I was not aware of the album source of this celestial track! Both Wild Bill's _Lady of the Evening_ and Steve's _Here Comes Mister Jordan_ are of course treasures. Steve (looking so like actor Charlie Grapewin by the early '70s, as pictured above), one of the greatest adherents of the Reuss school, is an inspiration to all of us acoustic archtop players. His singing style is well-suited to this Carmichael tune, too. I don't mind McRee joining in -- he's easier for me to take than, say, Chick Bullock! Cliff Leeman's impeccable work here deserves mention, also.
There is another vocal duet track ("Pennies from Heaven") from FCJ 125 ("Fat Cat Wails") that I will post shortly. Since you are an acoustic archtop player you will surely appreciate SJ's solo. FCJ 125 is the only issue. Re: "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" the Audiophile CD is a must; the original tapes were remastered, and the sound quality is far superior to the original LP issue. Steve had a penchant for selecting songs that fit his vocal style and generally they were lesser known but with well written, meaningful lyrics. He was a consummate musician.
@@daveytough8112 Yes, indeed! I've spun that Audiophile reissue many times over the decades now. It's always wonderful to find somebody singing Steve's praises -- it's not surprising that you're among those who appreciate his unique talents beyond the rhythm guitar role.
