Don't buy a folding e-bike until you've watched this video!!!
In this sailing boat life video we buy a folding ebike for less than £400 and put it through its paces to see if it's fit for boat life!!
Can you buy a folding ebike for less than £400 that's worth having aboard your sailing boat? Watch the video to find out.
This is not a paid advertisement, this is just us, sharing our journey with you and so if you're thinking about buying an ebike, you'll get to learn from our direct experiences.
The bike we purchased was the E-plus city folder for £399 from Argos (sorry any non Brits who may be wondering what Argos is).
*********Our Updated Filming Kit for 2020!!************
In an attempt to make sharing our journey more pleasurable to both film and (hopefully) for friends, family and well, just anyone who wants to watch, we have upgraded our old filming gear, which to be fair was really basic, mostly an iPhone 6, plus a cheap point and shoot camera. Oh yeah and the drone, the drone was always awesome, come to think of it :)
New Kit List:
Canon EOS 90D (DSLR Vlogging Camera): amzn.to/2EUeEUt
DJI Ronin SC (Stabalising Gimbal for Camera): amzn.to/2QmmsDN
Go Pro Hero 8 Black (action camera): amzn.to/2sbxFPA
Mavic 2 Zoom (Drone): amzn.to/2PTgqLQ
Feiyu G6 (handheld go pro gimbal): amzn.to/34WYPqB
If you are thinking of buying any of this kit and then do so through these links then that will help support Hanks red meat habit. :)

Love you guys! Humour, modesty, honesty... everything that makes a channel stand out. I've been watching all your videos up to here, and have long ago subscribed, but this is the first time I comment. Keep up the lovely footage!
Thanks, Ray, very kind of you to say. We're just happy that people enjoy watching, anything after that is a bonus.
Hope you're well 🤞🙏🏻⛵️
Hey that thumbnail is epic....
Congrats on your first year of ownership and many more to come!
Thanks, Daniel, we can't believe how fast a year has flown by! 😱
I think someone forgot to put electric parts in your bike, I was expecting you to fly up that hill with no effort 😂 This just saved me loads of money, thank you.
Congratulations on your first year afloat! Fair winds to you.
Cheers, Nick.
Just bought 2 Raleigh folding ebikes for the boat. They are superb battery lasts around 20 miles I’m 100kgs very good up hill. The only problem is they are £1200 each. Hopefully you can find what you want for a lot Less. Good luck guys.
Awesome! I am guessing you also have a 250W motor. Do you happen to know what Ah your barriers are?
Sailing Cadoha yes 250 watt with a TranzX 250wh 36V 6.8Ah Battery. Not sure what it all means but they reckon they are good for 30kms. I’ll let you know when do over 20k. I looked long and hard It’s a mine field I guess you get what you pay for. Good luck and love the channel.
It’s called a Raleigh Stow-E-Way Folder
Gary Williams interesting its only 6.8Ah and goes that far. Perhaps the volts play more of a role than I realised?
Congrats on the first year! I’ve got a folding (non electric) bike that I travel around with on my little 1972 Grampian 23 cruiser. Top tip: sew up a Sunbrella bag (like many of the better bikes come with) to contain the bike in its folded state. Once it’s contained like that, it’s easy peasy to carry it around by the handle of the bag and move it to/from storage areas or to/from the dinghy. You can even hoist it by a rope into or out of the dinghy if you want. The bonus is, the Sunbrella bag protects both the bike and your woodwork/upholstery from damage. Win - win. It’s definitely worth getting a substantial bag if you sew it yourself or if you have to pay extra for an “optional” bag from the bike retailer. It makes it soooo much easier to stuff it into and pull it out of tight storage spaces.
Love your videos. Cheers.
That's a great idea, and I'm pretty sure carly was looking for an excuse to dust off her old sowing kit 😬😱
I suspect your subs numbers will be increasing soon. Each video is getting better and better. Great drone work also. Has it been a year already? I was there for your first. Glad to see you’re still plugging away at it. 😜😂👍👍👍
Thanks. Yes it was a year to the day, which we only realised because we had an email from the insurance company telling us that we need to renew our premium 😂
Happy 1st year. Wife & I love your channel.
Thank you, and glad to hear it! 😁😁
Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary of Cadoha! Another great video! Being from Philadelphia I did like the Rocky shot from the movie of the Art Museum steps. Oh ya and the beer too. Cheers to all! I also loved the prints on the wall.
Thanks, Chuck. I've been waiting for the perfect moment to include a rocky clip 😬
Why do you need an E-bike at all, you’re in your thirties, not your eighties! 😂 Come on guys, put those glutes to good use! 💪🏻
Ha ha, I was inky a matter of time before we were shamed 😂
Great video. I'm going to show it to my wife to justify why I paid £650 on a Bafang 750w kit with 48v battery and converted my old folding bike 😁
That's fair, ha ha, buying cheap can sometimes really mean buying rubbish 😟
@@CadohaAdventures When all you're allowed in your country is 250W, buying FAIRLY cheap (£740-£1000 or less) can be fine.
@@BelfastBiker I’m sure it can, we bought for £399, and it was total rubbish. For a child or maybe a lightweight person, perhaps this has some utility, but for a grown man, it’s useless.
Dom, when you cycle, use the ball of your foot to push on the pedals.
Roger that, will give that a go next time 😬
So glad I found your video as Argos have them in stock at what they are saying special offer at £549 but after watching this I think I’ll skip it, I’ve a long term back problem and was thinking of trying out an ebike for some sort of exercise but I’ll just keep looking. Thanks again guys, you’ve saved me a bundle of notes!
No worries, and if it helps, they sent me a second one, in case the first one was just a dud. It was equally as rubbish.
I have used plenty of great ebikes though, I think unless you can build one yourself, then it is a case of getting what you pay for.
We still don’t have one ourselves
I can't quite get to grips with an ebike - extra weight and drag and the hassle of charging. Surely a light weight folding bike is the answer for storage, manoeuvring and uphill riding. Just think of the health benefits! You're also possibly looking at big money for a suitable ebike. We've looked at Tern and the Chinese Sava looks promising, but there's very little about it online. Congrats on your first year though. Roll on spring!
I keep wondering what the dog is thinking about all this? I see him watching closely half expecting him to burst laughing.
For the most part I think Hank just judges us 😐
Excellent information👍 Glad they took it back! 👌
Happy 1 year anniversary! ⛵💕
Thank you ☺️
At 55+ I don't think I need to spend money to tell me what kind of shape I'm NOT in. Thanks for saving me a buck or two.
Ha ha, glad the video may of been some help 😁🍻
You need to get one from the US because honestly the 250 watt limit you guys have is fine if you weigh under 100lbs lol. I am 195 and I need something with a little oomf to push me up those steep hills and at least 20 miles lol.
Yeah I'm a similar weight to you and am thinking I need at least 500w
@@CadohaAdventures I am still shopping around myself, but from what I have interpreted from watching a few hundred hours of youtube is for our size (your lovely wife being as thin as an elf, she can ride a cloud of air.... we need horsepower lol. Being able to get the motor around 750 watts will climb hills easier. Here in the US a real popular one is lectricebikes.com/collections/ebikes/products/lectric-xp-pre-order-for-august and it peaks out around 800 watts so it climbs hills nicely. I might buy this one and just mod it with front shocks, and add mirrors to see behind. Best of Luck!
The bike comes with a bag (£40 xtra) and that all goes on my bow .120waterproof bag at the stern and me in the middle with an 8ft sail! brilliant fun down the Trent, even in winter.ps just started watching your vlog and it's been fun so far.cheers
Thanks for the info, cheers Simon, we were only talking today about getting another bike!
Just imagine if all tests where this truthfully and funny. 👍
If we were smart we would of given it a glorious review and then inserted our affiliate links, ha ha. But, we're just sharing what we're up to, and if we don't think something is good, we'd rather just say, so that anyone who follows us doesn't make the same potential mistake :)
I love the chin up, aloof expression that Hank puts on his face; priceless. Nice one again guys.
I have a 500 watt Electric folder that will take me a 215lb. man easily 15 plus miles with little effort. but it cost $1000 US dollars. Any bike under that will most likely be rubbish. Enjoy your channel am a new subscriber. That's why the comment on an old video. Am kind of binge watching right now.
Thank you so much for the review 👏
I bought a folding eBike called the SeaGo from Force 4 they’ve got them in Decons Bursledon. It was almost twice the price but it is great. The motor is on the back wheel and it also has 7 gears. So you can drop down to a lower gear when going up hill as well as using the electric assist. Range seems to be very good. I have never managed to exhaust the battery. It is heavy at around 22Kilo’s but I can lift it over the rails onto the boat ok. It has a waterproof bag so I strap it to the foredeck. My boat is only 26 foot. So putting it inside is not really an option. I don’t live far so if you want to try it out I will bring it over.
I bought one and haven’t used it. Except for once and it is powerful. It was £500 from Ideal World. From memory it goes about 30 miles but would have to check. Open to offers if you’re interested. I could give you exact model and electric specs, it is folding also. I haven’t got the confidence to ride it anymore as I’m 60 plus. Had it few months so in shed had no weather or anything on it, just as it came out of box. Shame really.
Yes by all means let us know the make and model as we're still keen to get a couple of bikes and so will continue the hunt. 😬
Sailing Cadoha ok I could send you some photos, is there a way to do it on here? I’ll get my husband to get the manual and I can send the full details through. Anyway. Annette
Have a look at full spec on Ideal World eLife Tourer 6sp 24V 250W Folding Electric Bike with 20inch Wheels. Mine is a deep blue I think you will find all the info there. Let me know if you’re interested as we could arrange shipping at our end. Thanks Annette
Pennybobbles will check it out, thanks 🙏🏻
You win some and you loose some.. That's life.. Congratulations with the first year ownership.. I have been following you from the beginning and enjoyed it a lot..Thanks for this episode, I know these bikes are hot in Europe (I am avoiding the word the EU) but smaller foldable bikes like Matt and Jessica (MJ Sailing) are using seems to be very handy..
We will have to take a look and see what they're using. Thanks for the heads up 😁
@@CadohaAdventures You know they are moored in Plymouth (UK) for the winter..
US Antigoon I didn't know that, no.
@@CadohaAdventures I just n noticed they will be vacationing somewhere for a few weeks.. So check with them..They have done quite some nice sailing. From the US all the way up to the Norwegian West Coast. They are from my State, Michigan...
Enjoyed the video guys. I would return that bike tbh
Great minds, Peter, we did, and luckily they took it back without making a fuss 😬
@@CadohaAdventures That's great, delighted for yee! My heart went out to yee when u said how much it cost.
I want to see the video of how you get the dog up the ladder! :-) Doggie boatswains chair and spinnaker halyard?
We will be sure to include that in the next video then 👍🏻
One question you were not able to answer was how the bike fares in a salt water environment. I wonder if any of your readers can answer how their bikes do, especially the electrical connections. I have a folding bike and it has no issues with the humidity, salt, etc. and it has been over two years now. On the other hand, it is not an e-bike. Thanks for your review. These are very helpful and entertaining!
That's a very valid point and I'm not sure to be honest. Do you have any issues with say your chain and sprockets etc, do they need to be lubed up more regularly than usual due to a salty environment?
@@CadohaAdventures I was very surprised but no, I haven't had any real issues. Occasionally I spray my chain and sprocket, but I do that with my regular Trek mountain bike. I would be surprised if I spray it with WD-40 more than twice a year. Usually it is in the late autumn and early spring. I actually have more issues with needing to put air in the tires (Tyres for my friends across the pond. And maybe down under?). I add air at least once a quarter. Part of the issue is the heating up an cooling down during the course of the day.
@@PanzerDave That's interesting, but also encouraging to hear. Only having the bike for a short time didn't really answer all of our longer term questions I guess :/
@@CadohaAdventures I was also very encouraged also since the bike was not very expensive.
I've got a volt metro folding ebike with xtra large battery.its expensive but worth it.i use it with a folding mule Raleigh trailer and put my seagle 17ft inflatable kayak with a week's worth of camping gear in it.took 4 years save and organise but is well worth it.
Is Hank your first Velcro dog? We have had ours for 7 yrs now and appreciate him dearly!!!! Sleeps in the bed, under the covers, where he likes it. Thanks for the input of training Hank to potty on a boat, can you make a video with more details that got him acclimated to potty on a boat? We are working to sail and training the "red dog" is a must for us to sail.. Thanks and I'm new to your channel, keep up the good work!!
He is indeed our first Vizsla, and as far as potty training went (is very much still going), it's an uphill struggle when he can see that he can get off, but eventually he does go, but it's not his first choice.
I considered this a while ago and came to the conclusion that an electric unicycle is the best choice. There is a learning curve to ride them though
I'm way too clumsy for a unicycle 😂
@@CadohaAdventures the electric unicycles are very very different to the conventional type that automatically springs to mind. They are semi self balancing and your feet are only a couple of inches of the ground. It takes the average person about an hour to learn enough for basic driving
As fun as informative. You guys are great!
Look at some of those Elect scooters. Hear they pretty good.
So many people have mentioned them. They make sense for lots of reasons, I just have to get my head around it 😕😂🙄
I would have loved to see you carrying Hank up onto the boat!
I'll be sure to include it in the next video as there's a few people who want to see the system we're using.
Good heads up on the bike. Guess you do get what you pay for but interested if you find one that does what you want. Congratulations on one year of ownership and here’s to many more. Btw I was out this weekend on my boat, damn cold and getting back to Emsworth today was wet and windy. Much better ashore... Andy UK
How did you get Hank onboard on the hardstand? Much harder than those ebikes I'd say!!!🌬⛵⚓😎🐕
Nit at all, Hank just climbs onto my shoulders and almost hugs me when I tell him to 'get up' and he only weights 25kg so it's not too heavy 😁
@@CadohaAdventures I saw Hank clinging to Carly as she carried him down the ladder. My Kandi is 28kg but there's no way I could do that lol He's such a character and adds a lot to your videos.
What you told me was...... You get what you pay for.
My sailing 73 1/4 year old crew mate has 2 of these things. E likes his toys and doesn't stint. Mk2 is a 27" (or something) big wheeler that goes all day and miles. Mk1 is a small wheeled version that he has twice loaned me to wobble about after him when there's no wind. I haven't got any either I'm 65 and was 16 last time I pedalled (but at least I learned what bit of my foot to use!). Anyway I need significant help and his Mk1 that hadn't cut the mustard for him enough seems great.... Haven't stretched it on a cross country mountain track though.
A very interesting test... great very objective. 👍🙂 no excuses pass / fail.... 👍🙂
Exactly, on to the next one 😬👍🏻
Despite that fact that I am closer to 70 than I like, I think I will stick to a regular pushbike. Electric bikes, in general are ok at the moment, but give it a couple of years, new/better batteries are hot too far away. Probably by then I will need the assistance of an electric motor!! Entertaining video. Clearly you both are enjoying yourselves and that is the main thing!!!
You're just putting us to shame now, ha ha.
We are having fun and you're right, that's the main thing. As soon as it's not fun anymore, we will do something else 👍🏻🍻
Ebikes can be a problem. Depending on where you go the laws are always drastically different. Some places here in the US don't allow them at all. We are going to buy the Zizzo Via folding bikes. They are typically legal wherever you go, and honestly typically the pedal power is enough to get a person anywhere typically. You can afford two Via's for the cost of even a cheap e-bike. The Via is between 20-30 lbs ish, and carting it up to a boat isn't as bad as the average ebike with a battery and motor to lug around as well. To boot the Via has a lot of stainless components so rust is at a minimum.
Allyn Onderdonk yes the rust issue is certainly worth thinking about, will have to check them out.
I have noticed Argos keep selling some of these E-bikes for half price or less..I think that is because they are crap, and people keep returning them for a refund. And then they get fixed and sold for half price. And then Argos think they won't be returned again because they were only bought for half price.
A classic example is the E-Plus CH22. I could be wrong about this though..But from your review this might be the case. It could still be another year or two, before they get them right.
nice to know, thanks for the info, I was actually looking at the very same one for my campervan for the missus to use, think well stick to the scooters, for the time being
My experience with a folding ebike: bike is a Dillenger Opia v1 several years old; good ride; very good range; light load carrier; skinny 20” wheels/tyres so a bit twitchy compared to bigger bikes; good exploring bike in urban terrain. I like the bike.
Pain in the arse getting it down below on the boat; bulky to stow; and never really liked having it aboard. Not too bad moving it on, off and to/from shore on the dinghy, but it gets old fast and I’d hate to do it over several consecutive days.
Overall - great if you’re marina based for doing groceries, exercise and exploring; not great if you’re traveling about and mostly on the anchor. It’s the getting the bike about the boat and stowed that’s the worst of it.
Bromptons (non electric) would be better but way too expensive (and ugly). For cruisers, walking still seems to be about the best solution. Electric scooters look a bit useless to me for the cost and weight, and I’m too old and clumsy for an electric skateboard 😁
Nice I was thinking about an e bike or e scooter.
Hopefully this is of some help then :)
Though super super expensive. The one id recommend is a Brompton.
After the amount we've just spent on mast work, I think any chance of a Brompton will have to wait until next season and some more work 😂😳
Is that the church at the old Netley hospital and the foreshore? It looks very familiar.
This could be us not knowing the area all that well, but if I remember correctly, we were riding the bike around the royal Victoria country park. Does that sound like the place you're thinking of?
@@CadohaAdventures Thanks for the reply. I thought it looked familiar. Yes that's the place. Known locally as Netley Hospital Chapel it's official title is the Royal Victoria Chapel. The hospital was completely demolished back in 1966 leaving only the church. It was built in Queen Victoria's time and used until the mid 1960's being used for returning injured servicemen from many wars. I seem to remember being told that Florence Nightingale hated the hospital and said it should be completely redesigned.
Best wishes to both and thanks for another good video.
Time Bandit I feel like I need to actually venture in there now and have a look around!
Always love a bit of local history 😬
Great review and saved me some cash for sure
I recently saw a vintage photo of a postman in a cart being towed by a dog. I'm sure Hank could produce more than 250W... :)
You may be onto something there 😂
You two are funny!
Don't forget Hank. 😬
:) I rea;;y enjoy his comments but he was quiet on this video. He is a smart dog and just stayed far way from the bike. There was no way he was going in a cart attached to it.
Ouch, can you return it? I would try as it is not fit for purpose. Worth a try
We returned it yesterday. Thankfully they didn't put up any argument what so ever. So we can't fault their customer services at all 👍🏻
@@CadohaAdventures Good old Argos
Im interested to know what you ended up buying, and how steep was that hill?
The hill was probably close to 45 degrees and we never bought any bike in the end as there doesn't seem to be any on the market, at the required legal power output that can get a 100kg man up a reasonable hill. Add to that the idea was to have a large back pack full of shopping and that would likely come to 150-160kg total weight on the bike, and would stand no chance. I think the engine would need to be several times more powerful.
Checkout Bolton e bikes video on 10 things to know about ebikes. It's super explanatory and straightforward. If the bike you bought is descent quality you can upgrade your engine to a 750w, 48v and have a good bike.
I don't know if it's just because I've not fallen in love with the bike generally but I'm not sure about paying to upgrade it, I'm not sure the build quality is that great either to be honest, although I'm no expert, just get that vibe.
We are thinking of buying an electric scooter or a boosted board for space and weight savings
I saw another guy around 40ish on a boosted board. For some reason I think I can get my head around that more than I can a scooter, although they're not cheap. I think I'd have to go for the all terrain tyres :)
Sailing Cadoha Ya, most islands dont have smooth roads
@@maryetdave yeah that's where my head immediately went to :)
I know boat people, none of them need to use a ladder to get on their boat. Bizarre.
Also the power of that engine, 250W, is the UK legal limit (and most e-bikes are equally 36V) so forget getting 500W or 750W units in the UK (unless you want to go through an absolute hassle of treating it exactly like a moped for licence, registration, tax, certification, and insurance purposes.
That hill gradient is also not what 99.99% of people will come up against.
And if you're getting 2 miles range on a 7.26Ah battery, you have a faulty.
Yes all fair points, we’ve knocked the e-bike on the head, we got another battery and it didn’t do much better (at full power) I think because I weigh 100kg, I’m on the upper end of the scale for a bike like that, a 250w motor just isn’t man enough to move me. We rented a couple of e bikes in Spain and they took us about 20miles and got me up some serious hills with ease, but I never looked into the specs of those bikes at the time.
As far as needing a ladder to get on the boat, we anchor a lot and our boat doesn’t have a swim platform, so the boat is about five feet off of the water, so you can only get on with a ladder, different models of boats are simpler, if they had a sugar scoop swim platform perhaps, but these old school, blue water boats, tend not to have them as often.
I brought this bike 3 weeks ago from Argos and it cost me £550 - it gets me to work and back which is about 3-4 miles total - the pedal has chewed through the threading, the motor is now gone on it - I am fuming as it's my only way to get to work - 3 weeks use is appalling - if you have any advice on what I can do other than taking it back or perhaps a model that's better at a similar price id be very greatful
The dog appears to be wondering "what the heck are they doing now".
You're probably right. Hank generally seems to find us bizarre and often looks to be judging us. :)
I’ve never ridden, but often wondered about, these folding bikes, e- and otherwise. Does the folding aspect really save that much more space than just popping off the front wheel, the handle bars, and the seat? (Which can be done in seconds with the right setup.) I’ve always thought the folding bikes, with their teeny wheels, must be quite hard to peddle.
I mean it depends what you're comparing it to. For just nipping into town or to the shops it's honestly fine and not hard to ride, the folding aspect does seem to save space for sure, but it'll never be comparable to a road bike for speed or a full frame bike for comfort, there are a fair few compromises with it.
Hilarious video 👍
How well does it perform as a stern anchor? 😏
It'd probably excel there as it's so heavy 😂
... why an e-bike, a brompton plus a little exercise is all you need :)
I just hate hills, Charles, there's no more reason than that 😬😬
Sailing Cadoha ... I live in Norway, so can understand your motivation for an Ebike (they are really popular here :)). Lived and spearfished in your part of the world when I was a schoolboy, so seeing it now adds an additional dimension to your channel. Keep up the good work :)
congratulations on 1 year anniversary, does hank run on duracells lol
Whatever he runs on , if you could bottle it, you'd be a billionaire. He's always so full of beans! 😂
I get 25 to 30 miles on a battery charge on my Mario Retro 68 E-Bike with out peddling at all. Just using the throttle. Video is on my UA-cam Channel.
Cheers Bill, we will have a look 👀
@@CadohaAdventures I love the bike and it was money well spent. I will be doing more videos on it as now I have put over 500 miles on it, and A lot of fun to ride. It goes about 25 to 30 MPH I do not have to peddle, and I get 25 to 30 miles out of it. If I do peddle I can go a lot farther on it. It has Throttle only with 5 different motor powers, and 6 gear setting giving you 30 different options for the terrain you are on. So you could go right up a mountain with it with no problems no matter how steep the grade is. I have 3 E-Bikes, and by far the Mario Retro 68 is best by far. Next bike I am looking at is the Onyx Bike that can go 60 MPH, and go 75 Miles on a charge. That may be my next one, but at a price to pay. I also have a Super 73 That is nice for the wife as she is short and fits her better and I am happy with it as well. Has about a 15 to 20 mile range though, but still good for sailing. Top speed on it is 20 MPH.
Ninebot max e scooter…… 30 plus miles range. Easier to store etc
I wouldn't buy an e-bike only because it has a lithium battery which bursts into flames when damaged or shortcircuits. Which is more likely in a corrosive, wet environment.
how about an e-scooter? they are smaller and folded it takes much less space than an e-bike
Valid points, I just have to give one a try I think 😬
Hub motor bikes are terrible up steep hills. A good mid drive will do pretty much any hill you want easily.
You bought the wrong bike for the test.
1. Frame must be aluminum. Total weight 16< kg.
2. Front fork must be with shock absorber.
3. Electric motor must be set in rear wheel.
4. Wheel cover must be about 3" wide and with ofroad protector.
5. 250W electric motor enough for 20" wheels.
6. Accu must be in frame chases and have more then 10 amp hours (min range about 20km with only electric and 60km with assistanse mode).
You get what you pay for when it comes to e bikes to bad cheers guys
Yes, I think you're right 😕
Get a couple of S/H Bromptons.
I don't know about you, but putting that bike and taking it off would seem a lot better with a boom and javit. That is long enough to take the bike off the deck and place it on the dock, and vice versa. If you're planning on manhandling it on and off, then I can see why you'd be very reluctant to handle it....
Thats got to be a dodgy battery. They should run at least 15 miles on the lowest assist mode.
We got a replacement bike and battery, same results again 🙁
expensive trial and error :-( congrats on 1 year anni'.
It's ok, the company took it back yesterday 😬👌🏻
Good job they took back because it's less use than a £400 paperweight
Firstly never mind an ebike get pedalling ya lazy youngsters 😉 My wife and I are, and it hurts me to say the words 😬, 50 and looking at normal folding bike options on a 40’ boat. Anyway the helpful bit I was going to say....you may already know it but you can buy folding bike bags which would seriously help in moving them around both above and below decks. It would also protect your varnish and upholstery. I have a 26” wheel folding bike that is like a full size bike when not folded but doesn’t go as small as some. We’re looking to see if we can fit a couple on board. Anyway my initial ribbing was meant in good spirits. We’re just down the coast from you in Poole setting off in spring next year. We’re not fully UA-camd yet but check Facebook for “Follow the Bear” and insta “FollowIntrepidbear” and maybe we’ll catch up with you sometime. Oh and happy boat anniversary 👍🏻😊⛵️
We probably deserve a bit ball busting for not wanting to peddle up hill, and to be fair, it's me being lazy, not carly, she loves riding everywhere!
We're planning to set sail in may and we're now looking to head to the Med via the French canals, to be kinder to our dog as well as enjoy a decent amount of wine and cheese, you know, before all that spear fishing, sun kissed bodies and healthy living malarkey 😬
You young people seem well suited to a ‘Boosted Board’ (See Casey Neistat’s NY vids).😀👍
Good review, I know it was too good to be true... I reckon this bike is only useful for ppl who live in flat areas
Just from the sound of that bike going by it is a POS even without the motor on it. In my experience you can't cheap out on a bike if you want quality.
You're not wrong. You certainly get what you pay for with an E-bike 😳
cmon folks ,, no surprise there at all ,,, you gets what you pay for ,,, you really want to be paying about 800 second hand for something decent ,, all bikes are the same , a good new bike is near 2 g , lifting on and off , use the boom or spiniker pole as a derek .,, oh and happy anniversary ,, brrr , remember those cold dark days in PD !!!
You're not wrong, Roddy, you're not wrong. Hope things are good your end.
How's the cat coming along, any closer to setting off sometime soon?
@@CadohaAdventures been q lucky work wise filling my pockets ,, maybe something else starting soon if i can be bothered "" cat is just sitting quietly , like a coiled spring !!
roderick mchardy the crouching tiger of cats, ha ha.
How long before we see you putting the world to rights about these English gits, down in the Med on her then, Roddy?
you need at least a 400w motor - if not a 500w one. You can get them from China for about the same price as you paid for this.
Yes I think the bikes we rented in A Coruna must of had bigger engines and more powerful batteries. You may be on to something here.
well the view was very nice at the list when Carly was riding hank was having a good time but for me get your money back just walk, I saw someone with elect scooter here's a link you can watch they seemed to work very well for him on a sailboat he had covered and tied down on the deck ua-cam.com/video/1gqCyl-Y29U/v-deo.html sure you could shop around
Yeah there's a lot that kind of makes sense for an e-scooter, size, ease of storage, ease of loading and unloading etc, but I just struggle to get my head around a middle aged-ish man (me) and a scooter.
I don't quite know why, but it's like seeing anyone over 30 wearing a baseball cap backwards, it just seems....... well, wrong?! 😬
@@CadohaAdventures but you pull into a port your tired need food looks dont matter at that point make life more fun give you something to joke about
Get an E Scooter, in fact get two. Easy to store and transport .
There really are so many valid arguments for an e-scooter, I just struggle with the idea of riding one as a grown man. Maybe I need to make an effort to get over that 😂
Buy a Gocycle
I've not heard of that make, will look into it though. Cheers :)
wow smh
get to the point
Don't buy the bike 😁
Come on stick with human leg power. It will be better than all the cost and energy required to manufacture that toxic battery. Your beautiful dog looks like it was made to run on its own paws. Congrats on 1 year👍👍
Ha ha, someone else in the comments has actually planted the seed in my head about hooking Hank up to the bike somehow and using him as a motor.
The cogs are turning in my brain right now 😂
Ohhhhh....... you bought a bicycle. I really thought you bought a new boat. Your bloody accent,,,,, Can you start speaking in American English. not the proper English "English" version your speaking in.....
Just saying. Nice vid.....
I'm not sure I even speak 'proper' English. I can just imagine my granny up in heaven shouting at me to pronounce my T's 😂
