Fron-ker-sulth-te :) Crossing the Chirk aqueduct is slow because its so shallow unlike Standedge which is relatively deep. There is mooring along the stretch leading up to the lift bridge (just before the mini aqueduct).
Well done Emily on getting across the aquaduct, it is after all a stream in the sky! I have to applaud Benny on his amazing steering skills. He gets that boat through narrow spots and tight turns like he was born to do this!! Love you guys!
Wow!!!! That was amazing. I love your videos, music and moody little Allen. Every time I watch, I think to myself, "What a tremendous life adventure and memory you guys are making. This is living life in the bloom of youth's prime." Blessings on your future adventures! Thanks for taking us all along! Food for thought- you have enough high quality videos to canvas boat companies to sponsor you proper boat lighting, I thinkl😉🧜
I am not surprised you reached 10,000 because you both have a relaxing, laid-back approach to boating; even when things go wrong, you always seem to see the funny side of the situation. Music is good also.
I think Benny needs his own cooking UA-cam channel. I want to see how he makes his bread and all the other wonderful things that he makes that are vegan and vegetarian. I need that in my life. I also wanted to add that your videos just keep getting better and better. The marriage of Benny’s music and the scenery and everything is just so perfect. I hope you three have a wonderful holiday!
Hello You Three - greetings from Poland. What a fantastic video. You've excelled yourselves this time. Huge ups and down. Poor Emily and her vertigo, very quickly followed by Bennys incredible loaf of bread. The look of utter satisfaction on Bennys face having crossed the aquaduct was a picture. As was Emilys face standing underneath the same aquaduct, looking up to where she'd just crossed over on the boat. Brilliant! Many congratulations on reaching 10,000 subscribers. To be honest, it doesn't surprise me at all. You three are incredible and bring so much fun, laughter and entertainment to your channel. You are amazing people with the most famous canal cat in the UK. A Very Merry Christmas to the three of you. See you again very soon. Stay safe please.
I did that same aqueduct over twenty years ago now and can still remember it like it was yesterday, it’s one of those experiences that you’ll never forget…… enjoy Christmas 🎅
Merry Christmas from Maine, USA and thank you for creating this channel!! Love Benny's music by the way...very calming !! Also the bread looks delicious.....well done Alan!!
One correction I'd like to make regarding the construction of the aqueduct. It is constructed with cast iron and stone, along with magic and pixie dust. Its the pixie dust what holds it together.
We love that we are not the only members of the bad welsh pronunciation club! Love all your variations 😂. This video has to be the most honest we have seen of the aqueduct experience. We finally made it to the basin and loving it so far. Safe travels to you all and hope our paths cross again soon ❤
The boat would have been completely sound there overnight, I'm always fishing along that stretch day and night and nothing goes on, Llan is a lovely quiet village with a great community spirit 👍
Just found you! Wow I'd have been on the floor with you Emily, (I should rephase that!?) that aquaduct was terrifying! Luv the vids, so peaceful and calming. You two are great and so connected. I'll be watching all the vids from now on.
Hi guys .. just discovered your Channel .. from what I’ve seen your vlogs are full of drama and fun ..so subscribed .. lEmily your not alone suffering from vertigo ..my legs go like jelly too ..not to mention the dizzy head …so absolutely knew how you was feeling over the scary but magnificent aqueduct.. enough talking and time to binge watch the rest …
It is our dream to get a narrow boat I watch several videos to keep my dream alive and encouraged love nature love scenery etc sunsets all of it snow makes it harder I guess but possible I think found you on my page yesterday. Watch a few now we will get there nice vlog style 😊
Just came across your channel today when I learned of the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct (thanks to an article on the new Wallace & Gromit release, lol!). Very intrigued by your charming lifestyle 🙂 Returning warmest Christmas wishes but it's now two yrs on from this clip so, my best for 2025...I'll be lookin' for some more of your adventures; cheers!
I know how you felt, Emily. Been across the Aqueduct on the tourist boat from Llangollen and was fine in the cabin looking out. However I tried to walk across on the walkway a day before but only managed about 5 metres - just knowing there was no guard rail at the other side of the water freeked me out totally.
Hi guys great job of the today. I’d of been scared going over that bridge too. Horrifying if u hate heights. Bless u Emily I’m with u. Good job Ben is brave. Can I have bens recipe for sour dough please? It looks amazing xxx lisa xx ❤😘
I am just the same with heights can't even look over a pier wall where boats come into the harbour and what's worse my inner ear balance and vertigo can make me fall over so I understand how terrifying it is!
Great Vlog! The music was great especially at the end with Alan’s picture. Emily thank you for not editing, the part on you sitting on the floor, out. I see many people, including myself can totally relate. I have done the same thing on our old sail boat when things got rough….but I also sat there screaming. 😳 You were calmer than some Vloggers have been. Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers 🥳🎈🍾 Well deserved. I don’t think I will ever be able to listen to someone pronounce the name of the aqueduct without thinking of the variations the two of you came up with. Alan of course took it all in stride. Merry Christmas to both of you! 🎄🎅😊🤗 Kathy
Hello from Australia where I’ve never seen a canal or a narrow boat. I’m a recent subscriber and I’ve only been watching you for a few weeks. I hope a canal boat holiday is in my future even more so after watching this episode, my favourite yet even though I’m dreadful with heights as well Emily.
Absolutely love following your journey. Thanks for sharing the scary moments too. Have a lovely Christmas and stay safe out there. Look forward to the next video.
I’m completely with you on the aqueduct, Emily! I’m terrified of heights too, so would’ve been the same! 💩🚽 And there’s Benny, as cool as a cucumber! 😂 Merry Christmas to you both and little Alan! Have a wonderful one! 🤗🌻x
Photos from the bottom of the aqueduct waaaay worse for me than going over. Emily you are braver than me - we have a cruise booked for September and actually dreading Chirk more than the Pontyscillt. I do not do heights but will turn my back on the unguarded side and should be ok.
Discovered you guys alongside "Narrowboat pirate" when researching Llangollen canal this week (we are doing Whitchurch to Bryn Howel and back next weekend). You have made us so excited about our trip..... and slightly terrified Emily!
Felt your anxiety building up there as you approached the aqueduct…well done both of you. It’s so impressive looking at it from below….you really get a sense of the scale and majesty of it….boy could we build stuff back then. Merry Christmas to you two…and Alan xx
Emily, I think of you as fearless! I’d be in the bottom of the boat, at least you stayed outside. Benny and I have the same hat, lol. Bloody cold in the USA right now and I’m wearing mine too! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
I feel you on crossing the aqueduct, Emily! I hate driving across really large bridges, I would probably be the same boating across that aqueduct. However, I'm not really scared of heights, just driving across bridges. I could walk that tow path and lean out over the edge and look down no problem, but I'm sure if I was at the rudder, I'd be freaking out the entire crossing lol. 🤷🤷
Shiiite that was scary - I'm with you Emily. I wish I knew what causes fear of heights - if they can put men on the moon, why haven't they worked it out, and invented a pill that us sufferers can take. Hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas!
Froncysyllte is pronounced vron-cus-silcht-teh with a 'ch' sound in the silcht bit. I think if you had walked, towing the boat with a rope across Chirk aquaduct it would have been faster than the engine! Happy Christmas and New Year to you three.
Ok a year later, but I just discovered your channel. I’d found a photo of the aqueduct but knew nothing about it as I live in New Mexico USA… At any rate I love the narrow boats and if I lived in the UK I’d be on one full time… Thank you for sharing and I subscribed as well.
Now's a good time, to tell you, that the vast iron trough segments joints. Are sealed with flannel and tar :-D . The joints have to redone, every few years, that's when they pull the drain plug. It's amazing sight, to watch the water, running out from the bottom of the trough.
Emily girl your to yin,you were getting vertigo, try stocking up with some snacks, your on a canal boat, things don't run like clockwork. Brought back good memories of travelling around on a barge, your very lucky, have fun. I hope Ben gets to empty the toilet waste and doesn't suffer vertigo carrying the thing.
Have a brilliant Christmas you two, ;-) I mean 3 (Alan) Enjoy Llangollen, When we visit Llangollen we always walk the canal to the aqueduct and back, lovely place, have a guden
I can fully understand Emily's reaction to the Pontcysyllte aquaduct. In my youth, many years ago, I walked it with a group of hikers, but I couldn't today - vertigo has kicked in and I would have spent the crossing inside the boat!
Hello Ben & Emily . watching from Philippines in BILIRAN we always watch your video even my Husband he really love it he said hope he meet you in person this year .. and also me I hope next year
Hi to you both. I really enjoyed your latest episode going over the Fron aqueduct to Trevor. I thought Emily was very brave to do so. When I was very young my mates and I used to go from our village in St Martins down to the canal and borrow a school canue to go up to Chirk Tunnel (which we called the “Darky”), carry on over the Chirk aqueduct and on to the Fron aqueduct at Trevor. It always felt like an adventure because none of us could swim, although we told Mr Fisher who looked after the canoes that we could. Years later when I was working at Acrefair, before they built the new road, I would travel from Oswestry to Fron every morning, taking the old lane which took you underneath the Aqueduct and up past Trevor into Acrefair With Ben visiting The Mere at Ellesmere it took me back to when we used to cycle there as kids, also to White Mere, Coal Mere and Blake Mere. I used to live for many years in Oswestry, so it was lovely to see Emily have a wander around the town and Whittington. Thanks for bringing back happy memories for me. May I wish you both Merry Christmas (Nadolig Llawen) and a Happy New Year (Blwyddyn Newydd Dda).
In case no one has mentioned it, the llangollen has a river partially run through it. So as you enter Wales you are literally running against the flow.
Pronunciation advice: Emily, your pronunciation of Pontcysyllte at @6:45 is very good (Ben's early attempts were funny, and although he improves a bit by @10:30, he'd do well to listen to /copy yours 🙂). Pontcysllte - Pont-cuss-ull-teh (for the 'll' sound, try forming the shape of the 'cl' sound (place tip of tongue behind front teeth, against the roof of your mouth and give a slight blow). To pronounce the name of the adjacent village of Froncysllyte (@4:40 in the video) try similar to that above, but replacing the Pont with Vron saying "Vron-cuss-ull-teh". "Butternut squash still winning"... that was funny! I am loving this journey of yours. And the music is just beautiful. May a Robin sing to you on Christmas morning. Nick
I do remember Schwarzenegger in the log carrying scene! Thanks for the look from under the Aqueduct as well. First time for that! Merry Christmas to you both. I hope you'll do a little more music in 2023 too!
I have just watched this one again, it was even better, I’ve seen several vlogs of the aqueduct, and that’s the best, the walk down to the river really gives the viewer the scale of it, but they way you both react so differently to the crossing is great.
I went across the aqueduct almost 40 years ago, when I was a youth! I still have nightmares about it!! Thank you for the vid,,,,we enjoyed it so much! Merry Christmas from Japan.
Oh my god what a great pair you are, your brilliant together just the right mix of silly versus intellectual,I hate to say this Emily but I could tell you were scared going over the Aqueduct but you made me smile ,, Anyway congratulations on reaching a good following fingers crossed I am sure you pair will soon exceed that number. Fron-ker-sulth-te :) Crossing the Chirk aqueduct is slow because its so shallow unlike Standedge which is relatively deep. There is mooring along the stretch leading up to the lift bridge (just before the mini aqueduct).
More to the point, there is a massive flow along the Llangollen as it is a feeder for places further down the Dee valley, so you are fighting that.
That cat the best face ever he she lovely ❤
Wow! Excellent loaf of bread.
The bit I always remember is the feeling of the trough flexing slightly if you bumped it with the boat.
Well done Emily on getting across the aquaduct, it is after all a stream in the sky! I have to applaud Benny on his amazing steering skills. He gets that boat through narrow spots and tight turns like he was born to do this!! Love you guys!

Having struggled over those viaducts, we your supporters, deserve your cookbook pretty please.
😄❤️
That many subscribers should not be surprising - you two are very watchable 😃. I subscribed after only one video. Stay safe🦋
Wow, thank you! :)

Glad to hear it, yeah it is really nice there isn't it : ) It is a hard one to pronounce, no doubt about it! Yes I'm sure we will! 😊❤️
Emily just stand up and up you well be fine and don't look down
The boat would have been completely sound there overnight, I'm always fishing along that stretch day and night and nothing goes on, Llan is a lovely quiet village with a great community spirit 👍
"This has to be one of the slowest entrances to Wales that anyone has ever made!" Brilliant, Emily! Wonderful video, as always!
Well done Guys I was watching from behind a cushion, been over that a few times and still get cold shivers thinking about it
Just found you! Wow I'd have been on the floor with you Emily, (I should rephase that!?) that aquaduct was terrifying! Luv the vids, so peaceful and calming. You two are great and so connected. I'll be watching all the vids from now on.

As someone who gets a little wiggy going over bridges, I can only imagine how scary that was. It was also beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Watching ep27. Loved your reaction to crossing the aqueduct. You were very brave well done 😂
I’m completely with you on the aqueduct, Emily! I’m terrified of heights too, so would’ve been the same! 💩🚽 And there’s Benny, as cool as a cucumber! 😂

Hi! new to your channel and love it!! my stomach went a bit funny watching you going over the aqueduct so I' not surprise you had to sit down Emily!!
Great video. I don't drive over high bridges so I think I would have flat lined over that viaduct! What is that hand sculpture at 18:07?
..and to the coolest cat on the canal ! ღ♥ღ¸
I can simpify with Emily and the effect heights have.
always look forward to your Friday offerings. festive cheer to you both and Alan
Felt your anxiety building up there as you approached the aqueduct…well done both of you.

Nice Tunes! You need a big "Bonzo" drum in your mix. Beautiful Xmas song at the end 23:08. Many thanks and Merry Xmas.
Bravo, Ben; chest out - you've got a really vibrant, lively, beautiful, bold, adventurous lady by your side. Best wishes to you both, always !!

So jealous! Can't wait to tackle this one day!
Enjoy your vlogs. Merry Christmas. Looking forward to 2023. Enjoy
That was a sane reaction to that aqueduct! I would have been laying on the floor with my eyes closed
Years later when I was working at Acrefair, before they built the new road, I would travel from Oswestry to Fron every morning, taking the old lane which took you underneath the Aqueduct and up past Trevor into Acrefair
With Ben visiting The Mere at Ellesmere it took me back to when we used to cycle there as kids, also to White Mere, Coal Mere and Blake Mere.
Well done guys !! Love ya both ! Jay Xmas xxx
Great video , the soundtrack , the footage , the emotion , that's why you have 10 thou subs , thankyou 👍 merry Christmas from aus
Diolch yn fawr iawn a pob lwc
(Thank you very much and good luck).
"Butternut squash still winning"... that was funny!
I am loving this journey of yours. And the music is just beautiful. May a Robin sing to you on Christmas morning.
Nick
LOVE, love, love the flogs. Van and boat life takes for ever! sometimes? HIGHTS not always your best thing! Well done! Honesty is good, it's a life!
This was great, shades of Rome's auqaduct glory.Long live Britain!
The Christmas tune at the end is something to be proud of Benny. 🎄🎶🎄🎶🎄🎶🎄🎶🎶🎶🎶👍
Congrats on getting 10 thousand viewers , Just think Emily you have to make the return journey over the Viaduct ,OH JOY, !!!!!!
I do remember Schwarzenegger in the log carrying scene! Thanks for the look from under the Aqueduct as well. First time for that!
Merry Christmas to you both. I hope you'll do a little more music in 2023 too!
Hehehe! Thanks for watching 😊
Merry Christmas. Thank you and very enjoyable music too.
Ten thousand down one hundred thousand before we know it!
Beautiful video as always!

Wow you are so brave I would hv a melt down of fear.
Wow to the aqueduct giving me kittens think my hubby would drive there tho ( I no )

Love the walk at the end! You cat always looks so pissed off lol x
Really enjoying your vlogs, so cool seeing you around my home village.
Went on that stretch a few decades ago …truly memorable …….I think I did the Anderson Lift on the same holiday…could be wrong
Just love you two so good together
Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year
Wishing you both a Merry Christmas and give Alan a big cuddle and happy Meowmas🎅🏻❤️🙏
Merry Christmas to you and Alan.

Merry Christmas! 😊
