I have the Enya Feather in the natural color, and I absolutely adore it! I got it about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have found it difficult to put down. Haven't touched any of my other ukuleles since then. The tone is lovely, and it's just really really nice to look at while playing it. This one is, by far, my favorite.
Really like the natural version, fretboard isn't too glossy on mine. Early model? Who knows. Also swapped out to low G this weekend and love it even more.
Yes, been impressed with them. Not doing the norm and not resting on laurels like some established brands I could mention. Flight are impressive for the very same reason.
How about that......this I think, is the ukulele I wasn’t looking for that I really fancy. I could see playing this beauty on stage. Thanks for getting my drool going, Baz.
A lovely axe and an interesting build. The effects, when unplugged seem a bit like sci-fi to me:--I don't fully understand the tech--but they sound good. This is two weeks in a row with reviews of intriguing instruments, and where as you acknowledge, you go on about an instrument you like. I'll speak for other viewers and say we enjoy watching you enjoy a fine ukulele. Keep them coming.
It’s beautiful and I love the fact that it is shaped like the Nova U. Transacoustic is a nice feature. I still play my Nova U. Sounds nice acoustic too :)
That's a beauty! I started playing on the Enya EUT-MAD in that same blue, and still love it. Older model and not as loud, but it's absolutely ethereal sounding and one of the most stunning ukes I've ever seen. It's a joy to see how the line is evolving with higher end models. The volume on that feather is impressive. My one concern is how I would ever humidify that model during the dry winter conditions here.
@@GotAUkulele - Lol. Enabling UAS is a beautiful thing. XD Was checking out some of your other vids while debating if I want to get the new Nova U Pro tenor as a travel ukulele for car trips with my family. I always seem to come away from your reviews with so many ukuleles that I would love to try that I didn't even know existed before seeing them here. That's how I found my primary workhorse ukulele, a Kremona Coco with a low G and fluorocarbons. Love it to pieces, and it has such a different sound from my reentrant Enya.
@@FenrirInFlowers I find myself apologising to many people for the same thing! Trust me - there are LOTS on the channel where I would save people money too!
I have a Nova and love it. Enya has made this shape not only look beautiful but sound great. The neck is also a little longer then most concert sizes. It is almost a tenor neck. I feel it when I practice using the Nova one day and my Luna Sahara Spruce concert the next. I am liking the nova shape more and more. I really like this blue Tenor one....DOC
It's ok, you can do an extended demo anytime you're enjoying the uke of the week😉 I love the look of it and enjoyed the dry acoustic sound. On my end, the effects left a lot to be desired. Effect without plugging would be a major part of my decision making process for any soundwave / acoustic plus / trans acoustic instrument. Thanks for the review!
Great review and I've been waiting for this one from the pictures you've been teasing. It sure is a head turner. I wonder how this one compares in sound to the E6 made of maple? That one is more expensive, but it is a different wood and has more decoration. I do enjoy Enya instruments and purchased a Nova in orange based on your review. I'm sure I would like this one too.
This was already on my wishlist, and you've confirmed all I've hoped for it to be. I'll be saving up. In the meantime, a satin finish to the fingerboard would be delightful. Now that I've got the Diana concert Soundwave, I would enjoy a bit more punch from the on board effects on this one, too, to justify a second transacoustic for my small collection. I can see your enjoyment of this instrument, and that means a lot!
NOOOOOOOO! Not another one I want to buy... I really love my Enya M6 in blue. It was love at first sight when I unpacked it. And the feather is soooo nice. Normally I would like to buy ukes from different brands to try out. So I'm having an eye on the Ortega Hydra as I have no tenor yet. They are hard to compare, but at that price I can't buy both of them. Your opinion: feather or hydra??
In South America, they build charangos il the same manner. The neck and body are carved from one piece of timber and they drop a top onto it . . . it'll never need a neck re-set.
The classic look of ukuleles e.g. Kamaka, Martin, will never go out of style. Methinks this will look dated in pretty short order . . . like 70s tuxedos.
@@GotAUkulele The Stratocaster was/is an original, the epitome of form and function and the classic look of an electric guitar along with the Les Paul of course. Great review! Thanks Baz. I am still searching for a decent baritone uke with a Soundwave system ( or similar like the Enya). I know Flight do a Soundwave baritone uke, but a certain excellent ukulele store has told me they won't stock them as they are not up to standard - not the Soundwave but the uke itself. Maybe I'll end up asking a local luthier to install a standalone system into a baritone uke of my choice.
The reflection of your yellow light onto the blue really makes it look like a Navi from Avatar. Ok, bizarre question. If you were to block the sound hole would it become silent? I ask because i do silent practice on an electric snail but the neck is too narrow. I bought a sound hole cover for my acoustic ukulele hoping it would make it silent, but it really doesn't
I use a daylight setting on the lights. No, it wouldn't become silent, but there is a lot of mythology about sound holes - they are not actually there to make sound - the sound comes from the vibrating top. The holes allow air to transfer in and out to allow the top to vibrate more freely. So if you block it you still get the top vibration, just not as much.
Right, I left a comment and deleted it as something made me go back and look again . I love the way this sounds but I'm not keen on the sound hole or the inlays, but that is personal preference and matters not a whit! Here's my question ; has that got a radius fretboard? it perhaps looks like it ?? I dont know why Ukes dont go down this road ... Most players aren't doing tone bends and with other instruments such as guitars and mandolins they are standard to varying degrees and give a much better feel and grip when fingering chords . This is where my ignorance shows.. Why not make a 16", 12" or heaven forbid a 7" radius Uke fingerboard. Please excuse the 'Off topic' comment . Cheers Baz for another great review
I do get asked this sort of question a lot, but actually have a policy of not giving recommendations or determining a 'best' uke. Not me trying to be difficult, it’s just that it’s really subjective and different for everyone - we all hear and play differently, but also people have their own preferences on looks, scales, features, decoration etc. What I can advise is that you look at the full review list - www.gotaukulele.com/p/ukulele-reviews.html and look at the scores. Anything 8 out of 10 or above gets a recommendation from me one way or the other. Higher the score the better. BUT - higher is better only in MY opinion - you may find differently! Hope that helps
It's gorgeous, except for that glossy fretboard. For whatever reason, my brain associates a glossy fretboard with cheap unless it's maple. Glossy maple gets a pass in my brain, probably because of vintage Fenders.
I do love the look but wish they would either match the tuners to the color of their Ukes or just have them chrome. The orange takes away from their classy designs, I think.
Just saw/heard about this uke yesterday and found it here in China for $200... I'm trying not to buy it. I have a MAD that I already love and a Lava U that I put red strings with a low-g. I've fallen for that one now too since the string change... Why does this thing have to be so good looking? At least that glossy fret board has me turned off a bit. 😀
Not my thing really as the styling is very much a matter of taste and it sounded a bit thin to me unplugged. However, there's no denying that you do get a lot of 'tech' and a nicely made instrument for the money.
I actually saw a comment almost just like this on the Lava U review and did a double take. Interestingly, same user 1 year apart. I am no fan of Apple business models or "designer" stuff in general, but if you say it like that it really doesn't mean anything.
