    Thanks for this video. I’ve had my 1up for about a year. Saw this video a week ago. Just finished installing the reverse side plates. Game changer. I wish I would have known about these earlier.

    I'd like to add my thanks for putting out this video. Exactly right for my JKU with a 35" spare on the back. I can confirm that everything he claims in the video works out exactly as he said. For reference, I got the single carrier plus two add-ons, have a factory hitch, Rockhard aluminum bumper, and the spare is on the Teraflex HD rear tire carrier. All three bikes sitting nicely on there right now.

    Genius!!! I’ve been looking for months for a bike rack that will work and allow me to open the tailgate and get to my fridge in the back of my truck. I found like you all of the racks are oriented in the upward fashion never thought to call one up thanks for making this video

    I would have just fabricated a bracket to mount it on my tire carrier and that’s it . You have the perfect tire carrier to make it work .

    Although I did not need the reversed side plates, I did need the hitch extender to clear a 37" tire. I LOVE this bike rack. I had the Quadratec for about a month and it's quite good for the money, but I wish I would have known about this before ordering the Quad. Great rack!

    Great video & product, I bought the reverse side rails for my JL. It works great for a mountain bike but for a drop bar bike your bars will hit the spare tire unless you have it hanging out on the bar side. The set up i ending up using is a 2 inch drop/rise hitch adapter an standard rails and rear door clears and opens up all the way. Also you can use 2 inch rise and reverse rails if you want your hitch higher .

    Thanks for this video. I've had a 1up rack for years. They are the best. However, I just traded my truck for a JL and I was so bummed that my rack interfered with the spare tire. This video SAVED ME! Flipping my side plates and getting the extension tomorrow.

    That rack is rad. My dad has one with 4 mounts i love how it slopes up as it goes back. I use a Thule T2 because its cheap. It is also very heavy.

    Just ordered my 2" super duty single yesterday with the reversed side plates..... $65 up-charge for that but it should be worth the $$$ for the extra clearance. Thanks for the heads up on the option. Surprised 1up doesn't promote this more.

      Agreed. I had to cancel my order and am waiting for them to refund me to re-order. Had they had it listed, would be sooooo much easier. Should be a disclaimer for Jeep Wrangler owners to do this. Less hassle. But the customer service there isn't responding to emails about my cancellation, so... I might just go over and order the Mach 2 if they don't get back to me.

    Do you think the standard side plates would work on a stock rubicon with the tailgate open with the tire on and clear the rack with the bike off ? Or would you still need the reversed side plates.

    Great videos! Question: I have a similar issue. My 2002 4Runner has a swing out with a 35" spare. The distance between the top of the receiver and bottom of the spare is about 3 inches. The spare comes out about 14" from the face of the receiver. Do you think I could get away with ordering a regular side plate Super Duty single? I imagine that I would need to use a 12" extender with whatever side plate orientation that I choose. I have a full length swing arm and an upward opening hatch. So no matter the situation, I would have to dismount the bikes from the carrier in order to open the rear hatch. I am fine with that. IF you were not trying to open your rear, (or in my case, my rear) hatch, would you still order the reverse side plates? Thanks in advance.

      That's a real good question because I just got my 1UP Equip-D rack and it's beautifully made. However - there is one big problem I have and it's the "Security" lock hitch pin. IT'S COMPLETE GARBAGE!!! The shank is so thin on this thing it's ridiculous. Fit a pipe over the lock cylinder for leverage, pull and that thing will snap off like butter. Because of the locking ball in the hitch, the slot in the hitch had to be offset downward so you can't use the full diameter of the hole in your receiver for a thicker pin. No way around this apparently, so the pin is absurdly thin to fit through the receiver holes and offset hitch slot. Very worrisome and disappointing design for a rack this pricey. In fact, the new Equip-D Hex bolt is not even a security hex bolt like the one here. Just a regular hex. That's my only complaint, but it's a big one!

    hey thanks for the Vid, you motivated me to get the same rack for my jeep, but question does your rack wobble at high speed? mine does pretty bad, i have an extender to clear the rear tire, i have two bike carriers and made sure i always tighten everything before i drive away.

    • @dustingrimnes5580

      My 1UPUSA rack is really solid, even while driving offroad. I'd suspect your hitch extender is the problem.

  • @chrisraistrick5355

    great video as always quick question i get that you can lock the rack into hitch but is there something built in that you can lock the tire ratchet so bikes cannot be removed from rack ?

    • @donyvette3496
      @donyvette3496 Рік тому

      Yes, 1UP sells pin locks similar to the one shown for locking rack to the hitch extension in this demo. The pins utilize the unused holes on the two ratchet bars. They offer several lengths of pins in case you go with the FAT TIRE option to widen the ratchet bars to accommodate wider tires.

      @o3djeeps  5 років тому +1

      @193001 kiplssd I just checked the website, and you can get 4 bikes starting with the double and adding two addon trays. If you start with the single, you can only add two add-ons for a three bike maximum.

    • @o3djeeps
      @o3djeeps  5 років тому

      Check out the video at @7:10 and you will see there is a bolt screwed in at the bottom. That is simply a limiting bold that stops the rotation at the bottom. In fact, you could adjust the amount of tilt by drilling/tapping/moving this bolt on each side!
