I’m a huge Gene Marshall fan, and collector. I have about 20 Gene dolls, which include 1 Madra (her nemesis peer actress) and Violet (AA, gal pal). I do not have a Trent but am on a lookout. So I loved this review. Thanks for sharing! Trent has some great fashions too, that are less costume / period piece and more of the Golden Age of Hollywood era. Keep a look out for the fashion packs. They are so detailed and great. Also, you are correct. That is the original packaging. They call come that way, except the sticker will change with the character (Gene, Madra, Trent, etc) Hope you enjoy him in your collection! If it grows, please share!

I have the _Formal Introduction_ Trent. I think he was supposed to be patterned after the old movie star, Ronald Coleman.

Gene Marshall is a treasure this line has had a history with it, her world spans from the 1930’s, 40’s and early 50’s old Hollywood glamour, I can send you some links to get more information about the entire collection, Ashton drake released them first, then he went solo for a while then at some point before Mel disappeared for a bit he sold the rights to integrity toys and they did a smaller version of her before they discontinued her during the early 2010’s the IT line is the most expensive line to date the Ashton drake series has lowered in price and the fashion packs that they made were mind blowing too 😊

Got two Gene dolls. Would get more, but they are so big. Also, they have no variety in facial screenings. Actually, the Silkstone Barbies have ribbon ties.

I prefer rooted or flocked hair on dolls. The plastic hair is awful. I never buy them 🤷🏽‍♀️

Defa lucy is too expensive. I'd rather get a Monster High doll for that price or a collector's Barbie.

The funniest thing you said and I don't think it was intentional. Regarding the Aaliyah release, "the bratty way Mattel handled this release" brought to mind the Bratz mean girls debacle. YAY more Calico Critters for Enzo! Thrilled for Allan and some of the Fashionists. I am over Defa and may sell mine. I am interested in the petWORKS boys! Oh boy do I need them all! Soooo…..my gripe with Mattel is this packaging. I hate that the box’s have open cut outs at the top. As a collector…this is going to sit in a box inside a glass case. The idea of dust and elements being able to get into the actual contents of the packaging ….i cannot stand. If dust gets inside…how do I clean it!

I got into collecting dolls last year with MH G3 and have been loving Deuce, Clawd and Heath but it looks like there won't be any more boy dolls for G3 from here on out (which is so sad because there are plenty of male characters they could pick and choose from) Also, when you talked about beard play the idea of a styling head with a loooong beard popped into my head - "comb and braid Björn's beard! Add beads and make him look handsome for his next trip with the viking ship!" haha 😂 (jokes aside, this would be such a cool toy)

I have her and LOVE her!!! I'm a 52 year old Super Fan and my mom is a collector with over 100 Barbies, so I got us both one. Great work on this one.. The Tina Turner doll is still my favorite of this series, with Aaliyah coming in as a close second!

The stud details on the crop top are SO BAD for a $55 doll. Mine is in shipping limbo, and I haven't been noticing in other pictures, but I hope they aren't all like that!

Yup I’ve had many Mattel boxes stolen in transit because of the labeling on the box. This is compared to 0 boxes stolen from unmarked boxes.

I'm patiently waiting for a restock and hopefully availability in Canada. I love the look: yes, the leather. I always wanted a leather outfit in 90s. There was a time when everyone in my area of Canada had leather jackets, and my driver's education instructor had a cool leather suit. She looked so bad ass. The only problem is the pleather disintegration, but she will look great redressed later too. The doll brings back a lot of memories of learning more about R&B as I got home internet and more access to music in the late 90s. So even though I'm not the fan they likely had in mind with the doll's release (white, middle-aged lady from Canada), I am a big fan of the doll.

The doll is beautiful. I missed out of the 1st release but am considering trying for the Target release.

I've had this Ken since he was released; the streaks have always been bright yellow. Love him a lot; he's so unique! I also have the vintage face Barbie from this line with the orange hair. Love her too!

Aaliyah was really talented and her life was cut too short. I'm glad the doll sold out, but I would have bought the doll if it was her notable acting gig as Queen Akasha in "Queen of the Damned." The costume was iconic and was her last real notable performance. This doll to me was adequate . Good episode Enzo.
