Great simple idea. I assume cut depth can be altered by rotating the guard. Can i suggest a spring to allow the base plate to hold in place and return after pushing down.

So many adaptations could be made from this too eg. attach an angle iron to the underside of the sled and clanp the angle against the piece of metal to be cut off in a bench vice....... 👍👍👍
