Tana, I had a familiar experience moving to Mexico my first time. I lived there from age 35- 39. I am now 70. I had very few friends in USA. I was very introverted. I lived in a very conservative City. I am a gay male and that was not a good location for me. I moved to Ajijic/Lake Chapala due to a friend's serious illness. Ajijic was very open minded and welcoming. I went from being an introvert with few friends to being outgoing, friendly with lots of friends. I too saw a way of life that I found much more appealing than my stressed out life in USA. I too found the cuisine in Mexico to being several steps above what I had been raised on. I too found the joy of walking and health benefits that you found. I have mentioned before my desire to return to live in Mexico, once I no longer care for my mother. Best of wishes for the company... I hope one day to be a client.

I recently decided a couple weeks ago that I was going to quit my job, leave my brand new dream car behind and move to cdmx. I leave at the end of this month. It’s been really hard for my family to accept my move because I have such a good job here in the states. But my mental health is suffering. This is my big leap of faith and I can’t wait to see where this journey to cdmx will take me! Your videos make me more and more excited each time! 💕

This was excellent. I love how you both present a very laid-back vibe in these videos. It always feels like quality time with a friend. I live in the Bay Area and have built a life here as a filmmaker and photographer using my skills to produce commercial content for large and small businesses, non-profits, Marketing Agencies and doing freelance as a source of income on the side. But the cost of living here is high, hours are long, and wages are very low now post-pandemic. And the vibe is borderline hostile. Mexico City has been on my mind for months. And I really think it's the change I'm looking for. At least for a while. Thank you both for your awesome insights!

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I'm applauding you, Tana. Very well presented.CONGRATS!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 on your new business. You both bring a beautiful presentation each week that is informative and works for all ages. As I've mentioned in a previous post I am old enough to be your mum. I have been in MX for a month, and the kindness/respect towards older adults is amazing. We are not invisible and I have friends already of various ages. The extra money via the lower cost of living is such a blessing. My dog is a senior on heart medication and here is an example of the cost of recent appts here in CDMX. The 1hr15min consult was 15 USD, an upcoming EKG 75USD, upcoming dental cleaning/work with anesthesia 90USD. In the UK the EKG alone cost me 251GBP. Tomorrow I will go and buy my own prescriptions however the prices I've seen on the pharmacy website are looking great.

Thank you so much! We love hearing that we're able to appeal to such a wide age range 😊 I'm glad you're loving CDMX and yes, the health costs for both pets and humans are really crazy in comparison to the US!
      Your support means a lot!

Thanks for being vulnerable. I have never connected with the city I am from. THere has been a huge influx of movers the last almost 8 years now, and most of the city has changed. Most of it's hippy and a certain "trend." I love the area the last 5 years I have lived in, its safe.
I really felt like I connected with the Mexicans during my week in Mexico city more than I ever have in my home town. I can't wait to go back to Mexico!
I am also a little introverted and always very shy and quite growing up. Not near as much now. I desire a place I can come alive more too. Thanks again.

They found out my plans of leaving and we got in huge arguments. You would think they would support me but they want me trapped in their little bubble. God has called me to leave this country and I am doing everything I can to get out of here. Thank you for this video, I'm glad you made your way over to Mexico, that's amazing. @@cathywilliams8733 We currently live in the middle of nowhere, near where I-85 crosses Lake Hartwell and enters South Carolina. Moving out to the sticks was possibly an overreaction to having lived in Metro Atlanta for 35+ years.
Over the next few years we'll decide whether we want to move to a bigger city in Mexico, in which case we're considering Guadalajara. If we decide to go to a smaller city, we're looking at Santiago de Querétaro or San Miguel de Allende.
None of these are near the coast, you might notice... Because we've both had ENOUGH of the humidity of the southeast. The high desert sounds like a pleasant change of scenery!

I need to call you out on your comment that you didn’t move to Mexico because “you loved Mexico or loved the culture”, that statement comes across as very condescending and borderline classist and racist. You need to realize that if Mexico is allowing you to do the things you want to do or live the way that you want to live, IT IS Mexico and it’s culture that have allowed you yo do this.
Further, tons of foreigners, especially white people from the U.S. or Europe, have this idea that they don’t have to LEARN about Mexico as a country or it’s culture before moving there…that it’s ok for them to be willfully ignorant bc after all, they’re superior (i.e, white)… this is an incredibly supremacist approach and mentality. STOP. You should check your blind spots and your unconscious biases esp. considering you’re from rural Georgia, an area that I’m sure is high on the racism scale.

You look preety happy Tana living in Mexico and that is what counts. I dont know why a lot of people specially in the US thinks Mexico is backwards , that is not a western country with "western amenities" whatever that means or that is the most dangerous country after Afghanistan and Syria. Mexico is like any european country after all it was colonized by Spain ! And also you really dont have to like all aspects of the culture, you just have to take the ones you identify the most and be happy !
