    In this episode:
    By mid-1944, the Second World War escalates into a battle of apocalyptic proportions across its various fronts. On the Pacific islands, thousands of Japanese civilians died during the intense clashes between Japanese and U.S. forces. Desperate kamikaze attacks by Japanese pilots attempt to reverse the course of the war. In Europe, the valiant uprising of the Polish resistance is ruthlessly crushed by the Germans, who carry out mass executions of civilians and leave Warsaw in ruins. As they retreat before the advancing Red Army, the Wehrmacht leaves a path of scorched earth, razing entire regions without mercy. Neither the Volkssturm (People's Storm) led by Goebbels nor the last-ditch offensive in the Ardennes could halt the impending collapse of the Third Reich.

    Thank you for posting, a new series that was done as best as possible with censorship. Perhaps the original cold be bought, I have quite a few that were released on dvd long before Y.T. better to post rather than not to see anything at all.

    Of course it was horrific that 600,000 German civilians died from the Allied bombing campaign, but here's a question that puts those deaths into some perspective: How concerned were those German civilians about the 30 million or so fully innocent civilians whom the Wehrmacht and the SS had m*rdered?.

    I can't believe that Japanese civilians were jumping off cliffs as the Americans closed in. This series has been very good, thankyou.

      The Japanese Military n Government Leaders told the Civilian population that the Americans would kill..rape..even cannibalize the civilians if they surrendered...They were brainwashed to the 10th degree.

    During the Ardennes Offensive, the battle around Bastogne received a great deal of media attention because in early December 1944 it was a rest and recreation area for many war correspondents. There were no correspondents in the area of Saint-Vith, Elsenborn, or Monschau-Hofen.

    8:37 Recent scholarship of Soviet army manpower and logistics near Warsaw make this explanation of the Soviet pause during the Warsaw uprising simplistic and suspect.
    The commenter intuits Stalin’s thinking without documentation or adequately assessing the ability of nearby forces to take the city. Stalin was evil, and indeed was determined to control Poland, but the logistical situation for the Red Army was extremely difficult after they had been advancing for weeks.

    Pacific Theater: Mariana Islands (1944)
    The U.S. Pacific Fleet attacked the Mariana Islands, with intense battles on Saipan beginning June 15, 1944.
    Japanese soldiers, adhering to Bushido, defended to the last man, using fortified caves and guerrilla tactics.
    American forces employed flamethrowers and artillery to clear defenses, causing significant casualties.

    Very sad for he babies and children, the Americans & allied medics trying to help but unfortunately Togo had the Japanese civilians and soldiers so indoctrinated it was better to die with honor than live. 😢 I can imagine how stressful this have been on the young american soldiers to deal with these suicides as well as fighting like hell to win this 14:53 brutal war.

    Consider yourselves very fortunate if you had the chance to view: 'The World at War', 'Soviet Storm' and now this excellent documentary! Being able to view from the British, Russian, and German viewpoints leads to a more comprehensive understanding of the events of World War II. Just do not show any corpses of else UA-cam will...!

      If your mother, father, or some other relative died by some grisly means, would you want to find it broadcast on UA-cam for you and the rest of the world to see, over and over again? Show some respect for the dead and those that they may have left behind. If seeing the aftermath of violence turns you on, which often seems to be the case with complaints of this nature, then you're sick.

      @@sammisoccer7 it has nothing to do with UA-cam. If they need to blur some footage then just don't include that footage in the video. It's very annoying.

    But apparently you can't show the horrors of war on UA-cam anymore.

      Your reasoning for giving this channel a poor rating is flawed and somewhat shallow minded. The purpose of the blurred video is actually twofold. Besides watering things down a bit for younger viewers, it also shows respect for the dead, as they could potentially have living relatives watching this as well. If one of your relatives died in some horrible fashion in front of a camera, would you want to find it on UA-cam?

    • @stonemcdaniel
      @stonemcdaniel Місяць тому +1

      @Milovan-c9x Actually, the main reason is probably so the video isn't demonetized. If it shows death, blood, and gore, UA-cam takes away any money made from viewer count.

    • @katr8756
      @katr8756 24 дні тому

      @@stargazer5784 Oh please!! The blurring has nothing to do with respect for the dead. It's all about money! End of story! If these uploaders don't bow to the yt bullies, then they may not be monetized.
