Yay! This is so cool. Mattel is so behind on including a Holiday Ken. The only Holiday Ken I have is the Coca-Cola Santa Ken that came out in the 90's. But that's different than dressing up for the Holidays. Merry Christmas Enzo. Here's to a Happy New Year. 🎄🥂
He turned out really cool at the end! As you were making the pattern and cutting out the fabric, I was like, "noooo, add a seam allowance, It's going to be too small" haha! But I like the way you did it, it's a fun learning process. I'm not great at sewing myself, I had to go through the same learning process. I found several helpful tutorials on UA-cam, specifically for doll clothing that I could recommend: specifically Dollightful has a series of tutorials for not only sewing, but how to make patterns from existing doll clothes. They are very well done, detailed and easy to follow. If you haven't already, I recommend checking them out. Either way, this was a really fun video to watch! And he definitely looks festive. You were able to pull together a nice look for him in the end. I like how you have him styled with the faux fur! And I like the addition of the blushing
what a fun idea! the finishing look is very cute! I dig the vibe. also congrats on your first official stitch!! my tip with sewing is to not be afraid of leaving a good amount of sewing allowance. when I cut a pattern, I usually leave one quarter of an inch around the piece. that way if it's big I can just take it in, it also helps prevent the fabric's threads to fray close to the stitching. overall I love this idea! I hope you make more holiday ken dolls, male versions of past holiday barbies would be fun to see. Merry Christmas!! 🎄❤
I think your Holiday Ken turned out amazing. He's very handsome. You shouldn't doubt yourself in the DIY dept cus you got skills mister, also kudos to your man for being so incredibly helpful sewing machine savvy, I have to hand sew everything because I can't work a machine. Y'all did fabulous... I❤it!
As for sewing, I'm not the best either. I know there is glue for the glue gun that is made to sewing fabric. I use it to hem my pants. I love it! And when you make a pattern you have to make sure you leave space all the way around for a seam allowance. That's my tips. 😊
Great first attempt! There are some books with patterns for Barbie and Ken, perhaps one of the patterns there can be used for right fitting pants in the future. Also, when cutting the fabric, make sure to leave a little extra allowance for the sewing, that will help with the fit after sewing. Lastly, if your machine can do back stitching, it will help so you don't need to use glue to prevent them from unraveling later. Here's hoping Mattel does produce a holiday Ken someday.
Hi Enzo Merry Christmas and happy New Year i am happy i bought yesterday instead of waiting for January 2 to get here my 1970 something Sun Malibu Francie Doll for $5 with no orange towel and no bathing suit 🩱 she is so beautiful and gorgeous her hair is a little short in the back a kid who owned her before me must have cut it but it is only a little bit
He is super cute!! I think he needs a santa hat. 🎅 The blushing is really nice! I love the fur. I really like the pants. I understand they don't fit but they look like skinny pants and he is so festive!!
Some pants sewing tips: give yourself seam allowance. Cut about an inch and a half away from your marked line so you can sew along that line to get a better fit without your piece unravelling. The thermal tape is good for sealing raw edges which you can press down using it. Make sure to give yourself a hem allowance around the waist and the bottoms of the legs so you can tuck and sew those raw edges down. Sewing pants in 4 pieces (2 front, 2 back) allows you to include a closure as well so you can make them more fitted at the waist and helps with avoiding cammeltoe. Lastly, you can always go smaller but you can't easily go bigger. Start out wider than you think if you're worried about fit and work your way in if needed. I hope these tips help! He turned out cute!!
Merry Christmas Enzo :) do you know who's that very handsome Ken sculpt ? I tried Google image search but nothing comes up. Guess the stache was painted on later. Thank you, and I am also big fan of you without the cap 😘
Im sure the are patterns for Ken/Barbie pans online you could use. Pantspaterns are not made like you did, they will not fit in the crotch. And dont put your patern oin the middle of your fabrick, put it near the outline, then you dont wast so much fabrik. But he turned out very nice and handsome.
Hey Enzo, I think he's hot! Great job! Here's my constructive criticism...I would get rid of that white necklace. It's just not sitting right on his chest. I would get rid of it and I'd give him fairly large gemmy earrings instead. My 21 yr old daughter is not sure about my earrings idea. She says maybe bead him a necklace. Anyway, he's great! We like him! 😍😄👍👍

Oh, what doll is that that you started with? Thx!
He's from the 2003 Waltz Barbie and Ken giftset
Next time you have to match the plaid ,so it lines up, but your skinny plaid pants look good
Enzo have you ever come across a She hulk doll (Barbie doll style

Yeah it's a mess but I hope your sewing skills will improve for next Christmas but you did great with the blushing 😊
I'm glad you like the blushing! 🥰
I only sew by hand, and it isn’t pretty. My hat is off to you for using a sewing machine. Those things intimidate me.

This video gave me hoarding anxiety.
