so instead of my regular routine of watching weird reality tv shows, for the past 2 days, I’ve been falling down a rabbit hole of Jubilee videos. A youtube channel well known for popular video formats such as speed dating 20 guys, 10 people rate a person’s face, 6 BTS fans VS 1 secret anti, and much more! A video called Blind Dating 5 Girls Based On Their Outfits caught my eye as well as another video from the Korean UA-cam channel ZAMSTER, which is basically the same format but with kpop idols. Today I’m reacting and commenting on The Korean Gaze VS The American Gaze in terms of fashion. The male and female gazes are a very popular topic on TikTok - thought it'd be interesting to compare the beauty standards of two different countries #edvasian - Розваги

Hi
Bubble guppies
I like this sponsor! Good pick!~ I feel like I'd actually use it someday~~
You look extra cozy and cute with that hair product!
Sure thing Shawty
him rejecting the first girl and her being fucking BEAUTIFUL was so hilarious
Lol I guess he wants a Fairy that Just descended frm heaven..
Bruh she was a straight up 10
I never seen someone that perfect
I mean beauty IS subjective. She's average to me
10 for me
@@gmmartines7331 ma’am nobody asked and please lower your damn standards cuz wth 😂
The Jubilee guy was so threatened by the Canadian girl's height lmaooo. Sis, if he can't take you being taller than him, then it's time to say goodbye
I didnt read it that way at all, he seemed completely infatuated and disappointed he kicked her off. When the girl is blond thin and drop dead gorgeous, guys treat their height as a trophy
He was into her but doesn’t know how to flirt for shit haha
this is so irrelevant but i knew toronto irl and let me tell u she’s even more gorgeous irl 😭😭😭😭😭
The fact that she didn't even back down on it or downplay her height made me crush on her hard.
Maybe he thinks that she had high standards 😂😂😂
As a girl, i can confirm we don't eat or fart. We breathe in nutrients from the air for sustenance 😊💖 /s

Man first dude flopped hard on dirty shoe girl, he should have just walked out after that one lmao. "I like a comfy girl," dirty shoes means most worn, meaning most comfy because they're repeatedly worn, if he was true to his word, she would have been last
yeah, but dirty also means lazy, because u can wash/clean ur shoes
Hot girls have dirty shoes.
Hey, have you ever heard of washing shoes?
@@ClaraGD yeah but like she was wearing white shoes, which can look "dirty" from stains or marks from being worn, even after you clean it, and also she could live somewhere that has that "clay soil" which can and will leave your shoes stained
Gucci sells 'pre-dirtied' shoes (Gucci Screener sneakers) so yeah, apparently dirty shoes are in.
"Don't make fun of a short king”
Would be valid, if he did not put a tall queen on the spot about her height.
This!
Preach
And stop making girls and women insecure about everything , from their bodies to their age to
this guy had such rancid vibes.
"see how fast they turn on you??" when she just pointed out that he's shorter than her?
"how many men have you ghosted in your life?" because she wore ripped jeans?? 😭😭😭
Yeah, the way he replies definitely gave me "nice guy" vibes with those casually misogynist comments that show he's bitter about women. 🤢
Hopefully all those girls steered clear of him. 👍💖
Incel vibes
Honestly, he was the one that started this height talk. If he did not want to hear her comment on his height, why did he comment on her height?
@@pinkmoonjuice5158 I disagree. That was straight up incel vibes. Nice guys don’t explicitly say stuff like this. Instead he would’ve tried to make the women feel at ease with him by complimenting them and acting like he was on their side, but at the final stage it’s revealed that he was scoping out the girls and trying to see who the hottest one is so he could choose her at the end. Nice guys are sneaky like that. Incels on the other hand act exactly like the American guy did by being upfront that they think women are a certain way based in arbitrary traits like what they’re wearing, and feel threatened whenever a woman threatens their male ego by either being taller than them, making more money than then, not worshipping them, etc.
@@Makjaoiuewhxkjs Because he wanted to weed out anyone who threatened his male ego. Incels love doing this.
I feel kind of weird that the first guy kind of just tried to tell how that blonde girl looked by her shoes expecting an average girl but then he just got smacked in the face, but with the other girls you could tell he felt disappointed, but just tried to hide it. Really says a lot about someone don’t you think…
Man's had high expectations and got let down HARDDD
@@aurora_boketto7746 he was a let down himself tho so
To be fair what are you supposed to do, especially in the first round when you only see the shoes? They also put a limit on the time and amount of questions he can ask in one round. So you see the shoes, you ask 1-2 questions per person and then you eliminate someone.
I do think he could've asked better questions, but I guess if you have to make up something on the spot while you have limited time, it becomes more difficult.
I definitely felt the disappointment in his face when he saw the girl he chose VS the blonde girl he was clearly physically attracted to
When the final girl came out 💀

it's unexpected right!?

Omg, this made me burst out laughing.
Ah yes the floor is floor type energy 🤣
The first girl from Toronto had the best style and her shoes worked with her look.
She was cool, but out of the five (?) I'd say she definitely didn't have the best style. She was probably three overall in my opinion.
Those shoes were an absolute nightmare lol
@@jeagerbomb_ nah she had the best style out of all of them her top goes well with her hair, pants and shoes, the rest looks basic street wear fashion and one girl just wore a overall and the next just mash bunch of stuff together that doesn't goes well together
@@WinniePooh33 personally I think her style was extremely basic and bland, which is why I put her as three. I like street fashion so it's only natural that I prefer the others, but everyone has their own opinion. Also, just because you think something doesn't go well together doesn't mean it's not cute, everyone has different tastes and I think each outfit suited each person.
@@jeagerbomb_ definitely liked her style the most, she had such a cute shirt, plus street fashion is a bit boring to me haha
The Korean one definitely felt like non-sexual objectification.
In that it's meant to be based on their fashion, the Korean guys were weirdly focused on their body parts, instead. Like the hands and having a 'small face.' I think that's the biggest difference between the two. The American guy was asking them questions about their life to also get a gauge on their personalities. But, the girls in the Korean video were only asked questions about their appearance.
Sucks, because I really LOVED all of the outfits that the girls were wearing in the Korean one. So, I was hoping their fashion would be discussed a little more.
True! Except, very often in American videos like that they ask personality questions not to come off as shallow and then do a very shallow thing by choosing the hottest person at the end anyway. 😂 I love that Koreans are still respectful but upfront about their priorities. Even if those preferences are super specific and unusual. :)
@@annasin90 i felt like that too
Ngl tho the personality questions that the American guy asked were really off-putting for some reason. If a guy interrogated me like that I would be happy to not get picked by him. At the end I felt like all of the girls came away with a bad impression of the guy choosing. The whole exercise in both videos was essentially to judge someone based exclusively on their looks. But honestly I felt like the Korean video came at it in a more honest and playful way, where it just seemed like a fun game. The guys were very polite, and tried to distribute their compliments evenly. Plus all of the focus on "body parts" as you say was really centered around trying to extrapolate what the people looked like without being able to see their whole body, which is a natural thing to be curious about in an exercise like this. I think it also makes a difference that the guys were idols, and therefore can't display any really personal interest in the contestants that might seem legitimately attraction-based. But because regardless of whether it was the American version or the Korean version, the videos are inherently shallow, I actually found the straightforwardness more appealing. The weird "outfit AND personality" smokescreen the American video had going on just ended up emphasizing the way that he ultimately favored the thin, blonde, conventionally attractive white girl, regardless of who "won" by surviving the eliminations. I also kind of got a "solidarity from mutually disliking a guy" from the girls at the end of the American video. "It's giving 'mommy issues'" sent me lmao. Also no shade towards the first girl from the American video. She was very sweet, and had a nice outfit. Honestly I think she dodged a bullet by being eliminated first asdfghjkl
@@blu4get I agree with your take on the Korean videos - a playful, fun dating game. The editing is funny. XD Interesting that you say that about the guy. A lot of people noticed his “interrogating” questions condescending and weird. Maybe it’s just me but I personally found him very respectful, and the condescending questions funny. 😂😂 And that’s coming from the most offended and sensitive person like me, lol.
That’s why we Koreans do a lot of plastic surgery. especially on face.
the hair style? the fit? I'm loving the energy we've created in the studio today
My jaw dropped, no joke, when the girl from Toronto walked out. I can't imagine the disappointment of letting that go. But at the same time, girl could do better just saying. I didn't see much in the guy, at least from what we see of him here.
just because they get paired up doesn't guarantee that things will workout after the date or that she'll like him back tbh; so it really doesn't matter
They can still talk to the contestants after the filming ends 😂
Jordan Adika also watched the American version of this and....yeah, the guy really didn't have much going for him, at least from what was shown in the video. He was super awkward and asked very weird questions. And the girls seemed pretty put-off by the way he acted. It was overall just a very awkward interaction to watch.
He's attractive but has the personality of wet cardboard
The first guy has bad fashion taste, but he expect to get a girl with a high fashion taste. Imo the pretty toronto girl is lucky because she didn't has to date someone with bad fashion taste.
Ngl part of me loves this American version cause it's so low budget. The way the girls are all hanging out back there and laughing instead of competing. Living for them all ragging on his 'fit
But he's considered bad for not liking their outfits? The double standard with Americans is so weird. No wonder American men don't like American women
@@GyeongmiBaeb if you want an American man I’m sure one will date you 😂😂 we have plenty
@@GyeongmiBaeb that's fair we're getting a lot of your Korean men anyway
@@JC-dz3iq you're definitely not 🤣
@Thirdguy fromtheleft is that a complete sentence? That's not me prejudging anything. That's me basing my opinion off what I see. Facts don't care about your feelings
They judge people by their bodies more than they like to admit in the American videos, regardless of the outfit theyre wearing
@@calyyygrazie8 that’s not the point. The point is that American contestants act as if they were not picking their final choice based on the body type vs their actual outfit.
@@calyyygrazie8 otherwise, yes, Korean dating videos are the epitome of shallowness but at least they’re upfront about it as it is the premise of the video. :)
exactly. they just arent honest about it because it will make them look bad. its just hypocrisy
@@golbinnom cultural differences, I guess. If Americans WERE honest, they would be torn into pieces by the audience. 💀
@@annasin90 yeah thats because the audience is hypocrital as well. they enjoy watching those shallow dating videos but then pretend they're above it all. its dumb as hell
I like how in the Korean version they wait till the whole outfit is revealed to pick which style they like the most, while in the American one he just eliminates one by one, even one just based on her shoes alone.
That’s just how the game works
For me it's: Fuck the appearance, tell me your personality and your dislike and likes!
I'm into authenticity and how the person views of themselves
@@amanekaze I never said I cared what people think of my physical appearance. I just don’t like the way I look on a phone or camera. It doesn’t look like me.
That’s the point though.
So I've watched all the Korean dating ones from Lookgating and when he said "if she says anything about Ariana Grande I'm gonna donate my kidneys" I was like better be prepared to donate them🤣
Me too! I was like, "you do NOT want to make that bet." 💀

Well. He already knew that ahead though. You have to watch the Material first before you film a reaction. Otherwise your wasting time cause you gotta edit that in after
im in love with the girl from toronto. doesn't like drake, dresses like THAT, and roasted him about his height? ma'am your hand in marriage please
So he's wrong for not liking her shoes, something she can control but it's ok for her to talk about his height, something he can't control?
@@GyeongmiBaeb well he was the one who had a problem with _her_ height first so he lowkey deserves it tbh
@@ahassett37 he didn't though. Have you seen the actual video? He asks about her being 6'5 or whatever he said after she talked about how short he was. He was complimentary before then but she did like most bitter single people do, insult someone who's not interested in them
@@GyeongmiBaeb no he was like “you’re so tall” and she said she was 6’1 and then he basically called her a liar ._. he was an ass to her first
@@GyeongmiBaeb no, she reacted like a lot of tall girls when guys who are lying about their heights joke (or ‘joke’) about how the girl must be taller than she is because he’s 6’x” or whatever. It’s a common cliche for tall women
All these women were so cute and dressed so well.
In the Korean version, at least they were working with idols. The American one was so awkward and I doubt he would have had a chance with any of the women.
Also it was sort of hilarious watching him nitpick their looks when he was dressed like he just grabbed whatever seemed cleanest off the floor.
@@ILMC_AMS it's cause he WASNT even judging their looks. he just kept trying to be like one of those zodiac girls by believing he can know their whole personality by how they dress.
@@empresssloth2962what about the Korean boys? They also were picking parts of the body over talking about the clothes
What I wonder with all these videos. DO they get invited and know that they will appear in a video, maybe even the topic, or do they just get picked up on the street?
The korean channel has a lot of version with non celebrities too
Some guys throw on a chain or two, then pretend it makes them fashionable.
As a member of the female species I can confirm we do not eat nor fart, we all made a pact the day we were born to only feed of the souls of our enemies
"Species" Girl you got me crying 😂😭
I am also a member of the “female species”, separate from the species known as Homo sapiens, aka humans
Can confirm, we do just feed on the souls of our enemies. Personally I struggle to make enemies myself so I just meal share with my bestie by declaring all of her enemies my enemies.
one difference I noticed between the two is how the men react to eliminating the women, the American guy instantly went passive aggressive and started commenting on height when he realized he made a mistake, while the Korean guys instantly started praising the people they eliminated in order to soften the embarrassment for them (like complimenting the Russian woman's eyes), they reacted a lot less awkwardly while the American guy seems to not know how to talk to women unless she is flirting, almost as if the two Korean dudes had a lot more experiencing rejecting people politely than the American
Any guy that's a Drake fanboy is a red flag
AGREDD
I watch the Korean version from time to time and I've always wondered what their responses would be if they had more darker skin tones of both women and men on there like for example a deep tan Korean or someone from Thai, blk ppl, and Indian
They would probably give them superficial compliments just to be nice but won’t actually pick them. And if they do it’s probably for the video content than them actually being interested. I just find it so unlikely for Korean people that fit the beauty standard, to go and pick someone outside their race (unless they’re white.) That’s just the reality of things, they might find them pretty but not be attracted to them 💀💀
@@kas_ualties7692 facts
@@kas_ualties7692 you cant really say that though, alot of koreans are attracted to darker skinned people, especially because they're kind of "rare" in korea, by that i mean they're considered more "exotic", similar to how americans were and are liking asians more, because they're "exotic".
@@user-nf5hv8dp6w I doubt, if the black person is mixed yes they tend to like, but if not..

i blame it on capitalism
He ONLY saw shoes. It just happened so he liked them the least out of all. Stop being that dramatic
When being tall it's already hard to find good shoes that fit 😭
Another thing that might add to the physical details of the Korean guys' commentary is that they r kpop idols. The hyperfixating could be learnt behavior because of unrealistic beauty standards imposed on kpop idols in general
Americas beauty standards are no better if we’re being honest .
@@persephon3639 I'm aware but I lack enough knowledge to comment anything useful about it. Got any insights?
@@persephon3639 Yes they are. People don't actually go outside in America worried about how small their hands are. You can't even get a job in Korea without having a professional picture attached to the resume. It's literally all looks over there. If you wanna compare Asian countries, use China. Korea is literally notorious.
@@persephon3639americans are much more accepting regarding skin color and body type. Americans also dont hyper fixate on things like head size or shoulder angle. Does that mean america doesnt have a toxic beauty standard? No. But theres clearly a bigger evil here
Both the shows in the end made me drop my self esteem way below it already was. All those girls looked beautiful. But seeing the they are usually being judged in both cases made me feel anyone who sees me in real life may freak out because i am way below anyone's level.
Lol i hate these kinds of shows cause it just confirms to me that ppl are actually judgmental about and factor in the things i cannot control (: hence why i also stopped dating 😃😃😃 social media age has made it almost impossible to feel comfortable in your own skin when dating someone.
This is confusing because your appearance has always been important when it comes to meeting somebody for the first time, like you wouldn't go on our first date or to a job interview and jogging pants and a sweatshirt

I have to say, I used to watch jubilee in my freshman year of high school. But then as I grew up I realized that jubilee just wasn't it. Everything they do seems really fake/inauthentic. I do currently watch Look Gate on Zamster, the Korean one. I actually saw them use the format of the blinds first. I actually still really enjoy their content. It still seems very fabricated and of course the participants are only there for exposure, but I find that the people picking are often a lot nicer about their opinions on the clothing, they are eloquent, you can tell they are having fun with it, and they do get their assumptions right many times. They are much better at picking up on details that may imply something about a person. Also, I've noticed that the fashion they wear is pretty much usually very different from one another for the people under the blinds. Even if they all have a similar style, they all have a pretty good variation in the way they emphasize one thing over another on Zamster. And the way the contestants are revealed at the end is much better in my opinion as well. Whereas, from what I saw in the Jubilee version, the styles were mostly all some chunky shoes, variation of jeans, and trendy top. They are for different audiences, but I generally think Zamster does a better job at making it fun to watch.
Exactly, zamster had been doing it way longer and better
I watch Cut I find more authentic than Jubilee but I'll check out Zamster.
Zamster is definitely focused on the fashion it’s just a fun and wholesome show!
Definitely. I even found it odd that no one was pointing out that Jubilee "stole" their idea.
@@oreochocolate_lavacake9960 Oh, well technically I am not interested in any of Jubilee's other content that is more social experiment-y. That just isn't the entertainment I look for, so that's why I I stopped watching anyway as well. If I ever want something more in that genre I might check out Cut like you said. Thx
I like the Korean outfits BUT all of them look like they could be worn by the same person. Like it's the exact same style but with different items.

RIIGHT SHE WAS SO CUTE AND HER VOICE WAHH
LITERALLY OMG she was adorable!!!!! And seemed like so much fun
As a girl, no we do not fart.
For me the Korean one is just funny, like they don't even care to get to know the other person, they just rate their outfit and how it looks on them. It's really surprising that at the end is like "lets date" because they didn't even know anything about the others. Also they show before the rating starts, the photos of the female and male candidates and they choose the ones they like more, and you can clearly see that does photos look really different from the real people
"I think we had scenarios like that in the 1600s" 💀💀
The winner gets nothing and the losers get a permanent confidence debuff... actually the winner gets the worst date experience of their life.

12:49 besides the few alt fashion outliers, almost everyone dresses the same here in Japan, ESPECIALLY in the winter time. Summer is a bit different story.
And it seems like those girls are happy to fit in, right? Although there may be some pressures to always buy clothes for trends, I can’t see anything inherently wrong with it. Japanese clothes in general are quite famous for being good quality and having beautiful designs.

Idk how to explain this. But in my country, among young people there are two very popular styles. People either have a very American style or a very Korean style. And as someone who doesn't really follow fashion trends strictly, it's pretty interesting to be on the outside looking in.

Gosh that first guy had (in my opinion) literally no taste in clothing. The girl with the overall had such style, cool and comfortable but also confident (pretty much what he described he wanted... and then he went for the more business-like and possibly most boring outfit). Also why didn't he ask these women about CLOTHES ? And appearance ? Like, the topic of the video ?! For example why would they like trousers over skirts, or what they want from a pair of shoes...
