decking off at the same time and fasten the purlins directly to the rafters.. it follows code.. you have to be able to access the attic or crawl space to see the roof though... sometimes i use cameras too to inspect first.
Believe it or not I measured my roof for steel 10 years ago, never did anything with it, and got the steel price re-quoted today! My 3 tabs haven't got any better in the meantime. And though the steel price has gone up, surprise- it was cheaper than architectural shingles!

The reason I ask is because the trusses have all been blocked in between at the ridge. Your thoughts?
I would never recommend going over two layers of shingles. It's always best to tear it down to inspect and repair any damages underneath. You can go over one layer, but going over 2 or more is wrong.

We don't see any those around here in my area. I personally have never worked with them.. I would think they're probably one of the better materials out though as far as durability and look.
What can someone expect to pay to pay someone to lay metal? No tear off just lay the metal on 8/12 with no valleys just 2 gable ends. Do you work in Columbus In?

Except for it’s damn near impossible to get a WiFi signal through a metal roof.
you can always do stone coated metal shingles just put them on our house and they look great.

are you gonna video some of it and whats single bubble and how does it help having something to fasten to also if you dont mind how much was that job

I see a lot of these metal roof over shingles that they don't go back with the roof vents. Are they using the ridge as the vent??

We always DC all of those box vents and install ventilated ridge cap with appropriate vent ridge closures

If I have box vents on my shingled roof and I'm going to metal roof, can I get rid of those too? What vent would I use then? Ridge cap?

With your panel count, won't you have a lot of wastage? Nearing the gables, why don't you reduce the lengths of the estimated panels?
